So I talked to Support about this, and they told me that Desktop isn't supported anymore, and there was probably a software update on the boxes that interfered with this functionality. Because of this, I hadn't thought to seek outside help, but just recently someone told me this is still working for them, so I figured I'd see if anyone knows of any steps I can take to get it back up and running.
Approximately a year ago, my Premiere stopped recognizing the existence of my Tivo Desktop-connected PC for the purposes of accepting transfers from said PC. That is to say, the PC didn't show up on my Tivo's list of devices (it even showed my old series 2, which has been unplugged longer than this error has been occurring). I can still pull video from my Tivo TO my PC using Desktop, but not the other way around.
I'm running Tivo Desktop 2.8.3, currently have a Premiere and a Roamio that have the same problem, and on my PC I'm running Windows 7.
One of the two boxes (can't remember which) briefly recognized my laptop, which has Tivo Desktop, but which I don't ever use for that purpose and has nothing in the relevant folder. But now neither shows that, either. Both boxes display my PyTivo-related folders.
Why not just use PyTivo, you ask? Well, it's slightly more complicated to keep running since it has more moving parts (the last few transfers I've tried have failed because tivodecode crashed), and I don't like that it dates Tivo files based on when they arrived on the PC rather than when they were originally created on the Tivo. If you can advise me on how to correct the dating problem, that might make this a little less important an issue for me.
Anyway, main question is if anyone has had similar problems with their PC not showing up, and how you fixed it, if so. For what it's worth, this issue has been going on for at least a year, and my main PC has not once shown up in all that time.
