Hi, I have a Roamio HD (cable and OTA model). Having some strange problems. First of all I upgraded the HD from 500GB to 2TB using MFS Tools 3.2. Did a copy as I had a lot of recordings on there. Well I started having some strange problems. Some transferred recordings (from a Roamio plus) would show up twice for awhile. Sometimes could not delete them, well they still showed up in current recordings for awhile, then later would be gone. I have a deleted items "recording" that shows it is there but there is no information, it is just blank and I can't do anything to it. It does not go away, I cleared the deleted items folder but it stays, when something is deleted it gets deleted from the current recordings that are not save until delete. Plus some recordings I cannot save til delete, I check off save til delete but they just stay blue, don't turn green. Other problems too but I won't list them all. Now I decided to copy the 2TB drive to a brand new 3TB drive to see if that might help (though I kind of figured if there were errors they would just copy to the new drive too). MFS tools 3.2 again. At the start of the copy it did have read errors, I think 3-4. "Unrecov" I think it said, a lot of info but I didn't write it all down. Each time it moved on and the copy completed. The last two of the errors were very early in the copy, like 4000 and 5000 MB in. The new drive works but still has most of the same problems, the invisible item in the deleted items folder is still there, some recordings I cannot "save til delete" etc, most of the original problems still there.
Now as for my question, I'm assuming the 2TB drive is the problem, maybe it had some errors/bad sectors? Since the errors were very early in the new copy (the 2TB to the 3TB) is there some way I could take the original 500 GB drive and PARTIALLY copy it to the new 3TB (the first 6000MB maybe?) Without damaging the recordings, I have over 1000 (that's why I did a copy, transferring over 1000 recordings by hand would be prohibitive, not to mention transferring them back). Wishful thinking probably but there are some real pros here so maybe??? ;)
