Hi! I have an unusual DISH installation. The DISH receiver is in the basement and I have an HDMI cable that feeds the flat screen TV on the 1st floor and a coax connection that feeds a non-HD tv in the 1st floor bedroom.
We would like to use the TIVO series 2 box as a dumb recording device. We don't need a TIVO subscripton, we'd just like to tell the TIVO box to record Tuesdays at 7:00 pm (as an example).
I plugged the coax in the bedroom from DISH into the "In" on the TIVO box and connected the Out to the TV. When I turn the TV channel to Channel 3, I see the TIVO setup.
Herein lies the problem... the dish signal comes into the TV on Channel 62.
I have tried to configure the TIVO box as using an antenna, as using a cable box, as not using a cable box (just continually reboots into setup) and nothing seems to find the signal on channel 62.
What am I missing here? We obviously can't install the TIVO box in the basement because the remote won't have line-of-sight through the floor. Can anyone help! We'd really just like to record a couple of shows a week...
We'd still be in the 80's happily using our VCR but ours broke and it's hard to find a new one!! :)
thanks for your help.
