What does Standby actually do on Bolt/Roamio?

I can't find anything relevant about this... found a thread on here with people guessing, but nothing definitive, and the last post was over a year ago, so thought I'd do a new one...

So with the S4 and below, Standby pretty much just turns off the video output.
With the Bolt (and apparently Roamio) it does more than that, and there's 3 settings, but TiVo documents them poorly.

TiVo lists them as:
Quote:

Off: The TiVo device does not automatically enter standby mode, and will continue to record TiVo Suggestions.

Low: The TiVo device automatically enters standby mode after four hours of inactivity, and will continue to record TiVo Suggestions.

Medium: The TiVo device automatically enters standby mode after four hours of inactivity, and will not record TiVo Suggestions.

High: The TiVo device automatically enters standby mode after two hours of inactivity, and will not record TiVo Suggestions.
Since I don't use suggests and have them disabled anyway, I selected 'high' when setting this up.

But...does Standby spin down the hard drive?
Does Standby turn off the tuners?
Does Standby turn off buffering?

Some people claim it spins down the drive and/or turns off the tuners, and most people claim it turns off buffering, but I've seen nothing but claims about that, nothing definitive...

I don't want buffering, so turning that off is good. Powering down the tuners sounds like it's PROBABLY a good idea, as they use power/generate heat, and obviously might not be needed for hours at a time (occasionally even days at a time!)
Spinning down the drive? There of course I'm not sure, and I'm not really sure if anyone is sure. Lacking any hard data, I set Windows to never spin down mechanical drives, so they only spin up/down when I shut the PC off, and of course they run 24/7 in my older TiVos... It SEEMS like maybe it's a bad idea to spin them up and down a ton, but I don't ACTUALLY know that, and of course it's another thing entirely to spin down a drive that won't be used for 6 hours or something.

But I don't even know if that's what the Bolt is doing. It seems to resume pretty fast, but there's probably time for a drive to spin up-and I'd assume time for the tuners to get reinitialized.

Seems like my tuners which would start on fake channels with nothing on them all revert to my first real channel when I come out of standby...

Anyway, just wondering what the power/standby settings are actually doing.
