What's up with new BS movie descriptions?

I think it happened some time last week. All movie descriptions start with alluring lines like:

- bound to stir up good memories, ... (Dodgeball)
- in this rousing take on the classic tale... (Snow white and the huntsman)
- brace yourself for unrelenting terror... (Ouija)
- xxxxx and oooo star in this intense courtroom drama... (Primal fear)

What's wrong, you ask me? Several things. First, as there is more BS in the description, a lot less room is left for the actual description, which was short to begin with. As they become more enticing, people will invariably start to record more (and watch more) movies they otherwise wouldn't, and the selectivity goes down. Waste of time. As people have less time, they will watch less of good movies that are worth watching.

I know, you look it up on RT, and I do most of the time, but sometimes the description just intrigues me. And when a C or D movie (like Christmas movies, Lifetime movies, Syfy channel movies etc) is presented as a "harrowing drama" or "critically acclaimed" you get subconsciously interested.

And what's Tivos's interest here? How do they benefit from this? If not, I say change it back for the benefit of users. What's that company that provides the program information, Tribune or something?
