My TivoHD (upgraded to 176 hrs Hd) seemed to be sluggish, so I went into Kickstart and wanted to enter the code 58, to do a cleanup. I accidentally moved my finger the wrong way and entered code 52, which is Emergency Software Download. That really fouled things up. It now boots through Powering UP and about 10 seconds into the "Almost There", then I get a green screen about a serious error and it reboots a few seconds later.
I think I need to restore the Tivo OS from my original 20 hour HD that I saved from when I did the upgrade. I have WinMFS B9.3, and have made a Tivo Truncated Backup of the 20hr disk, but I'm reluctant to restore it on the upgraded (but malfunctioning) drive until I know if it's not going to hurt my hundreds of recordings. I REALLY want to save these.
Can anyone attest to the safety of this? Am I going about fixing this the right way?
Thanks in advance.
PS, I ran across the instructions for WINMFS. It's here: http://ift.tt/2cANxAl
