Cannot AirPlay Downloaded Shows from iOS TiVo App

On the iOS app, why can't I AirPlay shows that are downloaded? But when I choose to stream the same show, I can AirPlay it. And I'm not talking about AirPlay Mirroring. When I AirPlay a stream, the video plays full-screen on the Apple TV, and only the controls show on the iPad. The iPad even shows the text "Video is playing on your TV."
