We had a nasty wind storm last week and our power got futzed. We're not sure if it was a surge or if maybe one of our hot lines got shorted to neutral.
We had to have the input transformers replaced on our furnace and garage door openers, and there's a lovely pile of dead electronics at the top of the stairs waiting for recycling or wall wart replacement.
Two of our TiVos are connected to UPSs and they came through OK. One of our Premieres was on a surge supressor and got futzed. Our next door neighbor has a whole-house supressor and also has a pile of dead stuff, so we're guessing this wasn't a garden-variety surge.
Anyway, if I fire up the Premiere I get a momentary flash of "Welcome" followed by a green screen (HDMI) or a repeating cycle of "Welcome" followed by garbled output (component). Letting the box boot headless doesn't seem to work.
Feels to me like the power supply got damaged. It's a 2-tuner Premiere from 2011 with Lifetime, so it's probably worth a little time with a Fluke meter.
As a first step, I'm going to pull the drive (2TB WD AV), let WD diagnostics take a look at it and drop in the original 320GB drive. Assuming it's not just a fried hard drive, suggestions?
