Season pass confused

With the Mythbusters mega Marathon coming up I decided to clear my backup Tivo to record all the episodes so I can watch at my convenience. First I deleted all existing season passes, then deleted all duplicate recordings (programs I have elsewhere) to free up space.



I then selected a Mythbusters episode on an SD channel and set up a season pass, all going well so far (I thought). Then I checked the to do list and the first half of the episodes were indeed on the selected SD channel, but the second half were on the HD channel, well I don't have enough available disk to record 100 hours of HD and 137 hours of SD. I also set recording options to keep all episodes.



In order to correct the HD /SD problem I went through and selected the SD channel and selected the record this episode option which deleted the HD selection.



Why did Tivo select the HD channels? When I set it up for SD



What can I do about this should I need to at some future time?



I have never had this problem before when some episodes are on SD and some on HD, Tivo always used the channel I selected.
