Series 1 still usable?

I have a mothballed Series 1 with Lifetime that I was considering digging out and giving to a friend that is OTA only. I had given up on it when I had problems dialing in with Vonage several years ago, and before the ATSC conversion.



Are these still usable in any fashion, with a converter box? Is it still possible to dial in on the modem and get program data, or are they all shut down?
