First off let me say as i newcomer to tivo from being a lifetime sat subscriber i am realizing what i missed over the years. I also understand the reasoning behind provider copy protection. I may not necessarily agree with it in its entirety but i understand it. What i am trying to understand is why if you have multiple tivo boxes A, B, C, etc. You can "record" a copy protected show on box A. "Record" a different copy protected show on box B. Same on C. The boxes can see each other on a network and you can "view" each show from a different box but not "transfer" any between boxes. I totally understand not being permitted to "transfer" to a pc, mobile device, etc but why would anyone care which box the content resided on as long as it stayed within the confines of the tivo system? Just one of the questions of the tivo world that has me baffled.
