Cut the Cord/Ditched the Dish

With Sling TV coming to Xbox One, I was finally able to get everyone onboard to cut the cord.

Which brought me to buy my first ever TiVo.

I have always heard about how good they are, and after only a couple of hours I went back and returned a Roamio OTA, bought a Roamio Basic and added Lifetime service.

The killer features are really that streaming is integrated into the single remote for easier family adoption and it also happens to work with really well with Xbox One - so, whatever is not on the TiVo, IS on the Xbox. HBO Go and Sling TV really round out the entertainment and even if those add up to $35/month, I still save $130 a month over the Dish bill.

It would be nice if there was a forum here just for people using TiVos as OTA DVRs - instead of looking through a lot of forums with cable centric issues.

Based on the latest TiVo financial reports, it seems like they are definitely on the upswing and I think Sling TV and HBO's moves will just add to that.
