Time to Upgrade Series 3? $199 Lifetime Offer

I own two Series 3 HD boxes with Lifetime Service. An "XL" activated in 2010 (original drive) and an HD activated in 2005 that has has its hard drive upgraded to 1TB. I use them with an OTA setup (though I have had cable in the past) and use them exclusively for DVR functions as I have an Apple TV and Fire Stick for supplemental media.

I've been tempted in the past to upgrade to a Roamio but I've always stopped myself because I couldn't figure out why I "needed" to upgrade as my current TiVos always served their basic purposes. Outfitting my home with a new Roamio setup would be expensive (detailed below.)

Recently I received an offer to purchase a Roamio with $199 Lifetime. They're trying to entice those of us on old equipment to upgrade. So the Basic Roamio box (only one I could use with OTA) plus lifetime would be $449.98 with Lifetime. Looking ahead I'd also need to pickup a Mini for my second bedroom, adding an additional $150 to the cost and likely would need to upgrade the stock hard drive costing another $199 from Weakknees (is there a better option?) so my total cost would be $800.

I also see TiVo is currently offering a deal for a Roamio OTA for $299 but that would still likely require that $149 mini and the $199 hard drive for a total of $650 I'm a little skeptical about the OTA because if I ever decided to go back to cable it would be useless.

I know I could recoup some of my cost by selling my lifetime HD boxes, especially since they both have 1TB hard drives. I'm just not sure this is an upgrade I really need to do or if I'm just being tempted by the new Roamio.

Appreciate any thoughts.
