Posting this because well you pretty much don't here about things when they go right (or as right as can be).
Thursday TVIO Verizon FIOS install at my business - I already had FIOS Internet just added TV as DTV had gone way up on us and didn't care. Got the TIVO in from the Summer Sale and a Mini as well. I had already done all the set up and updating for each TIVO and they were working fine on Netflix, Amazon etc already.
Install was supposed to be at 1pm. Installer asked if he could come early (10am) I said sure. He showed with guess what ... no cable card. He called a fellow tech who brought one later. Install was very long (ie all day) but the guy was super nice and cool about everything. What took so long was he had to change out all of the hardware (inside and outside box) even though we had been on FIOS for years. He took it in steps and had everything going just fine. He saved the TV/Cablecard for last. Took a while for pairing to happen and he had to do it twice. Everything seemed to be working just fine except a few channels. I waited 24 hours for those to fix themselves - they did not so I called tech support and and after a manual redo 10 mins later all was good.
Thumbs up to Verizon and the installer.
Saturday - Comcast install at my house (this is the only service available to me other than sattelite). So the day doesn't start off well but ended just fine. Install set for noon. At 11am I get a call from the installer verifying that is a TIVO install, I told him yes. Bear in mind I had called 3 times during the week to verify this info and to insist they bring cablecards (multiple ones) to avoid issues. I even went to try and get some myself but after waiting for an hour to get help they couldn't do it since I had an open work order ... UGGH!!
Installer says he doesn't have any but he will go get one and be over shortly. Guess what ... never showed. I get a call at 1:30 saying they need to get a cable card and want to make the appt from 2-4. I said fine. Hell I have already been sitting around this long, what's the difference now.
2:30 comes and guess what another call ... sir we have no cable cards and cannot do your install we will have to reschedule and it will be a week before we can get out there. I told the lady that was BS as I was in the service center yesterday and the guy was going to give me 3 and he said they have PLENTY there. She said there is nothing she could do ... I said wrong get me a supervisor. 10 mins later supes called. I calmly explained the situation and he said let me call you back in just a minute as I need to go to the CS counter and see if they have cards. 10 mins later he called back said he has 2 and he will be at my house in 20 mins and get me straight. 30 mins later him and a tech show up and within 20 mins everything was done (I already had Comcast internet so they just had to hook up TV and program the cablecard). Both guys were great and super nice, can't say enough kind words about them. Everything seems just fine except for 2 channels that give me V58 errors (TMC and one of its sister channels).
Again 2 different installs but good results in the end. Minor issue to deal with on the Comcast side still but will deal with that soon.
I would like to say that I am shocked at the CS from the Supes. He didn't hesitate one second to say he was coming over to get this done. Most of my experience with Comcast has been terrible. The ONLY reason I switched was to save money (I was paying Comcast - $100 for internet only and DTV - $200 a month for programming -- Comcast gave me the SAME internet speed (105 plan) and their TV plan with all channels (premium and sports as well) which I was not getting with DTV for get this -- $115 a month for everything and locked in for 2 years). Couldn't help but make the change. I invested in TIVO equipment and here we are.
So far I am very happy with both installs and more importantly the TIVO equipment. Things work and the picture is shockingly way better for me than it was on DTV - very surprised at this to be honest. My biggest issue is learning the new channel #s - yikes! Been on DTV for over 15 years so this is kind of a pain, lol. Still learning the TIVO system as well but I'll get it. What's nice is one box for all -- WAF is very high here once she figures out everything. Was previously using DTV box, Roku, Fire, Dune player etc etc - talk about a pain.
Anyway like I said sometimes its nice to hear about a positive experience once and while vs. all the problematic ones.
