I bought a Roamio last fall and did not opt for the lifetime service. I used it with a cable card for a couple of months then cut the cord in December. For the most part I am managing fine with OTA except when the weather is bad and my large oak trees screw up the signal. It will be interesting to see how reception is when the trees leaf out.
Had to call Comcast about my internet service recently. I am paying $66.95 for 25 Mbps which is all I need. The CSR offered me a double play for $55 but I had to take the Comcast DVR so I declined. Then I got to thinking, I'm really paying $83/month if you included my Tivo fee so now the savings look even more attractive. I could live with the Comcast DVR to save almost $30 month.
After that long preamble, my question is, if I take the Comcast double play, can I "retire" my Tivo and cancel my subscription, then come back and re-subscribe if/when I cut the cord again?
