Technically it's not a series finale yet, but they sure wrote it as if it was going to be the end.
While they've managed to have S03 somewhat redeem them from the mostly dreadful S02, I do feel in the end they did come back with some quality episodes and I won't lie, this one had me weepy at several points.
They've certainly left some threads open should they get a 4th season, but killing Abbie seemed a pretty commitment to an end game. throughout the episode I kept thinking that Jenny would somehow sacrifice herself for Abbie so that she could be with Joe in the waiting room, but treating it as a series finale and not recovering Abbie came as a bit of a shock.
