My premier has rebooted a couple of times today. Kind of unusual. ATM I am just watching it.
I have been reading, and admittedly this might be an anomaly and might not reoccur, but it's said this can be a failing HDD. Could be.
I have a few extra premiers, that are not in use, so I could take a hdd from one of those and slap it in my lifetime unit. Which might be OK.
Question: Do I just stick it in? Came from a similar box.
Or I could prep a new hdd for it. I don't need to save the shows.
I read where the WD20EFRX and WD40EFRX work well and are quiet.
I have some ordinary HDDs, like 1TB. Some might be WD, some other brands. Would any of those work? They are probably from servers. I would have to test them, prep them, which I could do.
So I guess I need to find a disk image to prep it with, and the procedure for that. Someone said they could let me know where to find such an image. Said that on another thread.
Question: What software and disk image do I use to prep a 2GB drive? MFS Tools? Does that just prep the drive, or do I have to patch an image?
I have done this many times on ReplayTV units. This is my first failure since moving to Tivo.
