I have the following:
TiVo Roamio Plus
TiVo Roamio Basic
Both hardwired.
Lately I've been having issues with the iOS app connecting to the Plus. I keep getting the "Communication Error - There was a problem connecting to the TiVo service".
What's weird is - I can connect to my Basic fine. No idea why, since the Plus is what has the stream in it.
I've tried restarting the stream, the TiVo, resetting the app, trying the app on different devices.
Also weird is that I can see and stream via my browser on online.tivo.com.
All of this is being done in my home. Any thoughts?
EDIT: After another full restart, the app can finally connect to the box. Still don't understand why it couldn't connect before, yet could connect and stream to the basic?!?
EDIT #2: And after successfully streaming a show, in home, I click on Done and get the same Communication Error. So tired of this.
EDIT #3: So I tried on my iPhone.....but instead I turned WiFi off and used my cell connection. I can connect to the box just fine! Turn Wifi back on, and I get the communication error connecting to the Plus box only. Thoughts?
EDIT #4: Rebooted everything including routers. Was able to connect to Plus, then almost immeditely it gave me the error where it says the TiVo box can't connect to the internet. I go to the box, and test internet fine. Go back to the app - it connects. Then 10 seconds later I get the Communication Error again. Meanwhile, I can always connect to the Basic box.
EDIT #5 - Solved? Ok, so I might have stumbled across why this is happening. Seems that I only get this error when the Plus box is streaming a show from the Basic box. My wife is home right now as well, and she was watching a show, on the Plus, streaming it from the Basic box. I noticed that everytime I went in to check something on the TiVo (thus stopping her stream) - all my devices could connect. The minute we start the Plus -> Basic stream again, all the devices pop up the communication error.
Note however, this still only happens while on the Wifi here. If using cell service like we are away from the home, we can stream from Plus -> Basic AND connect via the apps.
I never had this issue before - is this a change in either the TiVo software or the iOS app?
