I have a base Roamio with 6TB WD Red drive installed. I've had it connected to an SD set with the mini-plug breakout cable for a long time. I just got a Sony Bravia XBR43X800D tv and I disconnected the breakout cable and connected the Roamio via HDMI.
I've had the video output in the settings set to 480i and before I shutdown to change the cables I went in and added the 1080p (I may have done another 1080 as well, can't be sure).
