Last Fall I purchased a Tivo Romio OTA and the 1 TB external hard disk.

I want to purchase another for another part of the house, same setup.

I can not find the 1TB external storage on the Tivo web site, so I started a chat with Tivo support.

Now that I have a Tivo Bolt and 4K TV, I would like to update my camcorder to a 4K model. Is there a way to push my 4K home movies to the Tivo? I exported some sample 4K clips from my editing software in mpeg 4 format at 4K resolution. PyTivo could see them and acted like they copied to the Bolt. When I play them back I get a black screen. Is there a particular format that is supported for 4K video? If not, does Plex support streaming 4K through the Tivo? Thanks.

Is there any way to disable individual tuners on the Bolt?

I've just purchased a Bolt and am getting a V53 error on just one tuner. The other three tuners work fine.

My instinct is that it's a bad tuner on the Bolt, but I'm not sure I have the time and patience to deal with the calls to both TiVO and Verizon support needed to resolve this issue.

Given that I didn't buy the Bolt for the four tuners, it may be expedient to just live with three tuners. The problem is that if I can't disable...

Silly question...
At the end of a TV episode, once the theme starts playing, I get a box on the bottom right showing the next episode and a countdown to it starting. At this point, the up/down/FF/Rew buttons stop working and the only choices I have are to wait for the next episode or hit select to start it right away (and once the next one starts my buttons are back).
Does this happen to anyone else?

Believe it or not i'm still or was using a tivo series 2 dvr and the hard drive has crashed. I'm unable to access the drive from either linux or windows using external USB enclosure, (it's toast) and was wondering if anyone might have an image i could load onto a new drive. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I know virtually nothing about how to use my TIVO with the abundance of streaming options that are available nowadays. I've been begrudgingly paying my ever increasing Comcast bill because it is easy, and allows me access to all of my beloved shows and works with my TIVO. Has anyone had an issue with their Tivo remote losing the TV setting? My remote all of sudden stopped working. I have gone through setup again for my tv (Samsung 2016 model) and have tried all codes from the menu plus the 0999 process. None of those have worked.

Bolt Plus issue: No lights and no video outpout

Hello, so my Bolt+ is powering on when I plug it in (I hear the fan and the hard drive spool up) but there are no lights on the front of the device and no video output. I've tried cold booting it (removing the cable card, Ethernet, coax and AC power for 30 minutes) with no luck. Does this sound like a power supply issue? Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve the issue?

Sorry to bother, but my Premiere XL (TCD748000) died yesterday (I think from power outage...it is stuck on "Welcome...starting up" and makes a loud noise). Are the star ratings for movies a thing of the past?

Right now almost all movies from 2015 and before have star ratings. Since the Rovi merger in 2016 new movies don't have stars. I don't believe I've seen any from 2017 that have stars.

This is a feature that I really liked. Often times I would look at the guide and see a highly rated movie that I hadn't heard of and thought that might be worth a viewing and record it, etc.

After a few years with zero issues I started having problems about six week ago with my tuning adapter. Sometimes the SDV channels would not always work, then they all stopped working. The tuning adapter diagnosis looked fine. So I unplugged the TA and replugged in and restarted Tivo. After that my Tivo stated that there was no tuning adapter connected.

Live PD - Anybody watch this?

A coworker told me about this show. It is essentially like Cops but is aired live on Friday and Saturday nights on A&E. The show usually follows about 4-5 different police departments live and they bounce around between departments/officers where there is something interesting going on.

It's totally watching a train-wreck. One thing is for sure, I will never go to that one county in South Carolina where every week there is always all sorts of crazy stuff going down.

5-second stall when resuming playback

I've been seeing a weird issue on my refurb Roamio now that I'm on Comcrap service (Middletown, CT if that matters). I was on Cox before and didn't see this issue, but now I do, so I'm wondering if this is just a Comcrap "feature" or if there's something wrong in the Tivo.

The issue is, if I fast forward or rewind, and then resume playback, about half the time the video playback stalls for about 5 seconds before continuing. Other times, there is no "stall" in this manner... and playback...

I have seen mentioned here and on OTA boards that the Roamio's OTA tuners are not very good and that in my area I might get only 50% of the stations that would be available if my antenna were tied directly into my TV's tuner.

I received my Tivo mini yesterday and wanted to share my experience setting it up (as the internet is fairly void of this information).

I have it running quite well using a wireless bridge, however I wouldn't recommend it for most folks. Wireless is a fickle technology, and not something you want to depend on for a high speed constant connection if you can avoid it.

When I use cTivo, I have noticed that my PBS transfers, i.e., Vera, from my Roamio Tivo to my Mac (macOS Sierra 10.12.4) are suffering from random picture breakup and macro blocking of the picture. Hisense TV - need remote codes for volume

Hi all....I've searched the forum and can't find an answer. Anyone have a good remote code for a new Hisense TV?

Tivo Roamio suggests 0374,0376, and 0387 for controlling a Hisense TV. All 3 control on/off just fine, but no volume control.

Surely there is a code that also controls the volume. That's basic stuff.

Purchasing a Tivo Learning remote is not an acceptable answer to me (yet). I already have a Logitech Harmony.....but wife and family still prefer the standard Tivo remote.

This morning I noticed that our Premiere XL only had the orange/yellow light on the front panel on.

I turned on the TV and the screen was black and the TV was reporting the resolution repeatedly, like it was losing HDMI sync. I power cycled the TiVo and it's working now.


ALSO, twice in the last two weeks, we found it in a state where we'd only get a gray screen when trying to play video. It didn't matter if the video was recorded or live. The menus worked fine. I don't recall...

Something screwy happened with my recording for the pilot episode at the end. They started showing the intro to Darci the Ventriloquist, cut off, went to a commercial, and then came back to show her again.

Anyway, I'm all in for Darci. I'm glad she got Mel B's Golden Buzzer. There are some great clips of her on Youtube with other puppets too.

Netflix poor quality

Has anybody seen poor/inconsistent picture quality on Netflix Tivo app in the past several weeks? My Roamio ethernet is hard wired to a 10Gbps switch, and ISP speed is 65Mbps. Other devices on the same switch see full port speed and full internet speed. However, Netflix quality is extremely variable. Starts out ok, then drops very low every few minutes, then back to good quality. Used to be good for hours at a time in months prior.

I have TiVo Desktop Plus and I've noticed that photos I access from my PC are kind of fuzzy and not as large and detailed as they could be. Is there a way to increase the resolution of the Roamio Pro to allow for better looking photos?

Or do I need to find another way to display my PC photos on my non-smart TV? How's Apple TV in this regard?

No component video (mostly)

This is a new one: Suddenly I apparently get nothing but a black screen from the component video on my Roamio. The TV doesn't complain about the signal, so it is apparently a proper video output of nothing but black. If I power cycle it, I *do* get component output for the "wait just a few more moments" picture of the TiVo guy, so it can sometimes generate video other than black, just not once it is booted.

I plugged in an HDMI cable, and I do get video from it, so I guess I'm switching to...

Apparently 20.7.1 has major HDMI issues

I was told there is a major issue with 20.7.1 and numerous folks have called in stating that some time after the update when the Bolt reboots, they lose HDMI.
Some lose signal entirely, some lose sound, some have a very poor picture/sound afterwards. I still get picture if I let my TV sit for almost a minute when I switch HDMI ports to the Bolt. Seems like it could be an HDMI handshake issue. I tried a Panasonic and Samsung TV.

After a few years with zero issues I started having problems about six week ago with my tuning adapter. Sometimes the SDV channels would not always work, then they all stopped working. The tuning adapter diagnosis looked fine. So I unplugged the TA and replugged in and restarted Tivo. After that my Tivo stated that there was no tuning adapter connected.

Right now almost all movies from 2015 and before have star ratings. Since the Rovi merger in 2016 new movies don't have stars. I don't believe I've seen any from 2017 that have stars.

This is a feature that I really liked. Often times I would look at the guide and see a highly rated movie that I hadn't heard of and thought that might be worth a viewing and record it, etc.

Streaming not working with iOS?

I have Wave Broadband and with one of their service techs and TIVO service on the line, I got confirmation from TIVO service that there is an issue streaming (same wifi network) to IOS devices. I don't have any other information other than "we are working on it" . It has been 3 weeks without this capability and about to move on.

Anyone else have this issue? Any update on a fix date?

Losing connection

I recently picked up one of the minis when the sale was going on. I am using a roamio basic 4 tuner cable card. Connected using moca. Everything works great except for when I turn off the main viewing area connected to the roamio the mini loses connection comes right back if I hit TiVo or live tv button. In the main viewing area the roamio stays on but when I turn off the tv it kicks the connection to the mini. It's like losing hdmi to the roamio stops all playback even on the mini.

A coworker told me about this show. It is essentially like Cops but is aired live on Friday and Saturday nights on A&E. The show usually follows about 4-5 different police departments live and they bounce around between departments/officers where there is something interesting going on.

It's totally watching a train-wreck. One thing is for sure, I will never go to that one county in South Carolina where every week there is always all sorts of crazy stuff going down.

I have a Tivo Premiere XL4. Originally, I got a Tivo Slide and the previous non-Slide version. The Slide required a dongle and that paired fine with the RF and keyboard working. The non-Slide remote (which never had RF or a keyboard) was killed by battery corrosion, so I bought a Slide Pro directly from tivo.com - the version specifically for the Tivo Premiere series with the dongle that it requires, which is different from the dongle required by the Slide.

Has anyone else noticed that TiVo has almost completely lost the ability to find content on Hulu? For example, TiVo lists all of the following as "unavailable" on my Roamio, even though they are actually available on Hulu:

After a very brief power outage I now can not power up my tiVo. A Premiere model TCD746320. TiVo service # starting with 746
Nothing comes on the TV except no signal. The cooling fan in back of the TiVo does work so can it still be a bad power supply?

for about the last six months, our Tivo Mini, connected to a Roamio, seems to lose connection quite often, solved only by unplugging and plugging in again. The TiVo and Live TV buttons get locked out and nothing will either wake up the Roamio, or the Mini. I can't be sure where the problem is.

I have several SD-DVR40 Series 2 DirecTivos but one of them is having a problem.

This particular DVR worked fine when I first baked the hard drive with InstantCake. However, about 2 weeks ago, the SD-DVR40 has problems with receiving the input. One of the two inputs has a problem with the satellite signals. The picture from this channel pixelates badly and the DirecTV SW displays an error message on the bottom: "Searching for input signal: Satellite In 2".

TiVo Online has suddenly stopped playback

Well, really it's become sporadic. I've communicated with TiVo about this, but haven't had a resolution. My Roamio Pro has begun refusing to stream content (in home) over the online.tivo.com site. Using chrome, adblocker disabled on the online.tivo.com site (just to be sure).

Sometimes the little play button appears, sometimes it doesn't. When it does and you select it, the video playback window appears but the video doesn't play.

Have tried multiple computers, browsers, etc. Even a Mac....

Over the last couple of weeks, the picture quality output by my Premiere has degraded severely (looking pixelated, almost interlaced) and the only fix seems to be a restart. Decided to go back to cable and went over and picked up 2 Comcast cablecards. This was the easiest I have ever seen this work. They now have a self activation website. You put in your account #, cablecard ID, and data id from the tivo. Card activates without having to call anyone. About time they get a easy to use system.

Has anybody seen poor/inconsistent picture quality on Netflix Tivo app in the past several weeks? My Roamio ethernet is hard wired to a 10Gbps switch, and ISP speed is 65Mbps. Other devices on the same switch see full port speed and full internet speed. However, Netflix quality is extremely variable. Starts out ok, then drops very low every few minutes, then back to good quality. Used to be good for hours at a time in months prior.

i was just up in the media room and the old Premiere gave me a low battery message. Add, I don't remember many posts about this and search didn't show anything.

Since the unit is always on i am not sure this is much of an issue that I am going to rush to fix.

I have two Tivo Series 3 HDs with Lifetime service on each. One is connected to TWC/Spectrum via one multi-stream cable card and antenna and the other just antenna.

The one with Spectrum is connected to internet via ethernet cable. On this Tivo I always see the other Tivo on "Now Playing List" and can copy any programs that are not copy controlled.

On the other Tivo it is connected via Wireless USB device. It seems to never have a problem connecting to Netflix or getting guide info...

After a few years with zero issues I started having problems about six week ago with my tuning adapter. Sometimes the SDV channels would not always work, then they all stopped working. The tuning adapter diagnosis looked fine. So I unplugged the TA and replugged in and restarted Tivo. After that my Tivo stated that there was no tuning adapter connected.

I recently upgraded my TiVo Premiere XL4 to the TiVo Bolt. I enjoy everything about the a bolt except the loud noise coming from the fan. I can be all the way across the living room and still hear the fan going. I must say it is one of the loudest piece of equipment I've ever had.

We're about to upgrade from a Series3 to a Bolt+. Has anyone using Charter/Spectrum swapped out their cable cards from one unit to another without a service call?

I understand the Bolt+ uses a single cable card, not two like the Series3 (we also have a Premiere XL), so I'd only use one in the new Bolt+ and return the other.

I'm looking for some help with an explanation as to why a Roamio stuck in a reboot loop with a Mini 4K and cable box in a separate room both hooked to another tv would cause pixelization on the cable box output. When I turned off MoCA on the Mini, the pixelization on the cable box disappeared!! Maybe it happened earlier and I only noticed last night, but I see a gazillion new channels all above 1000 here in Boca/Delray Florida with comcast. They appear to be all the same channels, but with new numbers, and the old channels are still there. Looking at the TODO list is kind of weird. Some programs are scheduled to record on the new channel, some on the old channel.

Is this step one in comcast going to H264 encoding or something? I wonder how long the old channels will hang around?

I've tried to build MFS Tools 3.2 for Linux (prebuilt version please? ) on a VM (just to test it out before actually using it) and I get an error (see the attached log).
There was something wrong with off64_t as well, IIRC I defined it as off_t?
How should I go about using MFS Tools on my TiVo Bolt once the program is built? I'll build it on a real computer or copy the one built on a VM to a computer, but is there anything specific to the Bolt that I need to know...

Yesterday it was 4 minutes too fast today it was 7. A quick connection again to the tivo service fixes it but still wtf is Rovi doing that they suddenly can't tell its 12:42 not 12:49. I am having issues with pixelated picture on my Mini that is connected via ethernet to a Bolt (which is connected via a MoCa adapter). I am trying to track the packets so I can see if some are missing, or there are other issues but I don't see anything in Wireshark (which I'm pretty new at). Does anyone know if it's because the packets are secured that I can't see them?

I'm a bit lost in all of the stuff posted here. Here's my situation -- I have a TivoHD Series 3 that is largely broken because Tivo accidentally upgraded it to a bogus software version. They are going to charge me a few hundred dollars to replace it.

What I'd like to do is completely re-image the drive to a "correct" version of the software, so that I can get something working again. The unit has lifetime service. Specifically, it is a TCD652160.

We are trying to move service from a Roamio to a Bolt. When calling customer service they said our Tsn is invalid. It is all numbers and they said a letter should be in it somewhere. Is it possible there is a capital O that looks like a zero? I've looked in the menu, box, and on the back of unit and all are the same. Any ideas?

Weird problem here I've got a mobile hotspot and a router and when I try to connect to TiVo it fails but I can still watch Netflix and Youtube!, but still no guide data! This only works through a wired connection with the router, the wifi just doesn't work period.. I've restarted the TiVo and the internet multiple times

I installed a new antenna for my Roamio OTA and now I'm receiving several more stations than I used to receive. Those new stations are all listed in the channel listing with an asterisk (*) next to them indicating that they were scanned. I added all of these channels and forced a connection to the tivo service.

It would be nice if I rather than buy an additional Mini, if I could use an unused Lifetime Premiere, Roamio or even Bolt as a Mini connected to another base unit. Basically just have one cablecard and then have another unit function as a Mini - slaving off the base unit. This can be for lifetime units. Is this possible for Tivo to develop via software? Just curious.

"Failed while negotiating" for a week, Roamio Pro

My TiVo Roamio Pro hasn't connected to the TiVo Service since Sunday, 7/16. I've done all the troubleshooting like restarting, unplugging, changing the network from wireless to ethernet and back, forced several connections, restarted the router and switch, changing ethernet cables and ports, and nothing but "Failed while negotiating". I've been seeing a weird issue on my refurb Roamio now that I'm on Comcrap service (Middletown, CT if that matters). I was on Cox before and didn't see this issue, but now I do, so I'm wondering if this is just a Comcrap "feature" or if there's something wrong in the Tivo.

The issue is, if I fast forward or rewind, and then resume playback, about half the time the video playback stalls for about 5 seconds before continuing. Other times, there is no "stall" in this manner... and playback...

Apparently 20.7.1 has major HDMI issues

I was told there is a major issue with 20.7.1 and numerous folks have called in stating that some time after the update when the Bolt reboots, they lose HDMI.
Some lose signal entirely, some lose sound, some have a very poor picture/sound afterwards. I still get picture if I let my TV sit for almost a minute when I switch HDMI ports to the Bolt. Seems like it could be an HDMI handshake issue. I tried a Panasonic and Samsung TV.

I've expanded the system, found a Tivo Bolt 4-tuner, 1Gb for a really good price. Swapped the Roamio Plus to the master bedroom tv and put the Bolt on my main TV. Recently, and it seems ever since my Premiere received the latest SW, my TiVo will just pause during playback of a recorded program. When it occurs, it is just like I hit Pause but the Green status bar on the screen still shows it is in Playback. If I backup a little and then hit play again, it will play until the exact spot again and then will pause.
