Person of Interest - S4E09 - "The Devil You Know" - 11/25/2014

Well, that didn’t disappoint.

It looks like our crew has is in it even deeper now. They’re agreed that dealing with Elias is better than Dominic, hence the episode title.

But first Shaw has to escape from Martine, which she did in typical Shaw fashion and a little help from Root on her motorcycle.

Meanwhile goes to protect Elias and realizes that Dominic is still doing his research.

This helps show that Dominic is a thinker and just doesn’t rush into things but prefers to plan ahead.

And by planning ahead, we mean that he’s turning Elias’ people against him.

Forcing Reese to go on an action packed run with Elias and Scarface, who’s name we find out is Anthony.

Another thing that Person of Interest does well is build up the secondary characters. We’ve seen Elias over the years and he’s become an interesting character.

Sure, he’s a mob boss but we’ve also he’s a thinker and planner with his own code of honor.

He respects Reese and Finch and on some level, likes them, as he did with Detective Carter.

He’s also very aware of who Dominic is.

But we really didn’t know much about his relationship with Anthony other than that of boss/flunky until now and we see that not only is Anthony capable of loyalty and is extremely loyal to Elias, Elias is loyal to him.

(Contrast that with Dominic and Link and I’m not sure the same loyalty is there between those two. In fact, Link’s conversation with Anthony may hint that he may try to take down Dominic in the future.)

So there’s another war coming and Elias is out for blood. Which brings us to the Shaw problem.

With Martine and her hit squad now after Shaw, her effectiveness is limited during a time that Team Machine needs her the most.

Good for Lionel recognizing that Martine wasn’t a DEA agent and nice callback to Fusco’s desk camera.

(I hope that Harold got a photo of Martine from that.)

And yes, the throw down at the cosmetics counter was all that I hoped for.
