I switched back to streaming Netflix on my "classic" TiVo yesterday after trying streaming on the Blu-Ray player that I purchased around Christmas. I only have one Ethernet cable running into the living room and it was a hassle switching it between the player and TiVo when the guide was running low.
To my surprise, the response time when hitting pause or play during a Netflix show is much faster. It used to take about 10 seconds after hitting the button on the remote. Of course, there has been no software update, it is still 11.0, and my internet service is the same 15mb/sec.
So, although I realize that the original Series 3 is an ancient platform for Netflix, I am pleased with this improvement. I never liked searching or browsing for shows to put in "My List" on the Blu-Ray player anyways as it is so much easier using the computer and mouse. The only real advantage to me was that the player remembered the last episode of a TV series that I had streamed where as with the TiVo, I need to keep a notebook of the shows I have seen or go to the computer and check "recently viewed" on Netflix. Good News for Once!
