Happy Valley

This was mentioned in the Official British thread but it was so good I thought it deserved its own. I watched the first season when it premiered a couple years ago, thought it was pretty good. Just finished the second season, which was fantastic. It's as much human drama as crime drama. There's a lot going on and it's fascinating the way the various plot threads criss-cross and converge. The acting is top-notch, especially Sara Lancashire in the lead, running the gamut of emotions in pretty much every episode. She definitely deserves the Brit version of the Emmy award. Amazing, the quality of acting we see on tv these days, both here and across the pond.

I watch a lot of Brit tv and this ranks up there with the best, though it's very, very dark and intense, so probably not for every taste. Currently available on Netflix. Highly recommended.
