Minis as surge protection

I am not sure I need a mini but I am thinking it might provide a level of lightning protection for my TVs and other entertainment equipment. I am in SW Florida where thunderstorms are an everyday thing about half the year and having that big pecker sticking up in the air is just asking for a strike.
I know how to protect a LAN but other than good grounds on the mast and gas protectors, I am not sure about the antenna. I would like to limit the fire to the Tivo when I get hit.
