Question on roamio new hd

I bought a roamio on ebay that was reported
To have a bad hd. So i replaced it with a red 2tb
It loads up to welcome starting up screen. A few moments later screen goes black and same welcome screen pops up

Is this normal upon a new hd being installed? Does it take some time
