I just got thinking about the rovi guide rollout and a dark lightbulb just went off.....
Shouldn't we ALL be taking backups of our hard drives once all the dust settles?
Recently, most of us S3 and up, have had at least 2 software updates...potentially the update for MPEG, and then the update for the guide data, and THEN a large amount of new data downloaded.
Imagine the horror if you HD starts to go after all this and your only backup is from a few revs ago. Lord knows what will happen then. Hopefully it would repush everything but what a pain.
I may take a chance on opening mine (have done this all before) and taking another backup afterwards.
Or, at this point, being on a TiVoHD (caps/ps amazingly still look good) with several drive upgrades, it might be time to try and work a deal for a LT Roamio if mine starts to bite it. I just don't know if I want to risk it now, with the fall season days away. And then just deal if anything were to happen during the season.....
