Tivo Roamio OTA Won't Output Digital Surround Sound Audio

I completed the initial setup a few weeks ago. I have my Tivo connected to my TV via an HDMI cable an optical cable connecting to an available input on my surround sound receiver. I have "use dolby digital" selected in the audio settings on the Tivo. It appeared to work for the first few days that I had it, but then Tivo did a system update; removed a bunch of channels that I couldn't pick up with the antennae, and also seems to have disabled the audio optical output.

I have multiple surround sound devices connected to my receiver, and they all work fine. It doesn't matter whether it's Netflix, HBO Go, or Amazon Prime, no content source that I view on the Tivo will output digital audio. As a test, I tried watching an episode of Generation Kill on my Apple TV, and it output as digital audio no problem. That same episode on the Tivo: nothing.

I tried running the "guided setup" again, but that didn't help. I tried removing the HDMI cable to see if I could force the sound to use the optical output, but that didn't work either. I swapped the optical cable for a known working one with the same result. There doesn't seem to be any setting that I can find to select the optical output as the audio source. The only time I recall being given that option was on the very initial setup when I first powered it on.

The only thing left I can think to do is to try a factory reset, and run the initial setup again. If that doesn't work, I'm going to be returning the Tivo. Does anyone have any ideas?

- Thanks
