Am I the only one that didn't know?

My son told me that if I fast forward a recorded program that doesn't have skip mode during the advertisement that as soon as you see the program start, hit play and it will start right where the program starts after the advertisement. So I use it all the time now. I think you guys left me out of the loop. If its been discussed before I missed it.
