TiVo with lifetime service on payment plan?

If TiVo offered a way for you to buy a TiVo with lifetime service via a monthly payment, rather then all up front, do you think they would be more successful? I'm NOT talking about a perpetual monthly fee like some of the scheme they've tried in the past. I'm talking about a monthly fee with a set term limit after which you owned the box outright and it had lifetime service.

I know they've tried various schemes over the years to lower the entry point of the box, but most of them revolved...
