Tivo without Router

Due to my remote location, my internet access consists of broadband through my cell phone hotspot to connect my laptop to the Internet.

For the last 2 to 3 years, I have used my laptop, using my cellphone as a hotspot to connect to the Internet, as a way to download the channel guides about every two weeks on my TiVo. I hooked the TiVo ethernet cable into the laptop and used the ICS connection to download the channel guides. At first I used a tethered connection from the cell phone to the laptop. Then I started using the cell phone as a hotspot to get the laptop online, with the Tivo Ethernet cable plugged into the laptop. This worked fine for years, until!

I attempted last week to use a new phone with a different provider as a hotspot. The new phone would not allow the TiVo to connect through ICS, although the laptop did connect. I tried to go back to the old phone with the old provider and now it will not work either.

Does anybody know the set up to make this work again? Certainly there are other people out there who are using their laptop as a router to connect their TiVo, and downloading the channel guides every two weeks? Any help would be appreciated I have tried everything, don't know what changed when I tried the new phone with the new provider. Again thanks!
