Having to give up on TIVO

All,

After a skip of about 10 years, I decided to try TIVO as an alternative to Comcast's dvr. I originally had a series I TIVO and only gave it up because it would not record in HD. I used it for years.

After a little over one month I am putting my new Roamio plus and mini Roamio into mothballs and signing up again for a Comcast X1 dvr. I could not deal with the constant V58 errors and being bounced back and forth between TIVO and Comcast. It is "easy" to correct the situation, just like it was easy to wrap tin foil around your rabbit ears to get better reception, but in this day and age, it is something that I choose not to put up with.

I should point out that you cannot correct the situation if you are not physically present when the situation occurs, i.e. you need to either move one channel up, or down, and then back to the original channel, or power cycle the TIVO. Can't do that when you are at work and recording a show at home.

My strong recommendation to anyone contemplating buying a TIVO is DON'T do it unless TIVO offers you a money back guarantee that this problem has been solved.

Yes, yes, yes I have tried all the trouble shooting tips. My signal strength is 98/99, the one connection on the incoming line is tight, my cable card's firmware is up to date, I am using the multi-stream cable card.

I don't really care where the problem lies, Comcast or TIVO, until they work together to get it fixed DON"T BUY THE PRODUCT (until you can get the guarantee mentioned above).

Sorry TIVO,
