I have a few Premieres and two Series 3 TiVo. I have been using the older TiVo Desktop software to occasionally transfer shows from any of them to my networked desktop. I then convert the .TIVO files to a more common format using certain free software.
Its been a while since I did this, but recently I was trying to do this with a locally recorded show on the TiVo Premiere and it would not convert properly. Tried it 4 different times and 3 different pieces of conversion software (that always worked in the past), but no luck.
I then transferred the recording from the Premiere to a Series 3. Used the desktop software to transfer it and then tried converting it. This time it happened.
Do the Series 3s record items differently than the Premieres. I have Comcast and recently got a letter about how basically my Series 3 will no longer work with Comcast cause of the MPEG upgrade. I think I have read about this here too. Would this possibly have something to do with why I had an issue with the Premiere and not the Series 3?
