Tivo Premiere and Shaw Direct satellite

stupid question that my searches didn't find an answer for, likely due to my wording:

can Tivo Premiere be used to record from a satellite receiver? I would assume an IR blaster would be needed? My receivers (Motorola - Shaw Direct, Canada) have both antenna and component outputs

if so, you'd just enter the Canadian postal code during setup?
