I currently have the following:
Wiring Closet:
- Cable Modem
- Ethernet Switch
- ActionTec MOCA Adapter
Family Room:
- ActionTec MOCA Adapter
- Ethernet Switch
- Apple TV
- TV w/cable box
Bonus Room:
- ActionTec MOCA Adapter
- Ethernet Switch
- Apple TV
- TV w/cable box
Bedroom:
- TV w/cable box
I'm going to be putting the Roamio in Family Room, and Minis in Bonus and Bedroom. In the Bedroom, I'd obviously connect Mini via Coax and let its internal MOCA adapter be used. For the other two locations, would I see any advantage in using coax vs. connecting to the existing switches and ride through the existing MOCA network. Note that there is additional equipment attached to those switches so I can't simply remove the ActionTec adapters and go with the builtin. I still need those switches connected.
Hopefully this made sense. I am looking into running CAT5 to 3 of these locations, but it will be difficult as its opposite ends of the house.
