I have 3 Tivo's, all with lifetime, 2 of which do not have the service plan. My understanding is the service plan is for repair and or replacement during the 3 years of coverage for $40. In addition, if a replacement is needed, it costs $59
(I'm not quite sure of that cost, but close to it).
Since the lifetime cannot be transferred to a replacement unit, that doesn't even enter into the equation.
Here's my question. Does it make sense to get the extended service plan on an OTA Roamio which only cost $50 to begin with. I'm thinking no on that. The Roamio Basic is another story. It's a refurb that I also paid $50 for on the recent sale Tivo had.
I would appreciate any input. Thanks
