Series 3 remote on fritz, new tivo?

So I have an extremely too complicated setup where my series 3 hd tivo is in the basement and I have a 50ft hdmi cable to go upstairs to the family room and then I output the composite signal to quad channel modular to send the tivo around in sd around the house over coax.

I have an extremely complicated remote control system where I use Xantech to shoot the tivo remote from whatever room I'm in, into the garage where the tivo is.

I have tried leapfrog and nextgeneration and they all work for a while but eventually crap out.

My xantech doesn't seem to be working and I've tried replacing it and for some reason, it's not working. Too many wires to figure out whats going on.

So I want to simply but haven't bought a new tivo since 2007 or 2009.

1. Does the tivo RF remote stuff really work?
2. If so, how far?
3. What's the best deal? Premiere or romaio or bolt? Ideally, I would like one tivo and 3 or 4 minis. Also, do I need to wait is there something new coming out? Or the merger, is tivo doomed?
4. I've been a customer since 2002 if that helps.
5. Anyway to sync two tvs to one tivo or mini? I have a tv in the kitchen and family room that I like to have all on the same station.

I know far too complicated but any advice would help.
