Any fix for guided setup stuck on preparing to get listings?

I have a Humax series 2 that I left unplugged a long time after successful usage. now it is stuck in guided setup, after it connects and successfully downloads the list of cable companies. it posts a message that it will take about 20 minutes to get the listings, and then it hangs on the next screen in the first step of preparing. no error messages, it just never gets beyond preparing. I thought it might have corrupted data from previous usage. any ideas on what I can do to fix it? thanks!
