Keep getting error code 161-1. On my third cable card, could it be the Bolt? Verizon

Posted this on reddit but I think I would have better luck here.

I've had a tivo bolt since March. First cable card I received was fine up until about two weeks ago. Then I started getting error code 161-1 saying there was an issue with the card. The tivo wasn't recognizing that there was a cable card inserted. Got a new motorolla card, and that didn't work. Got a third card a couple of days ago that worked for a bit, and now I'm starting to get the error again.

Today I was getting the error, unplugged the tivo and let it sit for a couple of hours and when I got back home, it was reading the card again.

How would I be able to tell if its the tivo itself that's malfunctioning and not the card? I have a bolt and a mini. One thing I did notice is that the cable card and the underside of the bolt are very hot when its malfunctioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is really frustrating.
