I've got a Tivo Mini which is assigned to a Tivo Bolt. They are connected via hardwired ethernet, through two smart switches.
My problem is that the Tivo Mini doesn't find the Tivo Bolt, if the Bolt is not in use. Usually that means that I turn on the Mini, it reports that the Bolt isn't found, and then I walk to the Bolt to turn it on. Only then the Mini will find it. I can safely turn the Bolt off and use the Mini without issues at that point.
With "turn on" I mean start actively using it - I know that the Bolt isn't going into deep standby. But for some reason, it's invisible to the Mini before.
So far I've been unable to fix this. Some ideas I had regarding the cause of this:

- I'm using DHCP on both, would static IPs help?
- I've seen similar issues in the past with "Green Ethernet" features on switches, where they shut down a port if there's no activity for a while. But I haven't seen that my current network equipment uses that.
