My existing external esata drive

Hi, Tivo. I currently use a 2tb fantom external esata drive of my own on my directv dvr. I am considering switching to Verizon Fios -- and getting a tivo roamio. Will I able to able to use this drive with my roamio? If so, does it work as an additional drive or does it replace the internal tv drive?
