I thought I should post the "solution" I found for my random V58 errors.
Three months ago I purchased a Tivo Roamio plus and installed the cable card supplied by the Comcast service center in my area. Four cable cards later and numerous V58 errors, I found out that I was being supplied the wrong cable card for a Tivo.
I found a reference on the internet that suggested going to the Comcast forum site, choosing Tivo, and describing my problem. I did so and the next day I received a telephone call from a technician in Colorado who walked me through all the diagnostics that then determined that I had the wrong card. He told me to go to the service center and request an 801 card.
At the service center I was told that in Florida, the 802 card was the only card that Comcast used.
I reported this back to the tech in Colorado and the next day I received a call from a technician in Fort Myers, where I live, who said he had two 801 cards in front of him, and asked when he could come out and install them.
Apparently, Comcast equipment use a multi-stream cable card, which as an internal model number of 802. This card has a silver and white exterior. The Tivo Roamio requires an 801 (or 800) model number. This card is silver and aqua in color (at least that is the color for the 801 card).
I was constantly being supplied 802 cards by my "service" center.
The 801 card downloaded the latest firmware available in this area 1.5.3 1201 and hopefully all is well.
So, if you are having V58 problems with Comcast
1) be sure you have an 801 card installed
2) to get knowledgeable service support, use the Comcast forum.
And please, TIVO, provide your support techs with this information. There is more than one party negligent here.
