Basic model vs Plus

After 3 days with the basic I threw in the towel and ordered a plus for $329 this AM. The basic unit worked great but I
decided I only bought the basic in case I someday go OTA, but for the $13 TW charges for their starter channels I can't ever see myself going out and having to buy 5 antennas for OTA.

I knocked my TW mo bill down by $95 to $75 by going with starter channels and standard internet (15 MB). So my break even on the better model with 1 mini = $459 or divided by my $96 monthly TW bill reduction is only 4.78 months. I'm fine with the 20 or so starter channels and Netflix plus Amazon Prime's streaming services.

The annual tivo service of $12.50 a month is still way less than the $33 I was paying TW a mo. for two dvr's, remotes, guide and dvr service plus taxes. Their DVR models have always been slow and noisy and constantly updating or making hard drive noises, especially in my bedroom.

The posts from other members have steered me into the Plus's built in moca and streaming features. Double the hard drive to a TB and the two extra tuners. I think the Plus is even costing me like -$31 "less" now over the basic unit with add ons was going to finally cost me after I added on a tivo streaming device.

I did get the $28 square trade add on warranty. I hate warranty's, never get them and usually figure my credit card extends the warranty anyway but I'd rather just have them swap it out or repair or replacemnt without paying a $50 deductible each time.

I know how finicky dvr recorders can be as over the years (since I always had two) I'm sure I've swapped back at least 5 times with TW for one issue or another.

Thx again for all of your input. I know it gets redundant from all the newbies asking the same basic questions without bothering to search threads first.

I would like some input on the $28 warranty though, I've read a lot of back and forth threads . . . thumbs up or thumbs down???
