I just want to share a problem I had that I ultimately fixed but might affect others.
I recently changed the video output setting on my Roamio Pro and my Mini to 1080p only. Both are connected to televisions that can receive 1080p and everything seemed to work fine.
Today I started watching a recording on my Mini and there was stuttering every 5 seconds or so. Even when I went to Live TV on the same channel there was stuttering. Everything was fine on the source material on the Roamio Pro.
I noticed this was happening on channels 503, 505, 507 and 509 which, here with FIOS, are HD versions of broadcast channels. Everything was fine, however, on channels 502, 504, 509, 511, 513; on SD versions of the channels or on other HD channels.
After restarting the Mini, removing the Slingbox from the connection and tightening wires I still experienced the stuttering. I then changed the video output back to 1080i and the stuttering went away.
Interestingly, the channels that had the stuttering are channels that transmit in 720p. Those that transmit in 1080i or 480i were unaffected.
So the mini was unsuccessful in converting a 720p video into 1080p. That's "all" it was.
