I transferred 3 night manager episodes to my windows 7 PC using TiVo desktop. They were recorded from AMCHD. When I tried to play the .tivo files with windows media player, all I got was a black screen with no sound. Another program from ABC that I transferred at the same time, played fine. The shows also played fine on the TiVo. Delete the files and transferred again, same result.
Converted the .tivo file to .mpg with kttmg, .mpg file also would not play.
Transferred the episode with kttmg, the .tivo file also would not play, same black screen, but kttmg also created a .ts file this time. And the .ts file played!
Any ideas what's going on? Why did kttmg create a .ts file as part of the transfer vs a .mpg converting the TiVo desktop .tivo file?
Why is the night manager program different than any other program? Is it a different codec because it's British?

Ok, I just googled and saw that because I recently changed desktop option yo fast transfer, that the TiVo decoder doesn't know what to but kmttg can handle it.
Why did the abc show work? Once upon a time if it matters.
