I bought the orignal Tivos years ago and have been on uverse for the last 8 years or so. I just bought the new BOLT and love it and am catching up on all things Tivo.
To that end, I read the super great interview with the CMO at Tivo. It was delightful. I have a suggestion for something that was not brought up:
there are bound to be some applications Tivo doesn't want to get out in front of - e.g.. the commerical skip feature like ReplayTV had- probably would piss off partners. Tivo since the beginning has been caught between the Devil and the Deep blue sea.
So why not open up the API to 3rd party developers. Give them a Tivo SDK to allow them to write extensions much like you can with Chrome. One example would be a commercial skip function like the old replaytvs had. It worked on everything by autodetecting the breaks. And tivo wouldnt have to support it or put dev resources into it.
