Any deals on Lifetime for TivoHD?

Have a couple of TivoHD's that my parents use and pay the MSD of $6.95. Are there any deals for Lifetime Tivo has recently offered or is it even worth it?

Thanks!

The Walking Dead "Coda" 11/30/14 | Talking Dead 11/30/14 No preview spoilers

OMG! I didn't see that coming.

I knew something would happen because she had the scissors, but that is not what I was expecting.

And if you stopped watching before the previews of 5b, you missed the extra scene with Morgan.

Madam Secretary - "Game On" (S1 E11) - 11/30/14

I'm really enjoying this series. I caught it originally by accident, but I'm still hooked.

I've been enjoying both each episode's main story and the multi-episode arc. I'm not sure where they're going to go with the investigation of Marsh's death now that Jackson's in the loop.

Replacing a crashed Tivo hard drive

My Tivo Premiere XL hard drive crashed so I have no image to transfer to a new hard drive. I need an image for a TCD748000.

Also, not sure how to use it. I'm going to use JMFS but the only options are copy, expand, supersize. How do I use an image?

Thanks!

Desktop Transfers Have Same Name In Folder

I am transferring seasons of various TV programs from my PC using Tivo Desktop 2.8.3 to my Roamio. The programs are transferring just fine, but the episode titles within the folder are all coming up the same name of the first episode transferred.

Example: Season 3 of 24 will create the proper folder name (24 - Season 3) but each of the 24 episode under the folder is labeled "10:00-11:00", even though all the individual episodes are transferred and playing properly.

Some series are .mp4, some are .avi. Tivo help desk said I have corrupted the system by transferring anything other than .mp2/4 or .tivo and will not cover it under warranty.

Anyone else experience this or have suggestions?

TiVO Roamio and Logitech Revue

I've enjoyed my Logitech Revue and had it working through my TiVO 3. I'm upgrading to a Roamio (just the basic model) and wonder if I even need the Revue in the mix anymore. I loved the full keyboard and the google browser, but I don't use the browser anymore and can just cast my laptop. Will the Roamio do the trick? Can I retire the Revue?

Thanks for any advice!

Constantine - S1E06 - "Rage of Caliban"

I really enjoyed this episode! The lack of Zed, the active involvement of Chas as a partner, and the general feel of the exorcism made for an entertaining show. The network even let our chap light a cigarette at the end! (but they cut away before he could inhale, bloody wankers)

If it weren't so specifically taking place on Halloween, this would have made a very good second episode.

Do i still need tuning adapter for SDV channels with Cox Phoenix?

I read an article in Sound & Vision magazine while traveling (left magazine on plane, so can't recite it exactly) that lead me to believe TiVo had updated their software so that tuning adapters were no longer necessary for switched digital channels.

I called TiVo to confirm, and CSR said that yes, this was the case for Cox. So i unhooked my adapter and about half the channels i knew were switched tuned in, and half didn't. I called Cox, and they had no clue what i was talking about. I called TiVo back, and the CSR rep i got this time also had no clue about this. She even said that the summer update didn't need tuning adapter but now that winter update has been released, I DO need a tuning adapter.

This article also indicates tuning adapters no longer necessary: http://www.multichannel.com/news/tec...eo-tech/376007

Would love to ditch my tuning adapters. Anyone have the straight story on this?

Thanks!

Streaming to iPad

First off, just wanted to say "hi" as I just joined the Tivo Community. I had a Directv Tivo many years ago (before high def) and loved it. I finally got a Roamio plus and a Mini and love it. I'm not sure how I put up with my cable company's DVR all these years!

I do have one issue that I'm hoping someone here can help me with: I cannot seem to stream content to my iPad at home. I set up a tivo.com account and downloaded the app. I can connect to my Tivo but all streaming abilities are grayed out. It keeps saying "DVR unable to stream. Tivo DVR does not support out-of-home streaming". It would appear my Tivo isn't on the same home network?

I have a MoCA set up that is connected to my Airport Extreme wireless router via ethernet (and to my Mini via cable). My cable provider (Astound Cable) set it up yesterday but I neglected to test streaming before the installer left.

Help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can a Premiere stream from another Premiere without a CC?

I have a Premiere that I no longer want to record on as everything else records on my main Premiere which has the TB extender on it. Can I remove the CC & SDV box from the Premiere I want to in essence use like a Mini and stream content off of the Premiere with a CC & SDV box?

Need suggestions for OTA setup

I currently have my TiVo thru DirecTV and have decided I am tired of paying $126/month for 100s of channels I don't watch. I have a season pass setup for 3-4 shows that are on local TV. I have Showtime, but I rarely watch that any more. I recently joined Netflix. I like TiVo's search capability to look for shows or movies I may want to watch. I usually record shows and watch them later. Only thing I watch real time are sports (although I am not a major sports fan.)

I live in a rural area - my only options for TV are DirecTV and Dish. My house is for sale, but has not sold yet (it could take awhile.)

I am thinking about an OTA setup. I have not yet bought a digital antenna but am planning on it.

I will need help with wiring setup as I am generally clueless on wiring and the specific technology needed. The person I will likely call will suggest different brands, etc. so I would rather have what I want (TiVo) specifically defined.

Current setup:

I live 50-60 miles from the city where I would like to pick up local channels (also where I intend to move.) I checked antennapoint.com – the main 5 channels are between 52-60 miles from me (exact address on this side doesn't recognize my house - I am about 5 miles north of where my zipcode is centered):

WMTV

NBC 19 15.1 UHF 56.0 kW Madison 52.10 mi 205.88°

WKOW-TV

ABC 26 27.1 UHF 400.0 kW Madison 52.89 mi 208.42°

WHA-TV

PBS 20 21.1 UHF 100.0 kW Madison 52.89 mi 208.42°

WMSN-TV

FOX 49 47.1 UHF 280.0 kW Madison 52.89 mi 208.42°

WISC-TV

CBS 50 3.1 UHF 603.0 kW Madison 52.89 mi 208.42°

The dish outside is on my garage roof, which does not have a direct line of sight towards Madison, my 2nd story may be in the way (although – maybe it’s not as bad as I think.) I don’t care for the large branch type of antennas (I am concerned about aesthetics since my house is for sale.)

I have a wired/wireless router in my office (other side of main room wall) - speed is 10MB

Main room: Samsung UN50EH6000F (May 2012)

I have the TiVo plugged into the satellite wall connection. I watch everything thru the DirecTV TiVo box. The info on my TV said I have ATSC/Clear QAM.

Bedroom TV: Dynex LCD TV DX-L26-10A (March 2009)

I have a 2nd DirecTV receiver (not TiVo) for this TV, also a satellite wall connection. The attic where the antenna would need to go is above my bedroom closet on the 2nd floor. I would need wiring connected there to the current wiring.

New setup:

I probably need the Mohu - SKY 60 Outdoor/Attic Amplified Multidirectional HDTV Antenna – or something similar. I have an attic where it can be directed appropriately.

I want the above 5 channels available with good quality display. I don’t know what the WMTV 56.0 kW implies – weaker signal?

The TiVo Roamio OTA for $49.99 seems to be a good deal to me. The $15/month fee is fine. (Even with the $8/mth Netflix fee – it still beats $126/mth by a lot!)

I need something to connect my bedroom TV. TiVo Mini – or anything cheaper than $150?

I do not need to share/watch anything on my phone.

Thank you for all suggestions!

Same show showing in "My Shows" and "Recently Deleted"

I can't seem to delete it from either place. Interestingly, the "recently deleted" menu to delete is not the normal one. It is the same one as the "my shows" menu in both places. Anyone have any guidance as to how to get rid of it? All I can get is the spinning circle and it stays put where it is.

Raising the dead?

After finally having too much of Comcast and their crazy fees I'm thinking of coming back home to TIVO. Been a customer since 2003.

I'm installing an over the air antenna in a few days to receive local TV stations. I also have a Sony DVR-3000 with lifetime that has been gathering dust for a few years.

Do I understand correctly that the DVR-3000 still works and does anyone know if it will work with OTA broadcasts to output HD? Or is there a converter needed to change the signal to HD? My TV is a relatively recent purchase (2 years ago).

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Channel Problems Report not set up for OTA

I just filed a missing channel report (again) on Tivo's website. I find it ironic that they seems to be acknowledging the OTA market but yet the web site is set up for only reporting problems with cable or satellite. In the space that must be completed for provider I typed "antenna only" and could not leave the block for provider's phone number blank so actually entered the phone number of the TV station in question. There is no way on the form to report incorrect actual digital frequency numbers. I tried (again) to explain it in the space provided below.

I know from experience not to call a service representative about these problems since as soon as they hear the word "antenna" they start telling me that they are not responsible for adequate reception and that I must need a better antenna. No matter how many times I try to explain that I have strong reception if I scan in the missing frequency, but the problem is that there is no guide information for scanned channels, they will go right back to telling me I need a better antenna. Time will tell if this attempt is any more successful.

Quick question about Season Passes

I'm upgrading a Roamio Plus with a 3 TB drive tomorrow. Any way I can transfer my existing Season Pass information from the original HD, or am I stuck manually re-entering them all after the upgrade? If I am, that's no problem, but just wanted to check if there was a shortcut before I start. Thanks.

How Long Before Tivo is Gone?

When will On-Demand make Tivo and all DVRs obsolete? No "if" - WHEN.

Like the VCR before it, Tivo is transitional technology. It has a limited shelf-life. When will "the cloud" take over?

Tivo is costly between the price of the box and the cost of the subscription. Worst of all, it does not adapt to short-notice or no-notice schedule changes. Shows don't start or end on time and get clipped. With on-demand, that doesn't happen.

Tivo has shown no interest in solving the problem. Their only interest is add-ons that mean money for them, not benefits to users. Corporate greed now reigns, not technology.

Tivo's streaming capabilities are inferior to Roku, to Chromecast, to Kindle and the rest. People have been asking for Amazon Prime on Tivo and have been ignored.

Tivo deserves to go belly up.

Cover removal Roamio PLUS

My PLUS won't arrive for four days but scanning quickly through the "HDD" replacement thread there seems to be confusion as to what's required for cover removal and the tools required.

Would someone mind addressing the PLUS specifically? Maybe a snapshot of the cover retention features to the sides etc. I had seen similar questions asked in the HDD thread but checking a few posts after the request I didn't see responses. It seems the majority of the thread was devoted to the BASE Roamio which of course is a different cabinet.

I've not checked a PLUS or PRO in a showroom and those showrooms if they display the PLUS and PRO are all nearly a 30 mile drive.

It appears that the cover may just slide to the rear or lift directly off as one might suspect. I'd just like to be prepared.

Thank you

Tivo Mini Vudu Log Out?

Hopefully a dumb question...

I logged into Vudu on my new Tivo mini with the wrong Vudu account. Where do I log out of Vudu on the mini so I can log in with the correct one?

Roamio Basic, Moca Adapter, HELP

I've got at least one problem with my new (attempted) Roamio Basic/Mini/Moca setup; maybe two. I've been troubleshooting for ages and scouring every article I can find. I'm totally stuck!

Problems, in brief:

Since setting up my Moca network, my Roamio Basic can't connect to the network in any way other than via direct ethernet. (Moca doesn't work, but more strangely, neither does connecting by WiFi. The thing is, my WiFi network is fine with my other devices. I've got no connectivity issues when using my computers, phones, or tablets and the same router.)

Background:

- I've had this ROAMIO BASIC running happily in my living room for about a year.

- I've wirelessly connected it all of that time with an ASUS RT-N56U router, also in the living room.

- My setup has been basic. The COMCAST cable entry point is in the garage, where I have it split. One line goes into a big coax-splitting array that snakes through the house to coax jacks in my walls; the other, into a COMCAST-issued modem (modem only; no router functionality). From the modem, I run ethernet into a big LINKSYS switch, where it goes to CAT5 jacks throughout the house.

SO, here's what's happened so far:

1) I decided to set up a MINI in the bedroom. I understand that my Roamio Basic doesn't have built-in Moca, so I bought two ACTIONTEC ADAPTERS and a POE FILTER.

2) I put the POE filter where my cable begins, in the garage, upstream of the first splitter.

3) I installed the first Actiontec like this: coax into the adapter, and then out into the modem. From my modem, ethernet runs into the switch (as before), and from an output on the switch, into the adapter.

I have a second Moca adapter, and yes, I've tried hooking it up to the Roamio Basic in my living room - but that's not important, because the problem begins earlier:

With just the one upstream Moca adapter installed, I can't connect my Roamio to the network even via basic WiFi, even though my WiFi network is working fine. I can see the networks, but in trying to connect, I get (N02) or (N07) errors every time. Remember, though:

- It connected to the same wifi network just fine before installing the upstream Moca adapter.

- My other devices still connect to the wifi network.

- My Roamio does connect if I link it to the router via Cat5 cable; it's only wifi that's not working.

I've tried every combination of resetting, restarting, and rebooting each of the items in this chain (the modem, the router, the Tivo itself).

What's going on?

Thanks a bunch. Let me know what other info I could provide.

Tivo Stream

stream from Tivo server for mac.

tivo stream outside home network.

So I do not have to buy a Tivo stream.

TV and Recorded Shows on the go

I am somewhat confused Tivo is saying I can watch TV and my Shows while away from home with all their ads but I can't find how to actually do it on their website.

Sounds like SlingBox might be the way to go but why are they telling you you can do something and not providing the steps to do it?

Anyway, if SlingBox is the answer where is the cheapest place I can get one?

Also the best way to download Live TV and Recorded shows for my Laptop.

btw I have read a post in the forums but it is about 3/4 years old.

I have a Tivo Roamio with Time Warner Cable.

Thanks folks

Series 3 cable card question

Hi everyone, just was wondering if I can use 1 M cable card with the Series 3 tivo. I have one with lifetime just gathering dust - if I have to get two cable cards, I'm not sure if I am going to use it or not :(

Anyone using a Logitech Harmony remote with a Roamio?

I was thinking about picking up a Harmony 700 or 650 and wondering if it will work well with the Roamio.

pyTiVo: can I restart without losing the queue?

Hello, I fairly often have a problem where my wife queues up a bunch of shows to transfer to my NAS, and halfway through, it freezes up. Maybe because I have MOCA, and the network is a little flaky. (I think some of the coax in the wall may not be in the best shape.)

Anyway, whenever this happens, I've been terminating the DOS window where pyTiVo is running (I run it on a Windows XP maching), and then relaunch it. It works fine again, but all the queued shows because unqueued, and my wife has to requeue them up again.

By chance, am I overlooking a trick where I could restart it without losing the queue? If there's not a way, we'll just continue doing what we're doing, but if there is a way, I'd be interested to hear about it.

Latest options for traveling with Tivo??

The vast majority of info I've been able to find with information about traveling with a TiVo is 6 to 10 years old. I expect things have changed quite a bit since 2005!

We currently have a TiVo Premiere and two Series 3 TiVo's. We'll be escaping from our NY home to a property in FL for a month or two and would like to keep our TiVo addiction intact. Wouldn't the simplest option be just to take one of our boxes with us and connect it to the cable system at our destination?

Do any of the latest versions such as Roamio have additional features that could work better?

In much of the info I've been able to find folks are also recommending 3rd party solutions such as Slingbox, Roku, etc. Trying to figure out if there's any advantages with these types of systems over just taking along a TiVo. We do have IOS & Android tablets, but I expect most TV watching will be at the FL residence using the main television.

Any insights that could help us figure out the best way to go would be much appreciated!

Shows in To Do List not being marked in Upcoming Shows

I have noticed recently that shows that are already in my To Do List are not marked as already scheduled when I look at Upcoming shows for the same program.

For example, I have several college football games scheduled for today. However, when I do a search for "College Football" and then click on Upcoming, I do not see the already scheduled games marked with a check mark. I believe anything that was already in the To Do list, regardless of whether it was scheduled manually from the TiVo, via a Season Pass, or from the website, always showed up with an indicator in the Upcoming list.

I have a Roamio.

Is it worth it

I have a tivo premiere xl 2 tuner w/lifetime. I also have fios quantum which consists of 2 dvr's 4 satalite boxes and 1 cable card. I pay $159.99 for triple play plus $32 for quantum service $45.99 for boxes and $4.99 for cable card. I get a $22 credit for 2 year agreement. To go all tivo I need a romio plus 4 mini's and 1 cable card.I have tivo since 2002 so I think I can get a romio for $499 w/lifetime. 4 mini's at $249 each. Is this correct? Can I do better? In my current tivo I can record 150 hrs. Is the romio plus the same size? how much more do I get with a 3tb HD. One more thing If I record a program downstairs with the romio, can 2 people upstairs watch the same program starting 30 minutes apart? thanks ,Gary

Exiting Amazon Prime If It Freezes

On two occasions Amazon Streaming froze and the only way I could exit was a hard reboot - none of the remote buttons worked. Does anyone know of another way to exit the app if/when it freezes other than a hard reboot?

BTW, other than those two instances I'm delighted with the app.

Thanks

MINI with HDMI AUDIO CONVERTER

Does anyone have experience using the MINI with the converter? My second room has no HDMI "in" on the receiver and I'm not interested in replacing a very good receiver for just that function.

There's a few out there but I was considering this from MONOPRICE. The link is to the .pdf that displays several possible "connection" schemes:

http://www.monopricehub.com/files/ma...ual_130402.pdf

I'd like maybe a Roamio and a MINI to replace 2 lesser XL's to rid myself of a second cable card fee and the second HD outlet fee that Comcast seems to not want to negotiate any longer.

I found all the WW II documentaries. They're on AHC.

I'd never heard of the American Heroes Channel until last week. I discovered it while browsing through the standard def channels looking for the SD version of H2. It's a Discovery Network channel. I used to watch a lot of WW II documentaries back when the History Channel was nicknamed the Nazi Channel. The History Channel is a joke now and H2 is headed that way if you like watching historical documentaries. AHC doesn't just show WW II documentaries but a lot of its content is military. It's only in SD on my Comcast. I haven't watched a SD channel in years but it only takes a minute or two for me to get used to it.

combining ota and cable together -- like the good old days

So recently in Massachusetts Verizon Fios subscribers lost access to Fox 25 which is available over the air. My thought was to set up my Tivo Premiere Elite to get just that channel OTA but alas no antenna input. My Tivo Series 3 does this just perfectly. Then I looked at the new Roamio's, and discovered that they can be set to ONLY OTA or ONLY cable (and only on the basic model, but not both at the same time).

My suggestion is that given cases of subscriber services losing access to important channels seems to be more common these days.... it would be nice to have a modern tivo that can combine these features so that it is possible to come up with a solution like I have with the Tivo Series 3. Preferably on the high end Tivo's as well as the basic models.

Is the Galavant preview TiVo's First IP Streamed Ad?

I watched the "Star" Preview for "Galavant" in the Discovery Bar and noticed it was a Streaming IP based Ad rather than one recorded from the Teleworld programing. This method seems much more efficient, and could lead to many more advertisements.

Is this the first time TiVo has done this?

This could lead to Ads showing up on the Mini also, now that they do not need to record them to the HDD.

The Amazing Race OAD 11/28/14 "You're Taking My Tan Off"

Ok, I liked Brooke and Robbie but now they are on my "feces roster" They screwed over the sweet scientists and talked waaay too much smack about them-that is not cool!

I am all for running your own race but you don't sabotage others!:down:

It seemed a little too convenient for me that surfing was the "Fast-Forward" challenge, but I guess these things are planned way in advance of casting...the poor cyclists!

The massage/exfoliation/cupping did look horrifying!

Others' thoughts?

Should I upgrade my TivoHD to lifetime or upgrade to Roamio?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been paying monthly service fee on a TivoHD for much too long. :(

It works fine for me (though it does have a HDD that's much too loud.)

Anyway, wondering what you guys would suggest?

I only use it for cable DVR. The web streaming is all taken care of by my Roku.

In the future, I'll probably cut the cord and only do broadcast tv. I'm currently only subscribed to broadcast channels on cable since it's bundled into my cable internet. We don't watch a ton of TV and I'm reluctant to invest a ton of money in the fix.

- I could upgrade TivoHD to lifetime for $99, and replace the HDD with a quieter one.

- I could upgrade to Roamio or Roamio Plus for $399/$499 on the 10+ year subscriber deal

- ???

Are there other ways to go?

Fox 25/Cox vs Verizon FiOS in MA

It appears the piddling contest has gotten serious. Verizon has gone as far as pushing a lineup change to remove the Cox-owned station. WFXT, WFXTDT, and WFXTDT2 have all been replaced with VZ03 and a loop explaining the problem from VZN's perspective.

Any victims of the dispute will have to find Sleepy Hollow, Bones, and others someplace else.

How do I get the Amazon Legacy App back?

I am a frequent user of the Amazon Instant video, in fact, after losing

my 'on demand' during the roamio "upgrade" it has become the only

source I have for watching TV shows I have missed, and movies I dont

want to bother buying a DVD for.

My trouble is my internet connection shuts off randomly, its slow, and

my router isnt strong enough to make a direct connection with the Tivo.

I am happy with this situation - thats all I am going to say about it.

My issue however is that with the new 'winter update' SOMEONE (I

say that because Tivo says its Amazon and Amazon says its Tivo)

changed the old download system into a streaming system. Now when

I try to download a show, after four or five hours of download the

connection resets and I have to start all over. I have not been able to

watch missed shows since.

I see no point in keeping the upgraded unit if all I can do is catch 75%

of the shows its supposed to record.

Tivo has basically told me tough ****, live with it - Amazon says its out

of their hands, but will no longer refund digital content even if it does

not finish downloading. Is there any way to return back to the old app

system, or is there another way to get the new system to download

like the old system?

Thanks,

strange Android app issue: no option to record certain programs

Yesterday I was using my Nexus 5 running Android 5.0 with the Tivo App P2.0.1-761440 to browse and record some of the usual holiday repeats like Frosty the Snowman and Charlie Brown Christmas.

I found the first airing of Frosty that would air the next day (11/28/2014). However, there was no button option for me to record the showing.

I thought this was odd since I had just used my phone to set the parade to record, and I had no issues with recording that program. It seemed to be just this program. I didn't explore other programs to see if there was a pattern.

I brought up the Tivo iPad app and was able to find Frosty and set it to record from that app.

FiOS dropped Fox - how do I add back Via HDTV antenna (TiVoHD)

HI - this is sort of a How-to question. I have FiOS cable and cablecard on my HDTiVo. Locally Cox bought the local FOX channel and took it off FiOS until Verizon ups their payment. If I connect an HDTV antenna to the HD TiVo (I'm close enough to get signal), how do I program the TiVo to access channels on the antenna - not obvious from the menus (at least to me). I understand that i may have to manual-program for my fox channels (just a couple), and that's cool, but how do I get the TiVo to record off antenna whilst still recording most everything off cable?

Thanks!!!

Tivo App (Android) Crashes When Checking for Streaming Devices

I have an LG G3, trying to use the Tivo Android App for streaming. When the app goes through streaming set-up it displays "checking for streaming devices" and then crashes after a few seconds with "unfortunately tivo has stopped". If I go into settings and check Streaming Information the app scans for devices and then shows my stream info which shows my Romio with status "Active". But if I try to set up streaming it crashes once again. Any ideas how to get around this?

BTW, the notes on the latest Tivo app release notes "Fix for crash on some LG-G3 devices during the stream setup", but still not working.

Please answer in this other thread if you know which OTA digital to analog boxes work with S2s, or remember where there was a thread which covered that here instead of just offering links to elsewhere.

The stuff I've found that links to tivo.com is all 404'ed, even the ones that tivo.com offers as search answers.

Streaming video files (MKV, MP4, etc).. possible?

Is there a way to do this yet? Be great if there is.

Changing TiVo Name

Hello all... Just bought a new Roamio for the family room to replace my Premier, and moved my Premier to the bedroom. The Premier was called "family room" when I first set it up. Would anyone know how to go about changing the label to "Bedroom" on the Premier so when I open the app on my iPad I can tell which is which... Thanks

Copy Priemere drive to Romio?

I currently have a Preimere Elite, that when I first got it I upgraded to a full 2TB drive.

I decided to take advantage of the Thanksgiving special and grab a TiVo Romio Plus for $99.

Although obviously it has a smaller Hard drive, and can only record about 150hrs of HD programing.

Before... I just copied the old drive to the new drive and expanded it! Of course this worked. I can't remember what software I used to copy and expand. but I have it around somewhere...

So my question are these...

1. Can I use that same software to copy the new drive in the romio to a larger hard drive? And what is the largest drive I can put in the Romio without extra "work". Is it a 3TB or a 4TB?

2. Can I just put the priemere drive into the Romio?

3. Can I copy the Premere drive to a newer drive and enlarge it, then put it in the Romio?

4. Is there a way to backup and save and move the content from one drive to another drive outside the TiVo?

The problem I have is that I want to give away my Priemere Elite unit to a family member.

But I have 180hrs of Copy protected shows on the Premere drive that I can't move to my computer, NAS or other TiVo's. (Ugg this is why I hate copy protection, I have the right to keep it them, I should have the right to protect them again'st loss. This is why I support bootlegging.

Help with Premiere XL4 and Time Warner Cable

Hello, all. New member here.

I just upgraded from an old Tivo HD, to a Premiere XL4 (no, I didn't get a Roamio, for a variety of reasons). I'm in Los Angeles, and have Time Warner Cable, with a cable card and a tuning adapter.

I took the cable card out of the old unit, put it in the new one, and installed the XL4 in my system. After pairing the new unit with TWC, I was able to get things started.

However, as strange as it may sound, I'm receiving a signal on only 2 of the 4 tuners in the XL4. After an hour on the phone with a Tivo tech, going over the diagnostics, the only thing she could see was that my Signal to Noise ration on the 2 active tuners was too high (38-39 dB; she said it should be more like 36). It was suggested that I have TWC install a dampener or attenuator on the line, to lower the SNR.

TWC can't come out for a couple of weeks, and I'm not particularly optimistic anyway. Does anyone have any thoughts about what seems to me to be a strange phenomena? Thanks.

Michael

Can't use Android app to schedule recordings

For the past couple of days when I select a future program from the guide in the Android app there is no record option. This happens when I am at home or away from home. Has anyone else seen this issue?

Andriod app won't schedule show: The app has encountered a problem

When I Browse/Upcoming and select a show to record, then try to record it, I always get an error:

Problem Occurrred - The app has encountered a problem. The program can't be recorded. Press "OK" to continue.

I have a series 3 tivo. Using Tivo app on android galaxy 5s version 4.4.4 (latest). Using the Tivo app, signed in to my tivo account, my dvr is correctly selected. I am at home with wireless network which is operating correctly.

How can I fix this?

The app is great for selecting stuff to watch, but it just won't let me schedule a recording.

Why Doesnt Tivo see TCM HD in searches and wishlist?

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is always a problem for me -- in all types of searches, from the box, from the Tivo website, from wishlists, TMC HD (high definition) results don't populate in the results. I can do a search and it will default to the regular, non-HD version of a TCM movie. I have to go to "View other showings" to see the same movie, at the same time, on the HD channel for TCM.

Happens on the My Tivo search from the website -- maybe you can try it. Search a common classic movie star and notice that only the non-HD TCM showings come back in the results.

And it happens in Wishlists. If I have a wishlist set to search for actor John Wayne or director Alfred Hitchcock, and I set it to HD only, it will find all the showings on any channel BUT TCM. And if I set the wishlist to find all showings, inlcuding non-HD, it will find the TCM showings. But the search results never find a TCM HD Result.

Does anyone have an idea why this is so? It's very frustrating particularly for Wishlists.

TiVo HD to Premiere upgrade process

I'm looking to upgrade from a TiVo HD to a Premiere. Will I need to contact the cable company when I do this or can I just take the cable card out of the HD and put it in the Premiere?

Also, what is the process for activation? I currently have the HD and a Premiere both month-to-month with multi-service discount. If the new premiere is also month-to-month, what do I need to have TiVo do to transfer the service? Can I do it online or do I need to call?

Finally, if the Premiere I get has lifetime instead of month-to-month, would anything be different about the activation process?

Thanks...Scott

Does TiVo automatically adjust recording time when a show runs overtime?

Castle ABC, 11-24-2014. Started ~ 15 minutes LATE. Dancing wi Stars ran over. I just tried to watch it now & didn’t get the last 15 minutes. TiVo merely recorded exactly as the program was originally scheduled like a VCR would do.

Anyone watch tivo on android?

Iv'e been using video redo software to convert my tivo files into mpeg that can be viewed on my android tablet. Ive been using android app MX player up to now to play these mpegs but the most recent update to mx player seems to have disabled AC3 audio which is the default audio standard for my tivo converted mpegs. Anyone know the best sollution for me to once again enjoy my tivo shows on my android tablet? My tivo is a roamio basic BTW and I'm not interested in doing stream. THX!

Roamio Pro on FIOS can't conenct via MOCA

Hi all I think I am the only that expected plug and play with my Roamio on FIOS via MoCA and didn't get it. I am getting the C33 error when I try to connect via MoCA.

My set-up:

Fiber->ONT->(via coax) Actiontec MI424-WR (ver D) router

ONT->coax splitter->(via coax) Roamio Pro

Spoke to a tech at Tivo. They have no idea why my Roamio cannot connect to MoCA. To check if the problem was a bad MoCA device in the Roamio we tried to connect a Mini on the same coax line and unfortunately I got the same connection error (C33).

What is strange is that the same coax that I was using to test the Roamio's MoCA and mini's MoCA works fine in a Motorola Cable modem that I am using to go from coax to ethernet for my Tivo S3. Never a connection issue and the Motorola set-up was plug and play.

I did connect my Roamio Pro via ethernet and downloaded all the updates and completed the initial set-up. I disconnected the ethernet and tried MoCA again but still the same C33 connection error persists.

The TIVO tech recommends disabling MoCA on my Actiontec router and allowing Roamio to create a MoCA network from the ethernet connection.

Questions:

1) any further ideas on troubleshooting the reason my Roamio can't connect via MoCA on a standard Verizon FIOS install?

2) If I do disable the MoCA on the Actiontec can you explain how to do it? I am not sure how to do it.

I want to have the MoCA network, because I want to connect a mini and do not have an ethernet available in that location.

Attached is a screen shots from my Actiontec in case you see anything glaringly incorrect or odd. Happy to send more if you are looking for something specific.

Thanks in advance for you help and Happy Thanksgiving!

TiVo not finding NHL games in search, wishlist does

So at least for about the last month+ I've noticed on my Roamio+ that if I go to Find TV, Movies, & Videos > Search and type in NHL and select NHL Hockey the entry has Description not available and Not currently available to record and so there is no upcoming game options. But if I then go back to the search screen and select Create a WishList Search for "NHL", making no changes/additions (just keyword NHL) and clicking down and then selecting Go to upcoming matches the Tivo will show all of the upcoming games on different channels. They all begin with "NHL Hockey".

I have used the Clear Program Information and To Do List but that didn't fix it.

Seriously, any ideas?

Roamio HDMI Connection Issues

I have a Tivo Roamio through my local cable company (RCN). My setup is that I connect the Tivo Roamio to my receiver (Pioneer VSX 1018) and then run one cable from the receiver to the tv. I have set it up this way for years. Recently, I purchased a new TV and the Tivo Roamio will not longer work through my receiver (this happened with two new tivos so its not specific to the model i kept). Specifically, the picture will initially appear distorted, then the tivo reboots and never boots up. I get the welcome screen and it goes black. If I connect the Tivo directly to the tv it works. I've tried different ports on the receiver, different cables, etc. Again, it works fine in this configuration with my old tv, but refuses to work with two newer tvs i tried. I also tried turning off HDMI CEC.

Any suggestions short of buying a new receiver? Thanks.

Person of Interest - S4E09 - "The Devil You Know" - 11/25/2014

Well, that didn’t disappoint.

It looks like our crew has is in it even deeper now. They’re agreed that dealing with Elias is better than Dominic, hence the episode title.

But first Shaw has to escape from Martine, which she did in typical Shaw fashion and a little help from Root on her motorcycle.

Meanwhile goes to protect Elias and realizes that Dominic is still doing his research.

This helps show that Dominic is a thinker and just doesn’t rush into things but prefers to plan ahead.

And by planning ahead, we mean that he’s turning Elias’ people against him.

Forcing Reese to go on an action packed run with Elias and Scarface, who’s name we find out is Anthony.

Another thing that Person of Interest does well is build up the secondary characters. We’ve seen Elias over the years and he’s become an interesting character.

Sure, he’s a mob boss but we’ve also he’s a thinker and planner with his own code of honor.

He respects Reese and Finch and on some level, likes them, as he did with Detective Carter.

He’s also very aware of who Dominic is.

But we really didn’t know much about his relationship with Anthony other than that of boss/flunky until now and we see that not only is Anthony capable of loyalty and is extremely loyal to Elias, Elias is loyal to him.

(Contrast that with Dominic and Link and I’m not sure the same loyalty is there between those two. In fact, Link’s conversation with Anthony may hint that he may try to take down Dominic in the future.)

So there’s another war coming and Elias is out for blood. Which brings us to the Shaw problem.

With Martine and her hit squad now after Shaw, her effectiveness is limited during a time that Team Machine needs her the most.

Good for Lionel recognizing that Martine wasn’t a DEA agent and nice callback to Fusco’s desk camera.

(I hope that Harold got a photo of Martine from that.)

And yes, the throw down at the cosmetics counter was all that I hoped for.

not getting a channel

I got my Tivo box all set up and its great. There is 1 channel that is not coming in real good. Its a channel that have 80 percent of what I watch on it. I can get it just fine if I hook the antenna up to the TV.

Am I screwed? how do I get that channel?

Replace Cable Box with Mini =$50 more/month? (Bright House)

I just installed a TiVo Mini in the bedroom to replace our one cable co. box. I returned it to Bright House today. I get home and realize they changed my cable package to $150 instead of $100. I called to ask why and they said you must have a cable box to receive Premier channels (not premium, random channels like BBC America/Cooking Channel/etc.). I told them that's incorrect since my Roamio has been receiving the exact same channels as my cable box, but now I'm not receiving them.

I asked if they could just apply the Premier + Lightning 30 package to my account, but they seemed dead set that I must have a cable box from them to have it.

My logic was: my cable is $100 + $8 for a cable box therefore return the box, pay $100/month. According to Bright House this is impossible...

No one at Bright House knows what to do. Now I'm missing half my cable channels until Saturday when they're scheduled to bring me another cable box that I'm not even going to plug in. I'm upset because I got the Mini to save the $8/month cable box charge.

Anyone have any advice?

Weaknees black friday sales?

Does Weaknees usually have a black friday/cyber monday sale?

We've already seen TiVo's big sale is to give the same prices they've had for months, or deals of refurb Roamios.

general curiousity

Ok is really just curiosity and maybe I missed some features of Tivo..

Why would someone with cable use Tivo?

Don't most cable set ups up and packages come with a DVR box? I know with Uverse, all but the basic comes with a DVR...

Just curious why someone with cable runs Tivo..

Internet connection

Well I got my new box, working on setting it up...

Noone told me I needed internet connection...boo! I have internet connection though Uverse

Which is better ethernet or the wireless adapter?

Getting back in the game. Miss my Tivo

So...Fios talked me into their new Quad whatever, best thing since sliced bread. We had been using Tivo exclusively since 2001. I figured the cable companies MUST have caught up by now with their DVR functionality. Boy was I wrong. We all hate it. We end up not recording or watching much(not that is necessarily a bad thing!). We want our Tivo back!

So, I am ready to get back in the game and would like some advice on Roamio. Currently have two lifetime services. One is being used by my Mom, and one is gathering dust. Does this qualify me for multi room discounts on the annual or lifetime service if I buy a Roamio? I am assuming I should buy either the Plus or the Pro. The only difference I see is more recording time on the Pro, which for almost $200, I don't think I need 3,000 hrs.

Now, about the MoCA Network Adapter. This part is Greek to me, not sure what I need. I am connecting directly to the cable for the TV input, and have a network extender that I can get a wired connection from (since the network extender itself is wireless, will this be an issue?).

Lastly, do I buy the Mini? And if it's worth it, how portable is it to swap from room to room if I want to watch in another room?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Silly question.

I just purchased a TiVo mini yesterday and it's still being shipped to me. I had to call customer support and tech-support because I had a question regarding the lifetime service eligibility, so while I have them on the phone I asked about its compatibility with the two tuner Premiere. I currently have two two tuner Premieres and one four tuner Premiere and the stand alone Stream. I understand that if I want to watch live television I would have to connect to the four tuner Premiere but my question is can I watch recorded programming located on the two tuner Premiere on the mini via Multi-Room streaming. I figure it's best to ask you guys. I get the feeling this questions or has already been answered somewhere but maybe not?

Does additional Mini need to be on Moca if existing Tivo and Mini are on Moca?

I have a Moca setup for my Roamio Pro and existing Mini. The router is not near the Pro so I have set up an external Moca with adapters at the the Mini and Pro using switches (other devices are attached to the switches like DVD and game consoles.

I want to get another Mini for another TV. Can it be connected via ethernet, or do I have to get another Moca adpater to run to the new Mini?

Is my Moca system efficient? I had Moca before I got the Pro and Mini (previously running S3 and TivoHD at those locations)

Thanks!

Lilyhammer - Season 3 - Spoilers OK

Season 3 was released on Netflix a few days but I missed seeing anything about it until yesterday. Needless to say, blew through all 8 episodes in quick fashion.

I thought it was a great season. I can't really tell, but it sure felt like there won't be a 4th season. It just seemed kind of final. Still sorry to see my favorite character, Jan, get whacked. But at least he made it to the last episode.

And wow, Springsteen can't act worth a lick. It was cool to see him make an appearance, but the dude can't act.

Tivo Roamio Plus + Humax Series 2 (MOCA?)

Is there any way to have a Humax Series 2 play nice with a Tivo Roamio? I have a MOCA network established but was wondering if anyone has found a way for the Series 2 to work over MOCA. The fees I owe Verizon for a separate SD box to keep the series 2 running are absurd.

Back-To-Back Recording

I'm thinking of adding a Roamio for OTA recording to supplement my DIRECTV system DVRs. One of the things that DIRECTV got right is that its DVR will only take up one tuner to record two padded shows back-to-back on the same channel.

Does the Roamio use one tuner or two to do this? My Tivo HD uses two. Since the base Roamio only has four OTA, this is probably a dealbreaker for what I want to do (which is basically move my OTA recording off the DIRECTV box and perhaps eventually cut the cable).

Thanks.

Why No Encoded Program Info?

Tivo's program guide data is often out of date. I know it comes from Tribune Media but the on-screen program guide is often a day or two behind changes and updates on Tribune's Zap2It site.

Beyond that, networks frequently - regularly - deviate from their published schedules. Some cable networks are almost constantly off schedule with the endings of recorded programs cut off (unless you make manual adjustments). On regular networks, ballgames keep running over (they don't allow enough time in the published schedule) and later shows get pushed back. Monday night, CBS hit the pause button a show to do a news bulletin and then everything later got pushed back.

I have read that in Europe, DVRs use encoded program information to know what shows actually start and end, and they record based on the encoding - not the published schedule. WHY THE BLEEP DOESN'T TIVO DO THIS???

We pay a premium for the box and for the program guide subscription over the cost of a cable/satellite company DVR. Tivo adds some bells and whistles for time to time but they have not added something necessary to the essential function.

Further, I can go to a network website and find a copy of last night's shows (and earlier) to stream on-demand and watch on a desktop or mobile device. Tivo should provide an easy way to find and download shows I missed recording all or part of for any reason - just as Tivo recorded a way to record off-the-air broadcasts a lot easier than programming a VCR. Let's face it, off the air (or cable) recording is going to go away; on-demand is the future. If Tivo doesn't embrace it and incorporate it, Tivo and all DVRs will be as obsolete as tape and vinyl.

HMO text encoding for metadata

Does anyone know what charset/encoding the xml response for HMO requests need to be in? I'm running into a encoding display issue with my tivohmo ruby project ( http://ift.tt/11eBn7J ).

The problem I'm seeing is that metadata (specifically description) that I fetch from plex, has some unicode values (specifically U+2019 - which is a apostrophe), and these show up as empty boxes when browsing the item in the tivo HMO browse UI. However, once I transfer it to the tivo, it does show up correctly as an apostrophe in the details for the show in the "My Shows" UI.

I'm doing everything in utf-8, and both the QueryContainer and TVBusQuery responses are in utf-8. I've tried setting Content-Type response header to 'text/xml', 'application/xml', 'text/xml; charset=utf-8', 'application/xml; charset=utf-8', but makes no difference.

The only place I don't use utf-8 is when transferring the file to the tivo - I generate the TVBusQuery xml as utf-8, but dump the raw bytes into the header since it is a binary stream - which may be why it works in the tivo UI, but not the hmo ui ...? http://ift.tt/1vjk3J9

If I manually create a pyTivo metadata file containing that string, the same things happen.

Any ideas?

How do I make my tivo talk to my new router

I have a a Sony SVR2000 (first generation Tivo, that is) with lifetime service. It also has a cache card. I switched to a new router, and now my Tivo can't call in. Everything's plugged in properly, as far as I can tell, but the Tivo just can't find the "phone" connection.

Any ideas what I need to change to fix it?....

Experiencing strange issues with Roamio

Ever since the 2014 summer update, I've been experiencing some strange issues with my Roamio Plus box which I upgraded to 3TB before ever plugging in. The unit is less than one year old.

The update caused the box to become sluggish and it no longer zips through menus at lightening speed. I either see that spinning wheel icon "Please wait" or occasionally the screen goes completely black and I have to hit the left arrow key to go back to the previous menu.

Moreover, the guide info is incorrect. Even though the "To Do" list shows future recordings airing on the right channels, if I go to Explore this show >> Upcoming there will be a whole host of upcoming episodes that are assigned on the wrong channels. These channels don't even exist for my lineup on FiOS.

Additionally, if I select an upcoming recording and choose "View upcoming recording" a small distorted menu pops up with no listings.

Has any one else experienced this issue and if so, is there any known solution?

I've spoken to four different Level 2 Tivo support reps, cleared the Program info/Guide data and repeated guided setup twice, upgraded the software to 20.4.5c from 20.4.4, ran Kickstart 54 without error, restarted countless times and the issues still persist.

After several weeks of failed trouble shooting over the phone, I was offered a box swap. However even though my registered unit says "Plus" on the outside it is essentially a Pro with the upgraded 3TB drive.

How should I proceed? Tell Tivo I've upgraded my drive (which they might be able to verify)? Or just accept the new box and replace it with my existing 3TB drive before sending the old one back?

To me, it seems the issue is software and not hardware related.

Just a heads up if you are a fan of the story of Chris McCandless - "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer (book and movie). There is a PBS special on tonight at 9 pm (at least in my area) called Back to the Wild - revisiting his story.

Sorry - it's actually called Return to the Wild - not Back to the Wild.

Deal on Refurb Roamios

Tivo now has a deal on factory renewed Roamios. $0 for Roamio, $99 for plus, $199 for Pro. However, it requires a 2 year service agreement, no lifetime option. I called to see about lifetime and basically the price factors in the rental cost, so no lifetime.

He suggested calling black Friday to see if any new deals are added.

Add another Roamio?

I have had a Roamio Basic and 2 Mini's now for about 6 months. I bought the Basic model because at time I had an antenna and wanting the OTA DVR. Well, my family liked the Tivo so much I added a cable card with my local provider, New Wave Communications, and have been very happy ever since...

Only problem, I need more tuners. The 4 in the Basic just are not enough. I thought about replacing the Basic with a Pro. If I do that, will the cable company have to "marry" cable card to the new Roamio Pro? Or can I simply swap it from the Basic to the Pro and be on my way?

What about adding a Pro to my setup? Would that give me 10 tuners? How would this work with my Mini's. Would they "see" both Roamios under "My Shows? Which Roamio would they record to?

Sorry for all the questions...just trying to figure out the best way to get more tuners.:)

Lineup change for STARZHD

I recently received a lineup change from TiVo with STARZHDP replacing STARZHD on the same channel number. (Comcast-Denver, Mountain time zone.) Program listings for STARZ are now 3 hours off making it impossible to schedule recordings or season passes let alone see what's actually playing at the moment. Since I'm in the Mountain time zone I don't understand why I am now receiving STARZ Pacific. Anyone else in the Denver area having the same issue? I have reported this to TiVo through their programming issues department but haven't heard anything.

New Roamio Plus w/ Lifetime - Chicagoland

I just bought a used premier with lifetime service on eBay. Will be delivered Wednesday.

I'm trying to discover all the other features of the device besides just recording. I'll be using it for antenna tv. I have an Apple TV as well. Will tv replace my Apple TV? So I got the latest firmware update on my Tivo Roamio and my 2 Tivo minis and was able to log into my Amazon Prime account on my Roamio no problem and watch video but when I try to log into my Prime account on my minis I get invalid user name or password no matter what. And yes the user name and password is correct as I tried it several times but no go. And yes I can log into my account online no problem with it. Am I alone in this problem? I looked through the forums and saw nothing else about this.

Remote control layout ideas.

1) Make a remote without the number buttons. Personally just never watch much live tv and I don't think I've used the numbers in the 4 months since I returned to Tivo.

2) Add old school T9 (cellphone-style) keyboard to number buttons.

Seems like it would cost nothing to add this and would help speed up text entry on the regular remote.

I was told that port 1413 is supposed to be used on roamio and mini to get ip control to work correctly. However, my boxes don't respond to commands when using port 1413. When using port 31339 commands are blocked by the TiVo mini when the delete recording screen pops up at the end of a recorded show. Once the screen times out, control resumes

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MoCA with Tuning Adapter - New Splitter Needed?

Hi, all. I tried searching the forums but just need a quick answer for my situation.

I have a Roamio (basic) with a Tuning Adapter connected via ethernet to the cable modem right next to it. I will be setting up a TiVo Mini tonight in my bedroom that only has a cable outlet. I read on the forums MoCA does not play nice with tuning adapters.

Right now my cable set up is this:

Outlet->2-way splitter->Modem

___________________->Tuning Adapter->Roamio

Will I need to purchase a 3-way splitter and a second POE filter?

Outlet->3-way splitter->MoCA->Modem

___________________->TiVo

___________________->POE->Tuning Adapter

Thanks!

MTR700 Firmware version?

Can anyone tell me what the firmware version of an MTR700 I am planning to buy:

Phase 2.7

Platform ID 176

I'm at my wit's end. Charter will not help--after 10 calls or so says that Tivo needs to update THEIR firmware. Tivo says it's in the TA firmware, which most, if not all, the info in forums suggest is true. I'm looking at buying an MTR700 off ebay but don't know the firmware version, just the above mentioned data.

Charter also says that they have NO different firmware versions, as confirmed by the local Charter store, which as a bunch of the same ones, all refurbs.

Thanks

jeff

Weird (no) sound issue with 20.4.5

Hi all,

got a weird one. The Roamio+ and all 4 of our minis got 20.4.5 last week. All looks good except...

We have 2 Samsung 19" tvs in the house. Now both of them have to be power-cycled multiple times to get sound out of its respective Mini. The other televisions in the house (that aren't these Sylvania jobbies) have no such issue- turn them on, and the audio is there as expected.

If I switch over the Roku stick on the other HDMI port, there's sound as usual. But nothing from the Mini.

I guess this is some sort of weird interaction between the Sylvania TVs and the updated Mini? Probably a task for TiVo support?

Do I need a slingbox?

This is the second time I'm on vacation since I got the Tivo Plus last December. The first 2-3 days the tivo stream worked fine. And now it can't connect again. I've gone months at home without using away from home stream & would remember to test the stream & it was fine. But after constant streaming away from home network for 2-3 days in a row something happens. I was hoping to catch up on 1-2 shows a day. I'm thinking my only option to guarantee I can watch my recorded shows while I'm away is to get a slingbox. Or some remote app that let's me reset a surge protector with the router & Romeo plugged into it. Anyone know of a reasonable solution cheaper than a slingbox 350 or 500?

I am still able to get to the Romeo to delete shows so I don't believe it's the home network.

Deauthorizing an Android Youtube app from casting?

Somehow, my neighbor who has an Android phone and shares the same wifi network as I do, can load up his Youtube app and choose my Tivo to cast to. He apparently didn't need to do any kind of authorization, like I had to do with my iOS phone's Youtube app.

Whats the deal with that? Does it really need authorization, and maybe he came over and my roommate let him in to authorize it while I was away at work? Does the Android app not need authorization/pairing? How can I shut it down?

Tivo resets itself

I have a Tivo Series3 (v 11.0m-01-2-658) with a dual tuner cable card and also connected via coax cable through a Cisco tuning adapter to the cable modem. Sometimes, when I watch a recorded show, (the McLaughlin Show to be precise; no other show causes this so far), the Tivo unit resets itself. Something in the recording is causing this because if I try to play the show again, it resets at the same point in the playback. It has happened often enough that now I try to skip the first seconds of the show. But today, it occurred in the middle of the show rather than at the beginning, like in the past.

I thought perhaps it could be because of bad sectors on the hard drive, but why does it only happen for that show, recorded at different occassions over the past months.

RF + MOCA over same cable?

Does anyone know if its possible to combine the output from an RF modulator (Channel 3/4) with a MOCA network connection (particularly verizon fios). I am attempting to save my in-laws some money by having a single Roamio box feed three rooms (one through HDMI, two through a coax connection off a RF modulator from the AV output in the Roamio). Wondering if feeding the RF signal back to the same line as the MOCA (using a diplexer) would cause issues with the MOCA network?

Cheapest way to get a Roamio Basic w/ Lifetime?

I currently have a TiVo series 2 w/ lifetime (I bought it on eBay and had the lifetime transferred to me.) I want to buy a Roamio Basic w/ lifetime but can't figure out the cheapest method. On Tivo's website it looks like it would be $599.99 (includes $100 multi-service discount.) The TiVo itself is $50 cheaper on bestbuy.com, so maybe I could buy it there then activate lifetime on Tivo's site for the discounted $399.99 for a total of $550, but can it get any cheaper than that? Thanks for your help

Tivo Slingbox App

I would like to see Tivo add an app to access a Slingbox.

My wife has a Slingbox connected to her Mom's STB in Tokyo. She uses my DT PC to watch her recorded Japanese shows. It would be slick for her to be able to access the Tokyo Slingbox using either the Pro in our LR or the Mini in our MBR.

Having said that, I doubt Dish will ever allow it.

Anyway, it's a suggestion.

TiVo Stream is stuck in a DHCP loop

I am experiencing a very weird problem with my TiVo Stream, which started when I lost the ability to communicate with it after changing out some network equipment and power cycling it.

Since that time, the TiVo Stream is not successfully receiving an IP address assignment from my DHCP server. In addition to that, the DHCP client on the Stream is stuck requesting the same IP address every time, so when my DHCP server was trying to offer it a different one, it ignored the offer and requested the same address, resulting in a NACK.

Here is what my tcpdump command reported when I plugged in the Stream:

New peanut versus S3 to Roamio upgrade

We currently have an new Roamio and an old Series 3. The peanut remote on the Roamio can be programmed to work with any of the TVs at home. The peanut on the Series 3 no longer works with any of the TVs at home. The TV that one is connected to we have to use the peanut for the Tivo and the manufacturer's remote for the TV.

Not considered at the moment - Replace the Series 3 with a Mini. We use antenna. One antenna is pointed at the PBS station and others near it. One antenna is pointed at the area most of the networks broadcast from. Yeah, I read that these antennae are omnidirectional. They aren't. One direction for each Tivo gives us excellent coverage for all of the channels we are interested in plus the Roamio does good stream. We have a 3rd TV that currently has a Roku and an Amazon Fire - May as well have plenty of gadgets in play.

Right now I could upgrade the Series 3 to a Roamio - For $150 I get a new peanut, better stream user interface, more storage, that nice feature that it keeps playing the current show while in the menus, more storage and a partridge in a pear tree. No change to subscription monthly payment.

Still it's more money than just ordering a new peanut remote. Is it worth the difference given that we already have one Roamio? We were at Frys looking at the Roamio versus Mini and got in a discussion with a fellow Tivo fan. He thinks the reason Roamio is on sale is a new series will come out within a year.

If the next generation has much better integration of Roku looking features it would be worth getting that new series. We used to have a S2 and S3 at the same time after all. Integrate series in the Roku looking menus so I can flag a series to Season Pass or Now Playing then not have to explore the per-stream-vendor menus, huge win for Tivo.

If the next generation has much better integration with the web site streams of local TV stations it would be worth getting that new series. Find the TV station on the web. Link the stream as a channel in the Guide. Watch live TV news without an antenna, huge win for Tivo.

As it is the Roamio's mixing Tivo functions with Roku looking per-stream-vendor menus was a huge win for Tivo. It's why we bought a Roamio when we cut the cable.

Treat stream series like Season Pass

I first asked a similar feature back in the Series 3 days and I know nothing will ever come of that version - At the time it was common to have a network connection that could not quite maintain a stream. So click on a video from a streaming vendor and buffer it into Now Playing. Let me watch it and delete my copy later. Have the copy automatically delete if that's what it takes.

I know why it's not going to happen. Legal issues of copying content that was not broadcast.

So what I want now is not listing Hulu and whatever in menus. It's *actual* integration with all of those stream vendors. Say I want a Season Pass to West Wing (MASH, Babylon 5, Mister Ed, whatever). I go through all the menus to find it and I mark that I want a Season Pass for it. When I go to Now Playing it lists now West Wing. It remembers which season, which episode and how far into that episode I am so I don't have to navigate a dozen menus just to get to a show I want.

That would be an enormous market differentiator - Only have to find a show once in its custom menus per stream vendor. As good as the Season Pass feature for series once it knew how to follow schedule changes. By the way now that we have a Roamio I love that it now knows how to follow a series across channels! Do that across stream vendors and it would rule!

Channel # error from search results

On 4.5 and 4.5c when I search for CO and select College Football and select upcoming I get a list of showings that include channels that I do not even receive. Some have station letters that I do receive and when I select, the showing comes up with the correct channel (most of the time) and I can select record. Sometime I select record and it never makes it to the TO Do List so I have to go back an do it from the guide. Anyone else see this?

Quick Clear Code Not Working Since .5c FW Update

I have a Premiere Elite and a Mini.

Since I updated to .5c on both of my devices I have not been able to get the Mini to accept the "quick clear" backdoor code (S-P-S-Pause-S) to clear the status bar. The code stills works on my Premiere, and all the other codes I use are still working on the Mini.

I've tried to enter the code multiple times over several days in various contexts (usually while playing a recording). I've tried a hot and a cold reboot to no avail. I can toggle the on-screen clock and the "4X FF" codes on and off and back on, but for some reason nothing I have tried will get the quick clear mode to function although it was working before the FW update.

Can anyone else using .5c verify whether their Mini has this issue?

Strange video drop problem

I have my tivo Roamio pro setup so that it feeds out of the components to one TV and through the HDMI to the other TV, in another room. The problem is on the HDMI feed TV- sometimes when I change channels, the video just disappears (audio still works). This is fixed 100% of the time by just pulling the HDMI cord out of the TV and putting it back in. I can't imagine what is causing this very odd problem- any help?

Set up MoCA bridge?

I have researched and researched so I thought maybe some of you could tell me the best set up. I have two Tivo Premieres series 4 (two tuners) and one Tivo Series 2. I just bought a Tivo Roamio Plus and have been trying to install it over the weekend. Previously all my Tivos were set up on our home wireless network. This network is central in our home but not close to any tvs. So, I'm guessing I need to do the MoCA bridge, right? I've decided to retire my Series 2 and keep the Premieres for the time being. In order to make this work do I need a MoCA for the Network and then one for each of the Premieres? Are having the Premieres as good as having a mini? What about a wireless bridge that tricks the Tivo's into thinking they are hardwired?

Thanks for any insights you have.

Move mini between TVs?

Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking of going the tivo route with minis and have a very basic question as this is all new to me. Is it easy to move a mini from one TV to another? We have a 2 TVs that are only used sporadically- one in an upstairs bedroom and one in the basement. Do I need to buy 2 minis or can I just move one mini between them when we want to watch one of the TVs? Thanks for your help.

How to Get Away with Murder 11/20/2014 Kill Me, Kill Me, Kill Me

Looks like we've finally caught up in time, so maybe no more flashbacks? I hope so, I'm really getting tired of the same stuff over and over.

It was Wes who killed Sam? It was fun when they made it look like Michaela did it by pushing him over the stair railing, but we knew that couldn't be it because of the trophy. But Wes hitting Sam to stop him from choking Rebecca was what did it.

Annalise being vunerable with Nate was very believable. Much more so than when she was trying to be so with Sam (all IMO, and of course YMMV.:D)

And now the show is on break until Jan 29, ugh!!!

Icon graphics not showing properly unless restarted

Noticing certain graphics on my roamio don't show properly unless I restart the tivo. Is this a normal occurrence? Attached two pictures, one of the thumbs up icon and the other from the To Do List with this issue.

New to Tivo

Hello,

Im looking to get a used Tivo box on ebay, but need some guidance...

Im looking for a DVR for Antenna TV. I have one of those flat indoor antennas from walmart that hooks into my TV and I get like 10 channels. Im good with that, but I just want to be able to record TV when Im not home or if Im watching something else, I can record on another channel.

I don't want a monthly payment and 699 is a lot for a basic box and a lifetime services, so I went to ebay.

Are there used boxes that will NOT work for what I want? Looks like people are selling Series 2, Series 3, Series 4, Premium.

Does anyone have any guidance?

Thank you

Question on FIOS with Ethernet from ONT and MOCA

I have FIOS and my internet is on ethernet which runs to my can in my master bedroom which contains my coax feed and router that splits to all the rooms in my townhouse. I have ethernet in my bedrooms and kitchen but no line in my family room where my Roamio is located. I purchased the Actiontec MOCA adapter (2) and am trying to figure out how to set it up.

If I connect the Actiontec to the Coax and ethernet ethernet in the can in the master bedroom will enabling MOCA on the Roamio give it an internet connection and allow my mini to work as well? The mini is connected to the ethernet feed in my master bedroom.

Problems streaming Netflix on Roamio

Hi. We upgraded to a Roamio in September and have noticed that when we watch Netflix using the Roamio, the resolution of the programming switches from good to very bad right in front of our eyes. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix for it?

Thanks,

Maria

Legality of 3rd Party Tivo transferring (pyTivo, kmtttg, VideoReDo)

So I currently have Tivo Desktop Plus, but am not overly happy with the conversion options and am interested in the third party software frequently discussed in this forum like pyTivo, kmtttg, VideoReDo. My concern is that I don't want to be doing anything illegal or violating Tivo terms and conditions. I tried searching for VideoReDo and saw something that they exploit a portion of Tivo Desktop which made me a little uneasy, but then a saw a message that they were in negotiations with Tivo over something so it sounded more on the up and up.

Is anyone able to directly answer the question on whether using that software to do things like pull shows off my tivo, change the format, edit them, etc. is legal and in accordinace with Tivo terms and conditions?

Is there a RF to IR converter for Slide pro?

I have a Tivo slide pro and an IR-controlled Yamaha AVR (RX-V765) that uses IR and is behind a wall. I'd like to use the TIVO remote RF ability to control the Yamaha. Is there a Slide Pro RF to IR converter system that will allow me to send a power and volume signal from the slide pro to the Yamaha behind the wall?

I am open to other ways to power on/off the Yamaha and use it for volume.

Thanks

The Amazing Race: OAD 11-21-2014: "Hot Sexy Knights"

So the surfers use their Express Pass to claim a 1st. My wife and I are in disagreement about if this was their last chance to use the pass. Anyone remember from the original instructions that went with it? This was leg 8 and there are 4 to go.

Anyway, the dentists would have finished 1st again otherwise. They are on a roll. Sorry about Tim & Te, but they were pretty clearly the weakest team. If the TAR gods are good to us, the food girls will go home next week and we'll have as strong a final 4 as any season has had.

And that one challenge, running out the greased pole to grab the flag? Ouch!

Tuner allocation

How do I control what channels my Pro are buffering?

Thought it would buffer the last six channels entered. Obviously I'm ignorant on this.

Don't want to record any channel, just ping pong around watching different football games.

Thanks

ios8 app: can't get closed captioning to turn off

I have tried hitting the "CC" button, reseting my ipad, and even deleting the tivo app and redownloading. But Closed Captioning remains on. Anyone know what to do?

When did Amazon Prime appear???!!!!!!

Had no idea Amazon Prime was up and running on the TiVo platform. Wow, been waiting for this for awhile. The interface looks great. Streams in 24fps and 5.1 audio, provided the content is in 5.1. Just wish the info button displayed the playback codecs like it does on the Netflix app. No more switching to other devices for Amazon Prime, love it.

Roamio Plus not seeing MTR700 on Charter

Hello.

I've had a Roamio plus for about a month. While I finally got the cable card working (Charter Cable) I have yet gotten the Tuning adapter to talk to the Roamio. 3 charter calls, a tech visit with the same old TA(a refurb I'm told) and still nothing. I'm missing quite a few channels. Even 1 of the charter techs said I needed a later firmware version. How can I get this adapter!? Charter just doesn't get it. Our current charter "store" only has the refurbs, all identical.

Also, Where is the firmware version located on the physical box?

Thanks

jeff

New Girl Season 4 (2014-2015) *Spoilers*

Is anyone still watching New Girl? I never see threads here, but IMO this is still one of the most consistently hilarious shows on TV. They did a good job with the Nick/Jess relationship and the aftermath, which is so often the death knell of TV shows.

I know not everyone is a fan of Zooey but post-season 1 she got rid of a lot of the annoying quirks and now Jess is just amusingly odd. And the surrounding cast, Nick and Schmidt especially, are great.

This is one I always watch the same night; usually "almost live".
