Problems w/corrupted downloads in kmttg/Tivo Desktop

I am having problems downloading shows to my computer from my Tivo Bolt. Sometimes they'll have green frames throughout the program when I download it from kmttg but not Tivo Desktop, and vice versa.

For instance, tonight's episodes of "Gotham" and "Supergirl" were unwatchable once I downloaded them, but they play perfectly when watched from the Bolt.

I am using the latest version of kmttg, and whatever the last version of the free Tivo Desktop was.

I have also checked with Comcast to see if a problem I suspected was causing the corruption was fixed, but I have yet to hear from them. That same problem was also affecting my Internet speeds, so I can only assume that since they're back up to what I had originally, the problem was resolved.

Supergirl "Welcome To Earth" S2E3 (10/24/16) *SPOILERS*!

Whenever I hear that phrase now, it reminds me of The Fresh Prince in ID4. :p

I didn't get that deep into the comics. So who is this Mon-El when he's at home? I assume he'll be a good guy, partner up with Kara-El now and again? Do the Humpty Dance?

I hope they bring Det. Sawyer back again. She's quite warm. (Yes, I realize she's a lesbian).

So, now that J'J' knows he's not alone, what's on the agenda for him?

Hey, Diana Prince is the President. And, apparently, an alien.

No Xfinity-On-Demand for over 10 days in Houston ERR-16

Is this error really a Comcast issue or TiVo?

It started out with the GSM-2 Error and sometimes V301. When the rest of the country got that fixed, Houston was left with the ERR-16 error.

I've got at least 6 clients in Houston with no XOD. And a pending Bolt+ install.

This page makes me wonder if it's a TiVo issue:

I'd sure like this to get fixed! (READ: I'm getting fairly annoyed!)

TivoHD downloads fail ... culprit: 11.0n, disk, power, else... ?

TivoHD, lifetime service, 2 TB HDD which is hmm... ? 2..3 years old now ?
Tivo has been working fairly well for its age, maybe hung and needed power cycle once a months..

Then end Aug beginning of September, it pulled in 11.0n and IMHO works noticeably worse than it ever did before:
- Remote becomes unresponsive for maybe up to two minutes. TV continues to play though.
- Ping of IP address fails for minutes at a time.
- Worst: HTTP downloads from tivo are not reliable anymore, but fail after randomn, rather short amounts, 100MByte... 800 MByte. At that time also ping does not work anymore.

i will definitely check the HDD by putting it on PC, run SMART, copy whole disk content and back checking every sector etc.. Thats what made the Tivo fail in the past (this is probably the 3rd HDD, TivoHD is > 8 years old). But previously when disks expired, i never had failure of ping, remote or the like, so its strangely different.

Is this errror behavior anyhow indicative of failing power supply ? What specifically would i look for ? (except for capacitor bulge..).

Any known issues like this with 11.0n ?

Is there btw any way to restart an HTTP download... guess not, maybe i am overlooking some HTTP option... ?

Thanks so much!

Around Aug/Sep, Tivo was pulling in 11.0n and has been acting noticeably wor

Waking from Standby causes Tivo Roamio OTA to reboot

I just completed an upgrade of my OEM TiVo Roamio OTA Hard Drive with a Western Digital WD80EZZX 8TB using the MFS Reformatter Version 1.0.0.4 - worked like a charm.

I have always put my TiVo into standby before going to bed as that kills the front lights while I sleep. What happens now when I turn the TiVo on is that the blue screen flashes "waking up" and then shortly after reboots as if it had been unplugged from power. Everything works fine after that, no issues to report at all.

I listened closely to the new hard drive before waking up the TiVo and it sounds like it is coming out of sleep mode as I can hear it start to spin up when I press the TiVo button on the remote. While it starts to spin up during the "waking up" screen displaying, it reboots.

Not sure if this is because the spin-up is taking too long and the TiVo times out or if this is another issue with using a hard drive of this size.

If anyone else has experienced this type of behavior, I would appreciate any feedback. I guess for now I can just leave it on.

BTW - I have my power saving mode set to Off.

Switch to Standard Time

As expected, there are two 1am on 11/6. However the guide ends 60 minutes earlier than last year when we switched. A lot of TBA also.

oops. The guide will be short one hour on Sunday. It should correct on Monday.

Keep watching.

TiVo mini software update?

Does anyone know if the TiVo mini will get the same software as the bolt? I'm assuming so.

pixelation problem - premiere on FIOS

Just my luck...the forum is getting ready to go down.

All channels reporting 68-72% signal and 27-28 SNR. Uncorrected SR rates range from <0.0001/sec to >30/sec...which is essentially unwatchable....anything above 0.1/sec uncorrected is annoying. Uncorrected errors are usually over 1000/sec. Peformance is worst on HBO (899) and almost flawless on the local FOX (513) channel.

I've been running FIOS and TIVOs for 8 years or so. No issues with the "new" premieres (2 years old?) until about a week ago. Both (bed room and living room) perform similarly. I seem to recall getting ~95% on the signal but never paid attention to it in the past.

Eliminating the splitters (temporary homerun to ONT for testing) improved the performance somewhat but not dramatically...signal strength and SNR virtually unchanged.

Anything else to check before rolling the Frontier techs?

Netfix ?

When watching a show what can I press to go back to the previous menu or the main page without leaving Netflix app?

Trying Netflix again and was watching a series, chose the wrong episode and tried to go back to choose the one I wanted. Nothing brought me back to the series episodes or the Netflix main menu. I had to go leave the app and restart it to get to the show I wanted. I can do this on Roku.

Recommended eSATA Enclosures?

Are there recommended eSATA enclosures for an 8TB drive? With eSATA being slower than current USB options, the newer devices don't seem to support it. I have seen references to older devices in a few threads but those devices do not report compatibility with an 8TB drive. There are also conflicting reports on whether that matters, as the eSATA connection should in theory just pass through to the SATA port on the drive, but these enclosures have USB connectors as well and so must have additional internal parts that may not support larger devices.

Here are devices I have looked at:

Rosewill RX304 Old model, not reported to support over 6TB
Rosewill RX358 Old Model, says max is 4TB

ORICO Tool-Free USB & eSATA to SATA... No fan, or cover, on this one, but reports 8TB support - I'd rather not go with an open bay, though

Is there an enclosure that would allow (possibly by modification) a direct sata cable connection with an eSATA to SATA cable, skipping the eSATA port on the enclosure? The description of Rosewill 304 seems like it may have some flexibility with wiring.

Any advice?

Thanks!

One show now lost from program guide

I record General Hospital every day on two TiVos. Today I noticed it didn't record so I checked the program guide info to see if it had been pre-empted. That time slot, 1:00 p.m., has been replaced with "To Be Announced" on both my Roamio and my Premiere XL4, and it's that way all week. To the best of my knowledge, no other shows/time slots are missing, at least that I'm noticing.

Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it? Do I need to call TiVo? I came here first because I hate talking to them.

Special Bolt+ Deal for TCF!

I've worked a deal with my TiVo authorized supplier to offer the new Bolt+ (and maybe other accessories) to us loyal TCF members at a great discounted price. See this thread:

PM me if you're interested. :)

On Pass lost Netflix episodes, now also Amazon Prime

Last month my Tivo lost the episodes of Longmire's new season and all old seasons of Murder She Wrote. This issue appears in other discussions here.

This weekend it also happened with at least one show in Amazon Prime. I've been going through Star Gate - Atlantis and it dropped from my No W Playing. I look at the Amazon Prime interface directly and there it is.

It almost looks like stream subscription providers are breaking their API to mess with Tivo? If that's what is happening I'll switch stream subscription providers before I'll drop my Tivo as we watch plenty of OTA recorded shows on our Roamio.

importing old Season Passes to new Bolt

I have a new Bolt arriving today that will replace an older TiVo HD (series 3).

I'm wondering if there will be any way for me to transfer my Season Passes from the TiVo HD to the Bolt. My guess is "no" since I cannot even see my season passes online anymore. Basically all my online functionality is gone now since I have older series 3 TiVos.

Does anyone know a way that I could do this (short of manually writing down or taking photos of my screen)?

TIVO Gear VR App

I travel a lot and use the Gear VR when on the road. Hulu and Netflix have Oculus apps. Amazon is rumored to be working on one as well. Is there any chance that Tivo will come out with an App to allow Gear VR users to see their programming while on the road?

JUST FOUND ANTHER THREAD ON THIS TOPIC. PLEASE DELETE.

TDS - This is bad

Ok, now I'm mad. My guide for The Daily Show doesn't have it scheduled for tonight. It's ok on tvguide.com (not tv.com), so it might be corrected with my 5:53pm scheduled update. Messing with TDS is not allowed.

The metadata indicates (CC, in Prog, SAP, Blackout, R).

Remote code for a/v input

I have my TiVo bolt connected to a Mitsubishi 73878 DLP television. I have found three of the codes in the group that turn the TV on and off. Those three will also bring up the input menu, but none of them will let me change the input. By pushing the imput button it simply brings all the inputs on screen and then off. On the original remote I have to push the input button and then the left or right arrow to select a different input, but these left and right arrow buttons do not work on the TiVo remote. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to select imports once the input menu is on screen?

General Hospital/ABC

For those recording General Hospital, ABC, I show TBA on ABC 1pm to 3pm all week.

Westworld "Dissonance Theory" S1E4 (10/23/16)

I don't know who it was last week that said they could not invest in the hosts, but right now the hosts are where I am most interested. I wonder if Deloris and Mave (sp?) remembering is intentional by either Ford or Lowe (although after last week I doubt it is Ford) or if the update we saw in Ep. 1 really has wreaked this much havoc for the park. I knew as soon as Mave pulled the board up what she would find but it was still creepy seeing the drawings over and over again. Imagine finding something like that hidden in your room, realizing that you must have drawn them. What a mind ****.

What do you connect to your media center UPS?

Just curious what everyone connects to their media center UPS besides the TiVo and what size UPS you have?

Frustrations with TiVo Support

This post is admittedly a rant. I realize that it's unlikely that anyone working for TiVo will read this, but I don't know what else to do.

I am very frustrated by TiVo's support. This wouldn't bother me too much, but recently I've had a number of reasons to contact them, mostly about the software on my TiVo unit, and I've had little satisfaction.

To start with, if I visit the "My Support" page, there are a number of items there, almost all titled "Support Portal Case: TiVo DVR, TiVo Roamio Pro". In the "Status" column many of them say "Closed". Four of them say "Waiting on Customer". If I click on one of those, I'm asked to "Add an update", but I"m given no information about the original problem report or what type of information is needed. It would be tremendously useful if I could find a summary of the original problem. Without this information, I have no idea of what's going on.

One of the subjects is "xfinity VOD gsm-2". That baffles me. I've never used xfinity equipment.

I've complained about this to a TiVo telephone support person. That person had no way to deal with my complaint and no apparent way to relay my complaint to anyone.

Is there any way I can contact anyone who can deal with this problem?

In other posts I'll describe a number of other problems I've had with the TiVO software.

Watching remotely

Why are only some recordings able to watch remotely? I am trying to watch The Walking Dead tonight on my phone while at work. It is not an option is says .remote play is not available, But I am able to watch a television show from the food channel that was recorded on Friday. Is it a network thing or do I have to wait more than 24 hours to watch?

Listen to Pandora while viewing Menus

TiVo has Picture in Picture, allowing you to listen and see a program while viewing menus of recorded shows, etc.

I know, technically, that Pandora loads up a completely different application but it sure would be a great integration if you could continue to listening to Pandora while looking through recorded show lists, etc.

The Walking Dead - "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" - (S7E1) - 10/23/16

Discuss.

That was about as dark of an episode as any TV show ever has been

Not surprised by who it was though.

TIVO Stream not working with android phone

Tivo of stream set up with my bolt and works fine on OS (mac) but sporadic or not at all on my android Samsung cell phone and kindle.

Both are running current operating systems. Samsung phone is using 6.0 android.

Is there something I can do to make it work on my phone?

Salem Season 3 Premiere

Keep an eye on your 1P for Salem for 11/2/16 9p-10:03p Eastern time. I saw it was set to record a day or two ago, now it is showing To be announced in the guide and is no longer set to record. I reported via a lineup issue and was told this evening that my guide doesn't go that far from the person responding to my lineup issue even though it goes to 11/5.

TiVo Settings Access Control

Hello all,

Though mentioned from time to time and asked about as well, I cannot seem to find anything on point with regard to securing a TiVo Mini so that all it can do is "watch" TV--and have ZERO access to settings nor to be able to change accounts, etc.

Here's my issue... I love our new TiVo Bolt+ and we have a number of Minis in our house. Two of which are in guest rooms. I'm not exactly fond of the fact that our houseguests have been able to delete recordings on our Bolt+ and/or try to enter their own credentials for streaming services. Oh, and I was REALLY annoyed when some of our guests added channels back into the lineup which I had specifically disabled in our channel lineup. It's not that we have friends and family who want to annoy us--they simply did not realize that their changes would affect our whole house!

I would not mind if guests could add recordings, I just don't want them able to delete any of them! When some recent guests came down for breakfast, they could not stop talking about how awesome the latest episode of one of our favorite shows was the previous night--an episode which we could not watch because they had deleted it after watching it! (Again, they did not understand the implications of doing so.)

So... Does anyone know of a way to make a TiVo mini into more of a "read-only" device?

Thanks!

PCM instead of Dolby When Switching to Bolt+

When I switch on my AVR from another source to my Bolt+, the sound format is PCM instead of Dolby Digital. Changing channels corrects this. A minor problem, but annoying. Appreciate any thoughts.

My Bolt+ is connected via HDMI to a Yamaha CX-A5100 pre-amp. Using Comcast cable. No other sources have this problem.

TiVo Roamio OTA Freezes on Waking Up Screen

Hello,

I bought a TiVo Roamio OTA just over a month ago and it was working great. About 2 weeks ago I bought a TiVo mini and got that hooked up as well. Everything is connected through Ethernet.

On Friday the TiVo froze on the Waking Up... blue screen. In the morning I noticed it when the mini was unable to borrow the tuner from the OTA, and it still did not work when I got home from work. I unplugged restarted the Roamio and everything started working again. Today it was doing the same thing, unplugged and it started working again.

I searched for this same problem and didn't find much. There was one older thread but no resolution in place. We've been putting the Roamio in standby mode each time we're done using it, and will try not doing that for now to see if it works.

The TiVo tech said that since the Roamio needs at least 15 mbps of speed to work properly, that was the reason why we're having trouble. We have about 6-8 mbps of speed, but have noticed no issues because of this with the Roamio or streaming so far. I can't find any information on that piece online, and they failed to email me the info they said they would, so I'm coming here for advice.

Any idea what was causing this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Live TV when Bolt is turned on

When I turn on my Bolt it starts playing live TV. Is there any way to start at the Tivo Central screen so there no video or audio playing when the Bolt is turned on?

Bolt+ doesn't support HD antennas?

I haven't logged in here since 2007. Hi! Still have an SD lifetime hacked TiVo in a closet somewhere, but I was on DirecTV and well, we know how that went.
I cut the cord 6 months ago, and got a Tablo with a 5TB. It "works", but the user interface is nowhere near TiVos. I saw a mention that TiVo had an OTA recorder now, went looking, found the specs for Bolt and Bolt+.
Searched the forums here and read through a few threads on this.
Bolt apparently is flaky on HD ? Bolt+ does NOT SUPPORT HD Antennas?
Baffled that this would be so. ??? I've hacked a number of TiVos in my time, not afraid to do it again - apparently you can replace the internal drive in the Bolt, but also can use a USB external?
Does an external slow performance down? Stutter seems a common word here.

Bolt / Moca / STA1520 Headache!

Hi All,

I've been struggling for some time getting MOCA set up with my Tivo Bolt and Minis. I successfully set up one mini in our MB however the one in my basement will connect to the internet and do a full successful connect/download and then give me an error that it is unable to locate the host Bolt/DVR.

I've done a reset of the mini and have searched this site and many others, along with a long time on the phone with TiVo tech support but no luck. I was previously using my Fiber connection with an Actiontec ECB2500C adapter however in the spirit of trying to fix the connection issue, I opted to get a "bundle" from Brighthouse and get internet as well. This has allowed me to provide my TiVo setup a dedicated 25mbps network. I have the Arris TG1672 modem bridged currently and have a wireless netgear supplying the direct ethernet connection to the Bolt.

I've read there are issues when connecting the 'out' from the STA1520 so I tried pulling the "out" and splitting the connection and the signal was horrible and no luck with the connection. I'll get a brief picture on the minis and then within 5-10 seconds get a screen saying it can't connect.

All the coax in my home has a dedicated run and I only have three connected, all other rooms I've removed from the splitter in my attic. I've reviewed the excellent post by the gentleman, apologies for not recalling your name, who provided pics and options along with the setup workflow but still no luck.

I'm technically savvy and ashamed I can't summon my inner late 90's networking "chops" from my CIS degree, which never included the concept of MOCA, so any wisdom you all can provide me or point me to is greatly appreciated.

***Footnote*** I have searched the site quite a bit along with others and have had no luck. If there is a thread already on this I apologize for the duplicate post.

TWC / AT&T? Then what about Charter?

In my southwestern Ohio area it seemed clear that Charter had purchased Time Warner. It was a done deal and transitions were in place. Now there's news that AT&T plans to buy Time Warner.

But...haven't they already got a new owner in Charter? I'm confused. Can anyone lend some insight?

Tivo HD Stuck on Almost There Screen after Clear Everything

Hi All,
A similar scenario has been posted before, but the solution was not shared publicly, so I'm seeking new advice. I'm selling a series Tivo HD unit (TCD652160) that was upgraded to 1TB by its previous owner. I copied all of my content off and then ran a Clear Everything & Delete (now regretting that choice). The Tivo is now stuck on the Almost There screen. I've unplugged, and restarted, ran the S.M.A.R.T. test with no errors. I tried smart codes to reinstall software with no success.
As I am not the first owner and don't have the original pre-upgrade hard drive, I haven't been able to follow the upgrade procedure to reinstall the software on the 1TB drive.

Does anyone have a solution? Is there someplace I can download a backup image of an original HD hard drive so that I can reformat the 1TB drive? Would that even work since it wouldn't be the image for THIS unit? Or is there another (hopefully easier) solution?
Thanks in advance

Three Motorola NIM-100s - Coax to Ethernet MOCA Gateway devices

Recently upgraded my MOCA network to work with the Fios Gateway router, but had previously used these NIM 100s to have Coax to Ethernet drops at my TV locations.

These are MOCA 1.0 devices and *should* work with all newer MOCA devices (according to specs, all 2.0 devices should be backward compatible), but for some reason the new Fios Gateway router wasn't backward compatible.

Simply install your incoming coax to the NIM, and coax out to your TV/TiVo, etc. Then connect an Ethernet cord from the NIM to your device for fast in-home networking. Especially good for areas where wifi is weak. You can also attach the Ethernet cable to a simple Ethernet switch and connect multiple devices to a hard wired network (I had my TiVo, PS4, PS3 and Apple TV devices all connected to the same $10 5 port switch).

Before posting on eBay, wanted to see if anyone here may want.

2 TiVo HD + WiFi Adaptors + ext HD : Free + shipping

I've got 2 unsubbed TiVo HD boxes. One is dead (not sure what's wrong, but it's not the HD) and the other works. I've also got a pair of TiVo WiFi adaptors and a 1 TB (I think) Western Digital TiVo Verified external HD. Also included, all remotes power cords.

You can have the pile for my actual cost of shipping. Offer will remain open for a week, then they're going to recycle.

Brief green screen when starting a show playback

I'm pretty sure this is relatively recent. When starting to play a show, there seems to be a slight delay then a green screen for a nano second. Anyone else seein this?

Roamio Xfinity VOD CL-13 error

Here in Nashville, TN Roamio has been giving a CL-13 error when trying to access Xfinity On-Demand for the last 2-3 weeks.

Anyone else having this problem? 3 levels of Xfinity customer service each sent reset codes to the Roamio/cable card with no success. I have a service call scheduled for this Friday 10/28/16 in the AM.

I'd appreciate any info on others having this issue so I can tell Comcast it's not just me.

Frequency "The Near Far Problem" S1E3 (10/19/16) ** SPOILERS!**

D'amn! Raims went all Dirty Harry on old Goff's ass. I kept expecting her to whip out a .44 mag any second. Lucky for her, he died in the 90s.

I keep wondering how long before Raimy and her dad tell the mom, the annoying hippy neighbor and Satch about the time traveling ham set. And, if they turn it off, does it lose the connection? :p

It was good that Raimy got to see that Maya lived a good life after her dad saved her. She tends to be shortsighted.

Maybe if the show survives more than 1 season, the Nightingale will go the way of The Reaper on Criminal Minds.

Where Is A New Update THAT DOES SOMETHING NEW?

WINTER 2015 UPDATE-1 - 20.5.6.RC14
12-08-2015

This was the last update that really did anything new. I KEEP TRACK. QM + SM (WHICH DID NOT WORK FOR S FLA COMCAST UNTIL 02-18-2016).

The only thing they did in 2015 (except in December) was cleanup what they did with OnePass.

This is the Software Update service we get from TiVo, Inc (IN MY OPINION, THAT IS)

THE BELOW ONES HAVE DONE NOTHING...(EXCEPT THAT SOME OF THEM CAUSED SOME HAVOC...)

The installer told me only 1 line needs to be run for the HD DVR & then it can be split to run both tuners. Is that correct?

Politics Prime Time 10/26

On NBC and CBS, not related to the World Series, there are some changes to prime time on 10/26. ScreenerTV agrees with this. My guide has Criminal Minds and L&O:SVU moved to about 2am. They are not shown as new in the guide but they are in my To Do List.

Note: this might be a local issue only affecting PA.

WWE Network and Remote Controls

So question as basic navigation seems okay, but going back to the previous menus etc I seem to not be able to figure out. Anyone know what buttons correspond with what features for the network on tivo by chance?

How to watch HDHR recordings on Roamio OTA

I have been searching and can't seem to find an answer to this.

We have a Roamio ota dvr and also an SD HDHomeRun tuner. Is there a way to watch content recorded by the SD HDHR using the Roamio?

We use NextPVR to record live tv from the HDHR. The recordings are saved in 2 files with a .info and .ts file extension.

Lost All Guide Info

Hi TiVo people! I've had TiVo for a little over a month now and I love it! A day or two ago the first problem appeared, all channel programming is now shown as "To Be Announced". I've tried Settings>Network Settings>Connect To TiVo Service Now" several times with no luck. Doing a search I see that people recommend going through the setup process again but they don't say how to do that. What is the solution for this?
For several days before that searching for Women's Soccer brought back 'Nothing To Record For Next Two Weeks' even though there were definitely programs to record, what was going on there? Any fix?
Thanks!

Buying old TiVo off eBay with lifetime and then transfer to bolt?

I am a little confused about transferring service as there are posts that seem to indicate one can do this - can one buy say an old TiVo off eBay with lifetime service (I see there are a bunch) and then transfer to a new unit like a bolt?

mute sound while starting tivo

I use my tivo with an ota antenna. When I start the tv and the tivo menu comes up, the sound from the ota tv is on. Sometimes it is quite loud due to the different ways we use tivo(youtube, recordings & netflix). Is there a setting in tivo that I could change that would mute the sound until I make a viewing choice?

MLB Playoff: NLCS Game 6: Dodgers at Cubs ???

Just a heads-up for anyone with a One Pass set for the MLB playoffs... My TiVos currently don't show a listing for Saturday night's Dodgers at Cubs Game 6. Nor is Game 7 in the guide.

Game 6: 7pm Central, Saturday, 10/22
Game 7: 7pm Central, Sunday, 10/23

? Is there any way to remotely force a TiVo to make a service connection? Perhaps through TiVo Online or the TiVo app?

cord cutter: Tablo plus roku vs Bolt

Anyone have experience using a Tablo for OTA, paired with a roku? The idea is to use the roku as the "one box", and access Tablo on roku via the tablo channel. My understanding is that roku has search capability across all the channels, so perhaps this gives some semblance of tivo's onepass capability?

My motivation for asking: I have cancelled my Time Warner cable TV subscription. I am using a Bolt for OTA. I want to add streaming (probably HULU plus HBO). I am tired of waiting for support for HBO Now, and the hope for the Bolt to be a top-tier streaming box seems to be withering. Any hope for TIVO to add a roku app for the Bolt seems even more unlikely.

Tivo: your approach to OTA lineup is broken please fix it

Hopefully someone with a clue from Tivo is reading this:

Tivo handles OTA channels like this:

1. User supplies zip code.
2. Box queries Tivo mothership for list of channel records pertaining to that zip.
3. Box scans actual RF signals present on antenna input.
4. Box joins #2 and #3 USING ONLY THE PHYSICAL CHANNEL FIELD to present flattened list of "channels" and asks the user to select the subset that are correct.

The list always wrong in that it will present all the Virtual Channels for which there is a Physical Channel in the received signal set, regardless of whether the ident string matches or not. So you end up with channels that you don't receive in the list, with the task to figure out which is which.

But for some users (like me) it gets much worse because the list fetched in #2 can be wrong (e.g. missing channels that are receivable from your location).

In that case, even though the box is receiving the channel(s) perfectly well in "antenna strength" UI, there is no way to get the channel into the roster for viewing or recording.

The solution to this problem (which the user has to figure out after days of reading Internet forum posts) is to ask Tivo to add the missing channels.

They sometimes do this (mine were added a few months back).
They sometimes randomly delete them again (mine were two months back).
They sometimes never bother to respond to the lineup request ticket (still waiting..)

The whole design is totally broken and wrong imho.

It should work like this:

1. Box asks user for ZIP.
2. Box downloads receivable channel set from mothership.
3. Box performs RF scan.
4. Box joins the downloaded list #2 with the received channels #3 USING THE IDENT AND PHYSICAL CHANNEL FIELDS.
5. Box now knows for sure what is what in the set of RF channels it has picked up.
6. Box also knows if it has picked up "alien" channels that are not in the set fetched in #2.
7. Box can inform user of this situation and allow cool stuff such as offer to fetch adjacent ZIP data sets to see if those channels are present there, or punt to support, or punt to web UI to fix the problem from publically available listing services.

The Good Place - S01E07 "The Eternal Shriek" (spoilers)

Wow. Didn't see Eleanor confessing to not belonging. I figured that the issues going on and on would be the main backdrop of the show. Got that one wrong.

Poor Janet - "Janet has been murdered" wasn't too fun, but "Hello" all the time was funnier. "A B Janet"

I did think it was sweet that Eleanor told Chidi that she loved him before confessing. It was nice to see that she has grown enough that she had to fix his pain and take on her own finally.

I did find it funny that "no one likes moral philosophy professors" kept cropping up. :p Poor Chidi.

Series 2 and Satellite providers

Is anybody else having problems running a Series 2 with a satellite STB?

My guide data has been gone since September 17th. I reran guided setup on one of my TiVos in the hope that this would fix my issue. However, that made matters worse. The machine would crash during the setup. I eventually had to select antenna only just so I could get the unit back to some semblance of functionality. I left my other unit untouched, in hopes that TiVo would fix this on the backend, as I've been on vacation for the last couple weeks. Upon my return, I still have this issue.

Is this a problem with everybody that runs a satellite provider, or just for Canadian customers?

Guided setup before activating CableCard

Just got a new bolt+ and moved the cablecard from a Premiere to the Bolt+

Early in to guided setup am prompted with zip code then get the prompt to call in to activate the CableCARD from the cable company (Bright House/Charter). I called in but they said it could be 3 or 4 hours until the people who do those pairing activations get in to work. So is it worth it to save time to go ahead and clear the message and continue with guided setup then call in to Bright House later or should I just wait until activation? I'm not sure I wouldn't have to do it all over anyway. It is early and thanks to that and all the old Tivo dust I'm barely thinking.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again

Anyone else try this?
It didn't cut it for me.
I'm sure that much of my problem was an extreme affection for the original so it is very difficult for me to be objective.
But Dr. Frank wasn't sexy and charismatic at all- minus that the whole thing felt kind of pointless. None of the sly wit or self awareness of Curry's rendition.
Riff Raff kinda looked like Keith Urban.

I was very pleased to see Tim Curry- since his stroke he's been fairly off the radar and it did my heart good to see him working again.
His Dr. Frank remains iconic for me- my first 'alternative type man' crush and one that feels stronger now than ever.

Skipping when trying to stream t Windows 10 PC

I don't know what's going on, but for the last few weeks, i can't stream Tivo onto my Windows 10 PC. Using Chrome, it just skips like crazy. It's not watchable at all.

Trying to use the Edge browser I get this message "We are unable to detect your TiVo streaming device from this location. If you are currently away from home, streaming video is not supported at this time." I'm on my Home Gigabit network. WIRED connection for everything.

I just checked my iPad, I'm trying to play something and now it's telling me Streaming Not Supported. The selected device (iPad) does not support streaming. To stream this show connect to the host DVR instead.

What the hell is going on? I can stream content just fine to my Tivo Mini's. I've tried unplugging the Stream box. Rebooting everything and no luck. It's driving me nuts. It was working just fine in the past. Nothing has changed on my end.

------------------------
I went though setup again on my iPad and it's now working and playing PERFECT!!! The video looks great on my iPad. I still can't figure out what's going on with my Windows PC. I just tried Internet Explorer also and it works as well at Chrome is. it plays but it's nothing but jumping, skipping and unwatchable and looks like crap. What I can make out.

TiVO & Comcast bill is too much!

Hey all y'all!
I talked my mom into cutting the cord and giving TiVO a try (I've been doing it for years.) She couldn't take it and asked to get her cable back, so I got a Comcast cablecard and things were looking great. But now her bill has jumped (obviously.) She was originally paying $50 for the lowest tier internet, and they offered the "double play" bundle for $89. Her first bill is $165 because of $45 in fees including $13 broadcast tv fee and $9 Regional Sports fee. Does this sound right to anyone? Has anyone talked comcast out of these fees?

Name that TV Show!

I remember a show maybe late 90s or early 2000s, perhaps around the same time as Two Guys, a Girl, and a pizza place. I don't remember much from the show but I do remember a scene. A guy was outside shooting basketball in a driveway and I think he was talking to a female friend and he was talking about how when you're little you can always yell "Do Over!" but when you grow up you get no more do overs.

Does this happen to sound familiar?

Can I use the 1 TB drive from the Series 3 HDXL?

I replaced the 1 TB hard drive in my Series 3 HDXL with a 2 TB several years back to increase the storage. That 1 TB drive has been sitting around since then. Can I use it as external storage on my Roamio Pro (6 tuner) and how would I go about doing that? it is a WD Green (WD10evvs) 1 tb DRIVE.
Thanks,
Bill (40wnks)

Live tv stuttering on mini

A couple times in the last week I have noticed either live TV stuttering or I get a message that said channel is not available now. Would this be an issue with the quality of signal coming in from the cable company or is it an issue with my network speed as I have my minis connected to the boat through ethernet.I have not noticed any of these issues directly with the bolt, only the minis.

Channel up and down

Is there a way with the TiVo bolt or TiVo mini remotes to get the channels to progress up and down while holding down the channel button rather than pushing it up and down 25 times? If not does anyone know if the backlit TiVo slider remote will do this?

Easiest way to add MORE hard drive space USB hard drive ???

Hi all new to the forums. I'm sure this question been asked before. I'd like to have more room to hold recorded shows. Is it possible to just plug in a USB external hard drive and configure it inside the settings on my Tivo, or what is the easiest way to add more space? thanks!

Easier Channel Delete

I don't know if Tivo ever makes any changes in response to user suggestions, but one desirable feature would be an easier way to delete unwanted channels from the channel list.

New antenna channels are often introduced by local broadcasters and in many cases they are unwanted (for example, Spanish channels when i don't speak Spanish). The only way to delete the channels currently is to write down the unwanted channel, and then go through a cumbersome series of screens through the Settings section of Tivo and manually delete from the channel list.

It would be much nicer if there was a menu option directly available in LiveTV to "Delete this Channel" when come across unwanted channels in the existing channel lineup without having to go through this cumbersome process.

Thanks for considering.

Tivo Bolt XXX (software downgrade) error

Please help. I just got a refurbed Bolt directly from Tivo. My original Bolt had a video hardware problem. I took the upgraded 2TB HD out of my original Bolt and put it in the refurbed Bolt. On boot up, after a few minutes, it displays an error "XXX (software downgrade)" on a red background. It then says to call customer service. My original Tivo had been plugged in and working with the 2TB HD until just before I swapped it into the refurb Bolt. However, the original Tivo was deregistered by Tivo about a week ago, even before the refurbed Bolt shipped. How do I resolve this error
Thanks,
akhnaten

Recording Protection

It would be very helpful to be able to pin protect recordings and one pass series. I have a special needs child who can navigate the tivo box for viewing. Unfortunately he consistently deletes recorded shows and scheduled recordings as well. He has now started permanently deleting them as well and I can't recover them anymore. He can't read so he's not aware of his actions and then he wonders why he can't find his favorite shows anymore either.

Plex channels seem improved since last time I tried them.

My TV service is limited to OTA & Streaming. I do not get a signal from a CW affiliate.

I haven't tried adding any plex channels since a year or so ago.
CW has recently made all their current content available via streaming and came out with new apps for other platforms, so I thought I'd see if they had a plex channel.

The CW Plex app (channel) is there and it works great.

What surprised me was that other channels that hadn't work last time all work fine now. When I tried them a long time ago, it would give me an error message stating the app (channel) wasn't supported by the device (or opera).
I guess it could have been something in my setup, but I think it's more likely that they work due an update to the channels (or plex app).

Anyways, if you're using plex and haven't messed with the plex channels for a while, it's worth looking at again.

Bolt and Cordcutting

Overall I have been happy with the Bolt. In purchasing the Bolt my ultimate goal is cordcutting. I really liked that I could use the bolt with Cable TV or antenna. This would facilitate that transition.

The one problem I am having now is replacing some of the cable channels. Most of them have been locked up by the cable companies through deals with those cable channels. You have to be a cable subscriber to view the content. This sort of defeats my goal.

One of the few options to solve this is Sling TV. I have seen several posts on this, but it seems to be going nowhere.

Is there anything new about a SlingTV app for the Bolt?

Survivor S33E05 "Idol Search Party" - 10/19/2016 *spoilers*

Good episode. We knew from the previews that they would be switching up the tribes, but I definitely didn't expect them to go to three tribes when the number of people left was not divisible by three. Interesting twist to give the extra player to the tribe that had to start from scratch and build their camp again.

Mikaela was a rock star in this episode, between lighting the fire and then sinking all those baskets, she really kicked ass. I'm pretty impressed with her.

I'm not sure it was a good idea for Chris and David to vote out CC. Now the Gen Xers are down 9-6 overall, and there's a very good chance that no matter which tribe loses next week, another Gen Xer could be gone (unless David plays his idol). By the time they get to the Merge, the Gen Xers could be massively outnumbered.

M60 Error code

I have had this Roamio Plus for well over a year.... and I never have received this error
Yet in the last 2 weeks, I keep getting it, This along with my guide data messed up sure is a PITA !!!

Come on Rovi, get your stuff together and fix this mess you created.

TiVo Device Error Code M60 (or T60)

The TiVo box has no information about upcoming TV shows & movies. Please connect to the TiVo service now. Until the TiVo box connects successfully, shows will not record.

Tivo bolt and Comcast. What a nightmare

I just got my Tivo Bolt and just got Concast. What a nightmare it has been trying to get them to pair it with the cablecard. I KNOW the cablecard works (as the one screen that gives the information as to whether its successfully paired has all the right values) and yet it hangs at 89% when trying to acquire the channels. This is on them and after 5 days they are pretty much refusing to fix it. Meanwhile they have pushed relentlessly to sign me up for X1 service.
i feel I need to complain to the FCC or something because it cant be THAT hard to pair the card. Its ridiculous.

Lineup problems with FIOS Howard County, MD

After some folks in the DC area had a lineup issue fixed, TiVo screwed up the FIOS Howard County (and my guess is AA as well) mapping. After the last call in, the DC network stations were deleted and some of the NOVA channels were mapped, although the actual DC networks are still actually there.

I opened a Case Number 06275363 with TiVo online support. Everyone in Howard (and AA?) should immediately contact TiVo by phone or online to get this fixed ASAP, hopefully without them re-screwing up the DC folks.

Conversion of TiVo files - which format

When I download a show using the TiVo desktop app, I generally use VideoReDo to edit and save the file. I have been converting the files to MPEG-2 mp4 files because it takes so much longer to remux the file for MPEG-4.

One thing I have noticed is that there seem to be an extraordinary number of resync frames on the .tivo recordings from my Roamio basic. When I use an h264 mp4 file recorded off-air from my HD Homerun, there are generally no resyncs at all. I also was using a Roamio OTA before going back to cable. I noticed the same difference. Many re-syncs on files converted/edited from the OTA: virtually none for the HD Homerun.

Having said that, I don't see any visual problems with my converted .tivo files when I watch them, or with the original files watched through the Roamio. Anyone else have a similar (or different) experience?

The Flash S03E03 "Magenta" 10/18/2017

Magenta seemed like a Dollar Store version of Magneto.

Other than Batman's, the DC Universe seems to have a lot crappier villains than the Marvel Universe at least from what I can tell by their tv shows.

I don't have a farm but if I did, I'd bet that Wally will try to get his speed on by making a deal with Alchemy.

Iris (Candice Patton) seems more attractive to me this season.

IOS TiVo App

Is anyone else seeing this issue:
the new version of the app no longer seeing my TiVoHD.
I've tried restarting the TiVo and the router, reseting the app but no luck
the app version is 3.7.3(945690)

any ideas?

Pete

PS I also put in a ticket with TiVo.

Supergirl S02E02 "The Last Children Of Krypton" 10/17/2016

I wondered why Metallo and that other dude didn't figure out that Krypton beaming directly into the Supergirl's and Superman's new chest shield wasn't working and maybe they should aim for another part of the body.

I sure seemed like Cat doesn't know that Kara is Supergirl.

It was kind of jarring to hear Cat call Kara Kara and not Kira.

Recently Deleted Folder Error

The recently deleted folder in My Shows (Roamio Plus) shows that it contains two shows, but in fact it is empty. While this is obviously not a big deal, I wonder if anyone else has had a similar issue and if there's a way to correct it. Thanks.

Issues after changing Bolt video to 4K 60fps...

So I got a new Bolt about 2 months ago and it worked great until I got my 4K TV and changed video settings to 4K 60fps and pass through. Almost immediately after that I started experiencing 2 issues that would come and go randomly. The first is when I would go to play a previously recorded program a white snowy screen would appear as soon as I press play. That particular issue could be resolved by powering the unit and no recording was ever affected, any recorded show always played back fine after unit was reset. The second is a 1-2 second delay with a black screen when any remote button is pressed on the remote that controls a Tivo function. When you change a channel, go to Tivo central, and FF/RW for instance. It is impossible to FF a show and stop at the exact spot you want because when you press the button the show starts to FF, the screen goes black and when you press the button again to stop it goes black again at which point the place you wanted to stop has already gone by. It is very frustrating. Sometimes powering the unit will fix this issue and sometimes it wont. These two issues come and go by themselves and in no pattern I have recognized. I have tried changing video back to 1080P automatic to no avail as it seems these problems are permanently set in box now for some reason. When I first set Bolt video to 4K and tested the screen was black as it wasnt processing the signal for some reason. But the Netflix app showed and played 4K content sometimes. And other times maybe 30 mins later Netflix would not show 4K content. I thought this may be a handshake issue however I am still having other problems in normal 1080P mode with just an HD signal which makes me believe there is some kind of a software glitch. I have also kept my eye on my wifi signal which has not gone under 50mbps (normally between 80-130mbps). My router is a Nighthawk and is only about 20 ft from the TV and Tivo. I am using Audioquest 2.0/ 18gbps Cinnamon HDMI with a Sony XBR-65X750D TV on HDMI port 3 which is 2.2 HDCP HDR enabled. Tivo techs say they have seen this issue with some other folks but I am curious if anyone here has seen this and if they were able to resolve it without replacing the box. That is what I am going to be pressing for very shortly if it continues.

What should I watch next (poll)

Looking to start watching a new season.

Selling my Tivo Series 3 HD with lifetime (RTP, NC area)

This is a Tivo Series 3 HD model # TCD648250B. It has a 250GB hard drive. It is in perfect working condition and comes with Lifetime service. What this means is that you can use the TiVo without paying a monthly fee and the service is transferable to a new owner.

If you're a cord-cutter and miss having a DVR, this could be the perfect device for you!

It has two tuners, which means it can record two programs at the same time. While it's recording you can watch a program which has already been recorded. If you've never used a DVR, this totally changes the way you watch TV as you can now time-shift your TV viewing to watch at your convenience. I've used it primarily for over the air TV - you'll need to connect your antenna to the antenna connection in the back.

If you use OTA TV, you'll know how important a good tuner is and this model of the TiVo is considered by the experts to have one of the best tuners to date ... considered to be superior to it's successor (the Premiere).

If you're interested in a demo of the product, I'd suggest we meet at my place of work near I-40 exit 287 where we can demo the TiVo and then contact the company to perform the transfer of the Lifetime service.

Besides the box itself and power cord, it comes with the original remote, a wifi dongle, manual and the original box. You can see images in the Raleigh CL post at http://ift.tt/2ekceQC.

The sale is cash only. $149.

The TiVo is notorious for it's rubber feet crumbling (just google "tivo series 3 hd rubber feet"). This has a felt pad for one of the feet and I'll provide additional felt pads for the others so they can be used when needed.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow in Palm Beach, FL

WTVX is preempting the Thur Oct 20 episode in favor of local high school football. The preempted episode will be broadcast Sat Oct 22 at 8pm.

I simply dont understand this

I enjoy my Bolt. Very happy. HOWEVER, the picture pixelates and has audio dropouts while in DOLBY DIGITAL mode. Especially the news and sport crawls at the bottom of the screen get jittery. BUT... when I go to PCM, the audio AS WELL AS THE VIDEO is perfect. Does this make any sense?

Amazon Prime Channels - Do they work on TiVo?

I'm and Amazon Prime member and am reasonably happy with the video providers app on the TiVo. They have subscriptions you can buy (Showtime, Starz, etc.) and I was wondering if these work on the TiVo?

Anybody try them with success?

Audio issues when transferring ABC programs

Hi All,

Not really sure where to post this question, so thought I would try here.

I have two Tivos: Tivo Premier XL and a Tivo HD. Both are connected to Comcast cable. I use KMTTG to transfer recordings to a Mac and then download to my iPad to watch. I use a video player on my Mac (don't remember which app) to watch the recordings. Everything has been working great for years.

In the past three weeks, when I download shows that recorded on ABC (e.g The Goldbergs, Designated Survivor, Speechless, etc.), the dialog track on the transfer is only picking up one channel (right) and it is very garbled. The music sounds OK (not great). This happens regardless of whether the show was recorded in HD or non HD and it does not matter which Tivo. All other shows that transfer sound fine (non-ABC). Watching the shows on Tivo, they sound fine. Again, this just started a few weeks ago.

This change seems to be related to when Tivo pushed out their last big update (but could be coincidence). I have tried updated KMTTG but no difference.

Was hoping someone else might have seen this issue or have a suggestion?

Thanks!

Timeless S01E03 10/17/2016 "Atomic City"

Timeless is playing a little fast and loose with our atomic bomb testing at the Nevada Test Site.

In the latest episode, "Atomic City", our motley crew goes back in time to September 24, 1962, where they observe above ground bomb testing off in the distance, explaining that during the nuclear tests, people would flock to Las Vegas to watch the explosions, thus earning the city the nickname of "Atomic City". The only problem with this is that the last above ground test explosion was on July 17, 1962, thus before their arrival in 1962.

Also notice the typewriter being used by the Western Union clerk. The model is clearly an IBM Correctable Selectric II, which was not put on the market until 1973. You can easily see the orange correction ribbon spool. They couldn't find an original IBM Selectric, as introduced in 1961? They're not that hard to find.

Nitpicks, but sloppy ones, IMHO. Of course, I guess we could explain away these minor errors by saying the timeline had been changed by their previous exploits? :D

A lot of the switch panels in the original time ship seem to be labeled in Russian Cyrillic. I love that the time ship has a bilge pump. :)

Deadliest Catch : Bubye Josh

YouTube app crashes

Starting to see these on a regular basis now when watching vids on the Mini. Just crashes back to the Tivo menu randomly.

How much faster is the Bolt+ versus the Roamio Pro?

I've been using the TiVo Roamio Pro for a while now and it's perfectly fine for watching Live TV and navigating the guide. Watching recorded content is also fine but sometimes there's a very slight delay when listing the episodes.

However, YouTube is incredibly slow and Netflix is also not great.

Is the Bolt+ a lot faster? Are there any videos to show the difference?

What steps do I need to take to sell a Bolt?

So I'm looking to sell my Bolt 1 TB, it has 2+ months of initial service left on it as I got it after the last holiday season.

I'm mainly looking to see what I need to do account wise. I take it I need to call up Tivo and cancel my account. Then the new owner will need to call up Tivo and create an account and activate it. Correct so far?

If there is any time left on the initial year that was included, do they get to finish that year off or will they start new with their monthly/yearly plan?

I still may not sell it but I'm getting by just fine with just streaming options thru my Roku and haven't even touched the Tivo yet this fall season. So I'm proving I don't need it.

Forged in Fire - new ID?

I had to create a new Season Pass (OnePass, whatever) for tonight's NEW episode of "Forged in Fire" on the History channel, airing Tuesdays. The old pass picks up different episode titles than the new one, so i'm leaving both in my system for now.

Oddly, we saw a promo last week that implied last Tuesday's episode was the season finale, but Zap2It lists tonight's as ep#309, and the History Channel's website also calls it season 3 ep 9. We shall see if it actually airs (and records).

Question re replacing Bolt

I’m replacing my Bolt with a Bolt + and just want to make sure I do it right. I have a Comcast CC and I also have 3 TiVo Mini’s connected via MoCA. I assume my first step is to call Comcast to switch the cable card to the new TiVo? If that’s right, my main question is what to do with the TiVo mini’s. Should I unplug them while I go through setup on the new Bolt +? Will I need to go through setup again on the Mini’s once I have the Bolt + connected and running MoCA? **Anything else I should be looking out for when I do the swap?

Roamio fried? Solid Red and Blue Lights

Last night, mid show, my roamio froze up with a solid red and blue light on the front.

It seemed to eventually recover, before doing it again.

A look at the history log showed a bunch of recordings over the weekend had failed due to "no power" (system had power the whole time...) and many others were partial recordings. I'm assuming it froze during these times.

Some reboots did nothing, though a reboot with no cable card/ethernet/tuning adapter got it up and running. Seemed to be working fine last night, but this morning we're frozen on blue/red with no signal again.

When frozen the TiVo app can't connect to the box.

Hardware failure vs software failure? Thoughts? I'm kinda thinking I should wipe the box and hope it's some software fault, which would be a bummer recording wise but at least give me a shot at keeping it.

If this guy is dead, it may finally be cord cutting time and the end of TiVo, as I'm not sure I want to invest in a bolt and lifetime

Bolt RF Remote Intermittent IR Mode?

I have only had my Bolt for a couple of months. Seems to be working OK, but I find one strange and somewhat irritating behavior with the RF remote: fairly frequent regression to IR for about 30 seconds.

With the RF remote, you can tell if it is sending signals in RF or IF mode by the color of the LED flash on the tip of the remote: Yellow = normal RF, Red = old IR.

I have my Bolt located in a room with no other TiVos, and the remote is properly paired to it in RF mode. There is a large sculpture on the coffee table between me and the Bolt that blocks a normal IR remote unless you lift it up a foot or so. The RF remote usually works just fine, but every day or two when I am moving though the menus, the Bolt just stops responding for a few button pushes, and if I look at the remote while this happens, I can see the light is flashing RED (meaning it is sending an IR signal, not the normal RF). Generally it goes back to RF mode within 20-30 seconds. If it wasn't for that sculpture blocking the IR signal, I probably never would have noticed this issue, since I normally am not looking at the remote while I use it. If I raise the remote for a clear line-of-sight while it is flashing red, the Bolt responds to the IR signal fine, but that is not the issue. I think it should STAY in RF mode all the time.

The RF remote normally has a very strong signal and long range - I can go into a totally different room and push the remote and the RF signal still triggers the Bolt just fine, so it is not an issue of low batteries or being on the fringe of the RF range from my normal seat. WHY is the Bolt Remote dropping down to IR so frequently? Anybody else notice this, or should I be suspecting a problem with the remote?

The Walking Dead - The Journey So Far

Man, it was fantastic. So many things I had forgotten about.

Cannot wait for season 7 to start.

Premiere XL4 from TiVoHD?

My mother passed away a year ago and I ended up with her Premiere XL4 box with lifetime. We didn't have a use for it at the time so it's sat in the closet.

Recently our 2nd TiVo, a TiVoHD, has started having problems. We ended up replacing the HD and it is still struggling. I'm wondering now about just swapping the whole unit for the Premiere XL4. How do the two compare? What would I need to do to get it running? I think it may still be on her account - does that matter any?

Thanks in advance!

No Pictures next to shows

Since the switch to Rovi I have lost all the Pictures next to all my shows and season passes on my Tivo Premier Elite. Is there a way I can fix this or do I need to wait on a bug fix?

"Resume program" gone

When viewing on demand programs there is no longer an option to "resume program". A month or so ago (prior to an update) I could watch a portion of an on demand program and then return later to watch the remainder. Now if I don't watch the entire program all in one sitting I have to sit through the portion I've already watched for a second time.

Anyone see "The Accountant" yet?

I'm wanting to go see this movie, but as the sole caregiver for my 94-year-old mother, I simply can't free up enough time.

TIMELESS- episode 102 and on

It seems some people used the episode one thread for further discussions. It was felt a separate thread should be made for discussions beyond episode one, and so this thread is being started.

EDIT:
I failed to include a spoiler warning in the title of this thread, so for this first post, I'll put everything in hiding, since this is only the third week of the show.

Spoiler:
Regarding episode 2...

Has anyone noticed something about Lucy's last name?

I finally saw the second half of the second episode, and noticed that both Lucy and Amy were said to have the same last name as their mother, "Preston". Her father's last name was "Wallace".

I went back and watched the opening few minutes of episode 1, and when Homeland Security comes to get Lucy, they call her "Preston".

This is before the first timeline change.

Seems a little odd that if her parents were married in the original timeline, she never had her father's last name.

In giving her family's details to the girl at the project who did research for her, she apparently said that Amy's last name was also "Preston".

Again, what's with the kids having their mother's last name and not their father's, even in the timeline when Amy's father and the mother were married?

Seems a little off.

How often do you meet someone who's in their late 20s or early 30s today, born to married parents, who has their mother's last name, not their father's?

Wisconsin-Milwaukee/October 18 US Senate Debate/MAO-SHIELD/Real O'Neals

It's been months since the station set the schedule, but Rovi couldn't be bothered to make sure WISN-TV's debate for the US Senate was scheduled for 8:30-10pm tomorrow night (they did the same tonight for a congressional debate on WFRV which pre-empted "Scorpion").

According to Zap2It/Screener (boy I miss them), "SHIELD" is on tomorrow night at 1:07am, while "The Real O'Neals" gets the Sunday at 4:30pm treatment, so if you're in Milwaukee, this should help, I hope; oddly both shows are in those slots, but of course they aren't going to record in the alternate slots since TiVo will assume the 8:30pm-10pm non-airings during the debate are new and the others are repeats.

How do I onepass NFL night football.

I had a onepass that recorded Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday night football.
That onepass doesn't work anymore since Rovi screwed everything up.
How do I setup a one pass to record the Thursday, Sunday and Monday night NFL football games?

I don't want Sunday afternoon games, just the night games. I usually watch Sundays live but am usually late to start watching the TNF, SNF and MNF games.

After Rovi screwed me out of watching Thursday night football a few weeks ago I changed my onepass that had been working previously and set up three individual onepasses for Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night football that worked that weekend but hasn't worked since.

Now I see Monday Night Football is just called NFL football in the guide. NFL football games can appear on five channels, FOX, CBS, NBC, ESPN and NFL network, the night games are on NFL network Thursdays, NBC Sundays and ESPN Mondays.

I missed 30 minutes of SNF last night before I manually started recording and I missed and an hour of MNF tonight before I started a manual recording.

I have three thumbs up on NFL football as well, but even tivo suggestions didn't start a recording.

S02 error

my tivo was disconnected for 2 months. just reconnected it. I can connect, it downloads the data, but the last step, loading info, fails.

I tried rebooting.

Connection works well.

Any ideas why the error?

Opt-out... disables video transfers?

I contacted TiVo support today to opt-out and I was informed that this will disable my video transfer capability between my TiVos as well as TiVo-to-Go and Tivo Desktop (so I assume also pyTivo and kmttg). Does anyone know if this is true and if so what is up with TiVo as there should not be a technical requirement for this....?

I have been strongly considering moving over to an open-source platform since they are not the only game in town anymore... and this just pushes enough buttons if it is true.

How much is my TCD648250B worth?

I've got a Series 3 HD. Model # TCD648250B. For a long period of time it had a 1TB drive which finally gave out. While opening the case we noticed that some capacitors on the power supply were swollen. A friend of mine who works on electronics replaced the capacitors. So now it has the original 250GB drive besides no swollen capacitors. It took a while to get the repairs done (this was over the summer). During that time I bought a different DVR, so I don't need two. I've plugged in the Series 3 HD and run it for a while to test it out, recording various shows and it runs fine. It's also been upgraded to handle Rovi guide data.

I don't do eBay so it'll be a local sale on Craigslist in central NC. I've tried looking at eBay but have not been able to determine what it's worth. It's also in good cosmetic condition, besides being functional. With original box, remote and manual. And, yes it has Lifetime Service. What would the experts on this forum recommend I ask for it?

Thanks for reading this and your feedback.

FIOS question

I have a TiVo Premiere XL using a cable card (and Tuning Adapter) with Optimum on Long Island. Works pretty well for the most part - sometimes the Tuning adapter disconnects and I need to reboot everything. I'm thinking of switching to Verizon Fios. How well does the Fios cable card work with the Tivo Premiere? Do they have their own version of Tuning Adapter?

Bolts Starts, Then Shuts Down

My TiVo Bolt has an annoying new problem - when I turn it on it immediately turns itself off. The TV is running, but the screen is blank. I tried rebooting and it worked for a soccer match. But when I just tried to watch something else it wouldn't stay running.

"Embedded Bluetooth Technology"??

So TiVo just sent me another email add for the Bolt+ (think they would know I am OTA only by now). The Picture of the Bolt + had 4 features of the Bolt+ noted"

1. "1400 Mhz Dual Core chip"
2. "4K Ultra HD comparable"
3. "Built in wire-less connection"
4. "Embedded Bluetooth Technology"

So what does the Embedded Bluetooth Technology do/provide or is this for something coming in the future?

activating a deactivated TiVo HD

I have 2 working TiVo HDs in my house, and I'm considering replacing one with a TiVo Bolt.

When I called TiVo customer service they were very helpful in mapping out how I can deactivate the TiVo HD just before the annual renewal happens.

But, I was surprised to learn that once I deactivate the older TiVo HD, it can never be reactivated. While I certainly don't have any plans to reactivate it, I sort of thought I'd keep it as a backup in case my other TiVo HD dies. The CSR said something about the older TiVo wouldn't take the software update, etc.

Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know of a way to get around this? Or is some hard and fast rule that TiVo will not activate Series 3 TiVos any more?

RE: Can you create folders for different types of movies with TiVo?...

...Our DIRECTV contract expires soon and I'm thinking of returning to DISH - primary reason - you can create folders in DISH, name them anything you want, such as Film Noir or Kids Movies and go directly there to watch your own recordings. We can't do that with DIRECTV, but a CSR with DIRECTV said that we could if we have TiVo with our pkg if it it does not cost more. She quoted me $118 for the Premier pkg - expensive! Objective is to save as much as we can and get the most channels - just like everyone else - but separating a long list of movies on the hard drive by categories or type into folders is a must for me.

Sorry for the long message - just need someone's accurate knowledge about this.

Thanks for anyone's help.

Asterisk in description

I noticed there is sometimes an asterisk at the end of a show's description. Any idea what that means? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Bolt streaming issues

I purchased a Bolt in early June this year. It would reboot randomly and frequently when watching live TV or a recording. TiVo support deemed it defective. A replacement was dispatched and the unit returned.
On the second unit, I have had no problems with rebooting during live TV or playback of recorded shows. However, I have experienced 4 or 5 times streaming(in home) to my iPhone or iPad that will freeze then the Bolt reboots. Streaming has been erratic in general. Not all streaming failures result in a reboot, but as I said, 5 have. My streaming success is around 50%. The longer the stream the less the success rate.
Talked with TiVo this morning. They suggested a few things to check. If that is not it, they want $50 to send a box that works as designed. I should have received that box to begin with, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyone else willing to share your iOS streaming experience with me?
I really don't want to replace the box unless I know there is a hardware issue. But the deciding factor on replacing my Premiere with the Bolt was because of the streaming feature. Which frankly has been a disappointment so far. Is your in home streaming reliable and stable?

Replicating TiVo media library

Is there any tool available to replicate the TiVo recordings to a Windows PC?

What I'd like to see is something that can run daily (or on demand), will copy all of the TiVo recordings to a Windows PC (in a format that can be used by Plex or other media players), will only copy recordings that are missing on the PC, and will delete those recordings on the PC that are no longer present on the TiVo box.

It looks like kmttg gets close - but won't delete recordings on the PC that are no longer present on our TiVo box.

With kmttg, it looks like the only way to do this is to delete all of the recordings on the PC and then run kmttg to copy everything back over.

Any suggestions on a better solution?

V53 errors!!

I just got a new setup with A Tivo Bolt and a couple Tivo Minis.

I have tried the setup using both MOCA and Ethernet. No matter what I do i occasionally get v53 errors on the main Tivo Bolt and more often than not get them on the Tivo Mini.

I just dont get it

Problem Setting OnePass For Goliath

I already have a OnePass for Bosch and The Man In The High Castle from Amazon. I'm trying to set one for Goliath, but search can't seem to find it. Does Amazon delay access by TiVo?

Supernatural Season 12 Ep 1 - Keep Calm and Carry On

The writing of this show never ceases to amaze me. Great ep. I don't understand why Castiel did not use some power to take care of the woman with the brass knuckles.

One Pass reorders everytime Mini is used.

One Pass reorders everytime Mini is used. Anyone else experiencing this?

Westworld "The Stray" S1E3 (10/16/16) **SPOILERS!**

Well, looks like we've got a Heart of Darkness subplot going on, with Wyatt as Col. Kurtz, and Marsden as Capt Willard. I almost expected him to start spouting Wyatt's military record, etc., etc., etc.*

Did anyone else not see that the carving the dumbass tech picked up in the tent was Orion the Hunter? Had the guy never read a book or seen a movie? How far into the future is Westworld set?

I'm guessing Dr. Ford's original partner had designs on creating sentient beings. And, how could that possibly go worng? ;)

*Ref: Apocalypse Now. (I assume most TCF's would get that, but you never know).

TiVo Humax T800 Series 2 Upgrade questions

I have a few questions about my TiVo Series 2. I used MFS tools a few years ago to replace my 80GB OEM drive that came with the TiVo with a nice 160GB drive I pulled out of an old PC. It ran for 5 years and I was quite happy with it till it died recently. I do have a spare 250GB IDE drive but I have some questions about the MFS tools. In reading the directions, it mentions:
"Any size IDE drive can be used, however any drive larger than 137gb will be used by TiVo as a 137gb drive, and you can use up to two drives." It does seem counter-productive. I'd like to use just one 250GB drive and really get 3x the storage my OEM drive had. Is there a way around this 137GB drive limitation?

Another part of the directions say: "Also, these instructions are only intended for those who have never upgraded their TiVo or have upgraded it at most one time" What exactly does that mean? I was hoping to use the MFS tools to copy my OEM drive again, or use the backup image I created from my OEM drive to build a new replacement drive. I would think it wouldn't matter how many times I did that.

Well, any information anyone has would be most appreciated.

Tom

Connect Roamio to composite inputs of TV?

Hello, my TV is in the shop, and I'd like to hook up an old TV I have as a temporary substitute. That TV has no HDMI input, but it does have the red/white/yellow composite input, also a coax input. But the only output I see on the back of my Roamio is HDMI. Is there some way to hook the two together?

Mini messing up video on Bolt

Has anyone ever known that one device can screw up an entire network. I have been having pixelated video issues for two months and going nuts trying to fix it. I am on my second Bolt, changed all my splitters twice, redid every coax I could get to and then I found it. After an hour on the phone with tech support we got the idea to turn other devices off and the moment I turned off the Mini in my office the pixilated video on my Bolt stopped. Turned it back on and the problem returned.

Relocated the mini to another room to try it on another coax drop, same problem. My other mini works just fine at any position.

So I wonder how a mini could make the video on my Bolt go bad?

Options for connecting OTA antenna to Roamio OTA

Hi all,

I've purchased a Roamio OTA device. It's located downstairs (in split level house) and connected to our primary TV in family room.

The OTA antenna is barely picking up a signal based on position.

I want to know other options for relocating the antenna to a better position and then connecting it to the Roamio device.

I'm thinking (if this is possible) to relocate the OTA antenna upstairs or in attic and then connect the antenna either directly to our existing MoCA network via Coax, or to our existing ethernet network to MoCA network via MoCA adapters.

Bottom line, I just need to get a stronger OTA signal to our Roamio box, without running an incredibly long coax cable from downstairs to upstairs :), or completely rewiring the house.

Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Does out of home streaming block NFL games?

I am on the road in DFW airport, thought I would stream the Atlanta vs Seattle game from my X1 DVR. Ha, no such luck it is blocked by Comcast and NFL.

Would the TiVo out of home streaming help me in this scenario or have same issues?

Premiere with MINI

Ever since I added a TiVo Mini my iPad only connects to the Premiere via the Mini. If I select the Premiere it fails to connect. I use the iPad to manage One Pass but now have to select the Mini to manage this process.

AND now One Pass reorders everytime Mini is used.

TiVo promos at thanksgiving?

I haven't owned a TiVo since leaving U.K. in 2005. With media center dead and Comcast X1 being hum ho for the monthly rental I am pretty certain I will move to bolt+

I am itching to get one, but if waiting a month is likely to be advantageous I think I can wait.....

Treehouse of Horror Simpsons

If you're like me and have stopped watching The Simpsons on a regular basis, but still return each year for the annual "Treehouse of Horror" episodes, be sure to manually grab a recording of tonight's XXVII -- it's also the series 600th episode.

Season Pass NFL Team

How do I set up a Season Pass for my favorite team's NFL games? I don't want other games and I do not want non-game shows about them. Just the games they play in.

I found this from TiVo , which sounds promising:
http://ift.tt/1odKgcC
"On your TiVo Roamio, go to TiVo Central > Find TV, Movies, & Videos > Browse TV & movies to find the Collections. Selecting the Sports Collection and then the NFL Collections, where you’ll find all 32 NFL teams’ logos displayed. Simply select your team’s logo and any other team you wish to follow and your TiVo Roamio will make sure you never miss a game."

However, when I browse to "Collections" on my Romio, there is no "NFL Collections" nor are there NFL (or other) any team logos.

I tried this also in the app and got the same results.

It seems that it should be simple to create a Season Pass to record all games that a particular team plays in without non-game shows and without games the team does not participate in.

I give up, how do I set this up?

I think I have the latest update. Do I need to force an update to add this functionality?

Thanks!

Picture Quality of Leased RCN Premiere vs. Owned Roamio

Yesterday I just started leasing a two tuner Tivo Premiere from RCN in Chicago. I noticed that its picture quality is sharper than the six tuner Roamio I own and that I'm using with an RCN cable card.

The RCN Premiere settings menu also has a Video Smoothing option that the Roamio menu does not have.

Has anyone else noticed these things?

Did they take away the video smoothing option in the Roamio and turn it on by default, thereby reducing picture quality?

Does splitting the bandwidth for six tuners reduce the quality? (I doubt it.)

Do newer Premieres have better tuners / faster processors?

HD upgrade on unit under warranty, Tivocurrent policy?

Hi - I got a Roamio 6 mo ago and took the 3-yr extended because it was very reasonably priced. I'd like to drop in a 2-TB drive though. I had read somewhere that TiVo can tell if you upgrade, but that they were now cool about this? Or, specifically, that if my unit died and I stuck the old drive back in, they would honor the warranty?

Can anyone comment on this? It is a pipe dream, unofficial policy? Official policy? If it's not cool I'm not going to do it (I don't need the extra space that badly, - just a "nice to have").

Thanks!
/j

"No information exists about antenna channels"

Wow, I never thought I'd find a TiVo error that I can't find with a Google search, but that time has come!

My mom's TiVo XL (with Lifetime) hard drive died, and I had an extra TiVo HD drive, so I installed it in the XL.

After a "Clear and Delete Everything" (which took hours), it returned to Guided Setup.

Here's the "new" error: In Guided Setup, I selected Antenna Only and entered the ZIP code.

After downloading and loading the data, it returned the error: "No information exists about antenna channels for ZIP Code xxxxx. You'll need to use a different ZIP Code. Try a neighboring community that might have the same or similar channels."

No matter what ZIP Code I enter, even other cities and states, it returns the same error. If I select Cable, it returns a similar error saying no cable providers were found.

I tried rebooting, same issue. The antenna is connected.

I can't figure out for the life of me what's wrong. I'm not the biggest TiVo expert, but I've been an avid user since 2000, and have replaced hard drives, etc... this one has me stumped; I clearly need a higher level of expertise!

THANK YOU in advance to the Community for any help or ideas! Let me know what other info you need from me.

Tivo Mini has YELLOW light on front

I have had 4 tivo minis since 2013 and a Roamio Pro. After some frustration getting them all working (in spite of tech support telling me repeatedly the minis don't work with switches) they were all working fine until Oct 2016. One mini was not used for 5 months recently and not connected to power. Totally OFF. I turned it on again (with all the same previous connections to MoCA and TV) and I got NOTHING on the screen of the TV, in fact the TV detected nothing connected to HDMI input. I noticed the small light on the front of the Mini looked "yellowish" or maybe light orange in color. All my other Minis had a white light.
I tried using different Mini power supplies, and connecting to other TVs and still NO display on any TV. I called Tivo Customer support and the final answer was that the mini needed replacement and that would cost me at least $80 since it was out of warranty.
As a last resort, I decided to connect ethernet cable to the Mini and power it up one more time. Still a yellow light on the Mini, but I noticed the ethernet connection on the back of the Tivo indicated it was connected and possibly receiving data. I found what IP address the Mini was using and after 30 minutes, I tried to HTTP to that IP address. I was surprised to find that I got the TIVO welcome screen! I checked the Mini and the light was now white and when I turned on the TV, I saw that the Mini was operating normally.
If you have a MINI that has been off for a while and you see a yellow light when you power it up again, just wait a while and it might actually start working again!

Best choice for TiVo HD drive replacement

A few years ago I purchased and installed a 1TB Western Digital hard drive (WD10EVDS) in my 652 HD TiVo. The drive's now failing. What would be the best compatible choice of drive for my TiVo these days?

Anyone have luck transferring lifetime from Series 1 to Bolt +?

I'm a grandfathered Series 1 lifetime customer and want to take advantage of the one-time transfer. I'd like to transfer to the Bolt +, but have been told that the Bolt + isn't eligible. I'd really like the extra 2 tuners, otherwise I would just transfer to the Bolt. Anyone have any luck transferring to a Bolt + or have any other ideas?

Separately, I already have a Bolt and if I can't transfer the lifetime to a new Bolt +, I'd like to transfer it to my existing Bolt, but am I right that the transfer is only eligible for a new purchase, i.e., I can't transfer it to a Bolt that I already own?

As an FYI, my Series 1 was not active during the special "window" so although I am grandfathered (I confirmed that), I'm not eligible for the gift card.

Local Streaming Glitch This Morning - Bolt+>iOS

Had an issue with local streaming this morning. Trying to watch live TV on the iPad, the recording would start, then freeze on the first frame of playback.

First thing I did was quit and restart the iOS app. NG. Then I tried streaming to my iPhone instead. Same issue. Then I rebooted the wireless router. Didn't help. Finally I rebooted the Bolt+ and that fixed it.

First time I've seen this since I started streaming in home last November. There was an update to the iOS app this week for "bug fixes". I hope it didn't create new problems. Our "kitchen TV" is an iPad that accounts for about 3 hours a day of viewing.

The timing was all off on Elegant Evenings, everyone stepping on everyone's lines.

I guess Chonk was the big winner for me for the night, not that that is saying a lot.

Holy crap the Burger King skit was just a huge turd, just how in the hell that got on air I have no idea.

XFINITY On Demand - V301 - App Temporarily Unavailable

For the last two days, I have been receiving the V301 error when trying to use the XFINITY On Demand app on my Roamio and Mini. I called Comcast and verified with them that my CC was properly paired but that did not help.

Is anyone else experiencing this error?

Thanks,

Anyone on Charter ever lose all channels?

Happened tonight. Rebooted Roamio with no change. All channels not authorized, V5x. Thought about reseating the cable card, but first went the the Charter web page. Then to troubleshooting, then to channels not authorized, then to refresh boxes. Worked in about five seconds.

Not happy about the problem, but it's nice to be able to handle it in about 20 seconds over the Internet. Charter used to have and maybe still does a number to call and you just say "refresh box".

Use Tivo without Tivo service subscription?

I'm looking to buy a second HDTV but don't want to rent the cable company's cable box. I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a Tivo box to use with a CableCARD but without a Tivo service subscription just for the HDTV programming from the cable company? This is what I do now using a Samsung SMART Media Player and a CableCARD with my current HDTV, but Samsung doesn't make that item any more

Thanks for any help!

Graphics for netflicks and other items have no graphics

We have two Tivo Roamio boxes. One Tivo box shows all the little graphics next to items such as Netflicks, Pandora, etc.. The other Tivo box does not and yet they have the exact same software level etc.. They where purchased at the same time.
Is there a trick to get the graphics to appear? Not a big deal but I like to see those. :o

Comcast CableCARD "cost" increase with billing system update

All,

Got the recent October bill from Comcast and noticed that the total had gone up roughly $25. Turns out the local franchise was just moved to their "new" billing system and instead of just being charged $0.80 for the 3 CableCARDS in our old S3 OLED's, we were now being charged the digital outlet charge of $9.95 each that others had reported minus the $2.50 customer owned equipment discount for each. Note that we were an Adelphia franchise before Comcast purchased it which is probably relevant.

I took my last 2 bills to the local office to see if I could revert back which is where I found out about them being moved to the new billing system. They had someone there from another site apparently helping with the differences as he said "it's always been that charge for CableCARDS up north".

So since they couldn't help I went ahead and turned the 3 "spare" CableCARDS in. We actually hadn't been recording anything on the 2 S3 OLED's since moving to the Roamio last October and I had moved 1 of the CableCARDs from 1 S3 OLED to the Roamio so that one was reduced to a single active tuner. The only good news is that in removing those 3 CableCARDS from my account, they did *not* mess up the programming on the remaining one in the Roamio. Be thankful for small miracles. :)

Just a warning for any other Comcast users that see a similar change.

Scott

Plex audio dropoutson Mini

I just recently started experiencing some audio dropouts in Plex on my TiVo Mini. Playing the exact same content through my Roamio doesn't exhibit this issue. There doesn't appear to be any audio settings for Plex on either my Roamio or Mini, so I'm wondering if this could be related to a recent Plex update?

Anyone else seeing this?

Need help with bad drive.

My Premiere (lifetime) has a bad primary drive showing Fail 7 on every test. I also have a WD AV Expansion Drive attached and on the SMART test it passes everything.

I'm not too well versed on Tivo's so I have a couple questions:

1. Can I force the Tivo to only use the secondary drive to record?

2. Can I take apart the expansion housing and move the secondary drive into the Tivo box as the primary? If so, can someone direct me to the easiest way to accomplish this? I know I will lose everything but at this point almost every recording freezes anyway. I'm trying to avoid putting out any money so I don't want to purchase a new drive as I never go above 40% usage anyway.

Thanks for your help.

FS: Series 2 units - 1 PLS, 2 for parts

I have the following working Series 2 units:

TCD649080 (6C11) - No service, updated to current software
TCD649080 (0C0F) - No service, updated to current software
TCD24008A (0F06) - Lifetime, updated to current software

I've had all 3 connected in the last couple of days to make sure they were working and to update the software. One note - I'm considering selling the hard drives from the out-of-service 649080 units separately, in case someone has a lifetime unit with a bad hard drive.

Feel free to make offers. Shipping will be FedEx Ground unless you require something else.

M-card blues

(Posting here as it's not BOLT-specific, if there is a better spot or existing thread please point me to it.)

Having obtained a shiny new BOLT as part of my Series 1 compensation with relative ease, I've been trying to get Comcast to give me an M-card as a Limited Basic customer in an area where terrestrial TV signals are not all that great (might be doable with an attic-mount antenna, is my understanding).

So far, this is what has happened:

1. Called Comcast, get told that's doable, and that it will cost me $15 to get a package sent though the service is free (for a first outlet, yadda). Check that I can pick up the self-install kit (because I'm already into doing boat-anchor recordings on the S1), say I'll do that for speed, and thank them for their time.

2. Show up at my local Comcast Office. They won't give it to me because I'm a limited basic customer.

3. After some sort of issue with Comcast's phone system hanging up after the initial spiel, do an online chat and get told that yes, it's doable and should be just fine. I ask to have it shipped to me, and get told I must pick it up and there are notes in my account so that should go smoothly.

4. Being suspicious, try to raise ComcastCares on Twitter, to no reply.

5. Go to the office, wound up with the same person as last time, unfortunately. I get told the notes say I need Digital Starter despite this not being mentioned to me, so I again leave cardless.

6. Try to get ComcastCares's attention on Twitter again... no reply. (It feels like one must have a prerequisite level of anger to get a reply, perhaps.)

So, anyone out there have any advice on obtaining said M-card? Is it unlikely that I can get one? Some of the documents on Comcast's site, like http://ift.tt/2dWa91E as well as various forum posts make it sound as though I should be able to get one with Limited Basic.

Bolt height at high point

I am installing a component shelf and for possible future use I would like to know the height of the the Tivo Bolt at the top of the crook.

The Tivo specs only provide the height (1.8") at the left and right sides.

TIA for any / all replies.

Sound bar Problems

Does anyone else have problems when using a sound bar with a Tivo Premiere? My Vizio makes crackle/Popping sounds when fast forwarding through commercials using Dolby. I've had the Tivo since 2010 and would like to buy a New "Bolt" but I'm afraid this will happen with the Bolt also. Need any help would be appreciated.

Please drop IHeartRadio for Tunein Radio

Any service that doesn't include basic stations like WGBH is not useful. I've used Tunein radio on my firestick for years and love it. I gave up the firestick because I thought Tivo had become the totally integrated solution, but it's choice in partners leaves a bit to be desired.

Black Sails (Season 3 - all episodes)

I just finished season three (having saved them all up on TiVo, watched them over the course of two weeks more or less). Loved the character and plot progressions and thought this was one of the better seasons of the show, and I'm excited to see they're in production for season four.

Anyone else still on board with this show?

I didn't know anything about this, other than it's another lawyer takes on.. well Goliath. It is shot amazingly well, and Billy Bob Thorton is great as always.

Supporting cast: William Hurt, Maria Bello, Molly Parker good as well, their characters not that developed yet ( i'm only into episode 3)

8 episodes.

Anyone getting new movies in suggestions yet?

Ever since the Rovi transition, virtually no new movies have shown up in suggestions (actually, very little has shown up at all). I had previously thumb downed virtually everything except movies, and it used to record at least 2 or 3 new ones every day. I think maybe only one new movie has shown up since the change to new metadata. Does it just hate me, or is it not recording movies for anyone? (Not that it is very important, since I hardly ever watched any suggestions anyway, but I am curious :-).

Charter Cable and My Bolt install issues

Does anyone out there had issues with getting "Searching for a signal on this channel (V52) Press help" after they have set up their Mcard and tuning adapter? I have searched but have yet to find a Charter set up here with the same issues as me.

Ok here is all I have done. I took the RF coax cable from wall and plugged it into the "in" on the tuning adapter. I ran another cable from the "out" of the tuning adapter to the "in" on my Tivo Bolt. I then ran an HDMI cable from my Bolt to my TV. I never ran a USB between the 2 as I never saw that in any of the instructions I had (More on that later). I then proceeded to follow the on screen instructions all the way thru where I had to insert the Mcard and verified the Bolt could see it. It did and I also found where the Host and Data ID numbers were to give Charter cable for pairing. From that point on it seemed like I get to the part where I test for channels and although I see the info of the channel....there is no video or sound...just a grey screen.

After checking everything to make sure all was correctly wired. I tried the setup again and still the same. I did get further and went into watch TV mode but then all I got was the same V52 error I listed above.

After talking with a friend of mine who has charter and a similar set up as mine (he just has a Romio instead), he suggested I install a USB cable between the tuning adapter and the Bolt which what he noticed the cable installer did to his. So I head to Charter got the USB cable, of which she stated I needed to get the setup to work but never mentioned it when I got the adapter, and I plugged it in between the two. When I powered everything on this time, a message came up indicating that it found a tuning adapter and that I needed to run diagnostics now or I could run the later under the setting menu. I chose to run them and there was literally nothing to run. You go into the menu and select run diags and all you get is just info. I never saw anything stating pass or fail. so I got out tried the channel test (again got info on the channels I selected but no video. I also went back into "Watch TV mode and the same as above (V52 error on all channels.

Any ideas? Should I call Charter back to have them RE-pair it and do their thing they do on their end now that I installed the USB cable as maybe that's why nothing worked right the first time I chatted with them.

Thanks for any help
