I need other methods for transferring Tivo recordings

Other than Kmttg, is there any other software than can fully transfer TiVo recordings AND decrypt them for regular use? Its a long story, but I have been having issues with Kmttg so am looking for other methods.

I know there is TiVo Desktop, but the files are in .tivo format, right? Therefore, can't be played back (or converted) for use with a standard player. Or is there maybe a way to decrypt these files too?

Anyone have a remote code for the hisense tv?

Can't watch downloaded shows on IPad

I downloaded three shows to watch while traveling. All three appeared to download successfully.

However, at 4-8 minutes into each show, I get the following error, "Problem Playing Recording -- An unknown error occurred." I retry to watch and get about 3 seconds in and it fails again. I can move the slider across the entire show and can see that the entire show is there, but I can't actually watch it.

I checked and the shows on the TiVo box are intact and watchable.

I have 4 Premieres with the Stream device.

Any ideas?

Tivo Roamio OTA MoCA Setup

I need some assistance designing a MoCA network for a new Tivo Roamio OTA (TCD846000) and Mini (TCDA93000) setup. I'm currently with DirecTV which makes the setup a bit more difficult. My antenna is in my attic and I have runs to all but one TV, where my cable modem and router are. This is also where I want to place my Tivo Roamio OTA. In the garage, I have another run of coax just for DirecTV, where all three TVs have coax runs. I don't have Ethernet jacks where the two minis would go.

Short of drilling a hole in the garage (and risking hitting our bedroom) to try and run a cable through the attic to connect the two, this is the only design I could come up with and really hope it will work! From what I've read in other posts, as long as you are using MoCA splitters, the signals will travel in both direction, which is what I'm banking on!

In the diagram, the 8 port MoCA would be in the garage (where the current DirecTV connections are) and the 4 port non-MoCA would be in the attic connected to the antenna. I guess this could easily be a smaller splitter or even an f-type connector, too. I figured there is no need to have the MoCA network extend to the antenna.

I'm fairly confident the MoCA connections would work OK, but my concern is whether the OTA signal would reach the Tivo Roamio OTA. The 8 port MoCA splitter I'm looking at is the PCT * Port cable TV Splitter Signal Booster/Amplifier with Active Return Zero Signal Loss and Integrated MoCA Filter also a signal booster/amplifier, but am open to any suggestions on what has worked well! I'd post a link to it, but I don't have enough 'points'.

Really Confused??

I am trying to decide on a Roamio OTA 1TB but the literature is a little confusing as far as streaming out to other devices.

I know you can watch your recording on the TV the DVR is plugged into via HDMI but I also want to be able to watch the recording on other TV's in the house. I know you can get a TIVO Mini to do this but I am interested in watch on a Amazon Firestick.

On the product page it suggest that you have to buy a TIVO Stream box to be able to do this but when I called the support folks at TIVO they say that the Stream is built into the Roamio OTA. Which is it?


Trying to cut the cord from ATT Uverse but my wife watches her recordings from multiple rooms now. Spending $400 for the Roamio and $300 for 2 more Mini's is a little too much for me so the streaming to a firestick that I can also use for Kodi seems the way to go.

My PC shows on Tivo Desktop Plus not seen by Tivo Roamio

My Tivo Roamio HAD been able to 'see' my Tivo Desktop Plus (2.83 - ver 412370) to transfer TV programs back to Tivo to play. But now my Roamio no longer sees a Tivo Desktop PC name in the 'My Shows' menu. -- My PC is running on Windows 10.

But my Roamio CAN still see Music and Photos on my PC based Tivo Desktop app and I CAN see Tivo TV programs from the Tivo Desktop app and transfer shows TO my PC via Tivo Desktop.

I've reinstalled Tivo Desktop 2.83 successfully but nothing changed.

Any idea what's going on? :confused:

Weird Download Issue

I'm using cTiVo to download recordings from my Bolt to my Mac. Mostly, it has worked perfectly. One show won't download to completion. It doesn't give an error at all. It just says "complete," when it isn't. It stops at a different point (IOW, the file sizes are different) every time I try it.

Odd thing is, downloading it from the TiVo web interface works fine. Except, the file is encrypted.

a) Any kind of troubleshooting I can do to make it work with cTiVo?
b) Any way to get cTiVo to do its decryption magic on an already-downloaded file?
c) Barring that, easiest (free) way to decrypt an already-downloaded .tivo file on OS X in 2016 is?

Question about 5.1 audio with TiVo Bolt OTA

Hi again folks,

Another question from the newbie. ;-)

So I got the new Bolt, and now have it all set up. I'm very happy with it. Everything works as I had hoped. My question though is, is it possible to get 5.1 digital audio from the HD antenna?

Currently I have the antenna connected directly to the back of the Tivo box, and then an HDMI cable from the TiVo to my Sony AV surround unit. I get sound, but it's not 5.1. It's only coming in as 2 channel audio. I get 5.1 audio from the streaming services (Amazon, Netflx, etc), but not when watching live tv.

Is it even possible to get 5.1 audio from the antenna? If so, any instructions on how to change my set up would be greatly appreciated. :)

Fixing Premiere CAT connection

I have a premiere (with lifetime!) which got hit with a surge and lost its CAT5 connection. The wifi through usb still works so its usable at a diminished transfer capability. Just wondering if anyone has been able to repair the CAT5 board or whatever on this model that might be able to give advice.

Should I Install a new M-Card?

I had an issue when I got the Summer Update on my XL4. All 4 tuners would lock and a warm and/or cold reboot would fix it. However, this would fail again from 5 minutes to 6 hours! I got V53, and V58 Errors.

I called Frontier FIOS and they said they could re-activate my M-Card. I then did a soft reboot and it worked. However, we, of course, were not going to wait 6 hours on the phone to see how long it would be fixed. Because of this, he sent me out a new M-Card anyway to replace my old Motorola M-Card. The NEW card is an ARRIS M-Card, which is the new Motorola brand.

So, it has been 5 days now and all is OK on this old card. Should I install the new M-Card and get any new changes in the card if any, or keep what I have now that it seems to be working.

Some say if it ain't broke...and others say that it would be best to use this "latest" M-Card. Any advice?

Current Program Code

Is there any way to determine what the existing program code is in a remote? I want to move a remote to a different room/TV and all I remember is that it took me trying a large number of codes before I found the correct one.

FS: TiVo HD with Lifetime

I have a TiVo HD for sale with Lifetime Service. TiVo HD has been upgraded to 11.0n software so it can receive the MPEG-4 channels. Also, the HDD has been upgraded from 160 GB to 1TB for 157 HD / 1368 SD hours of recording. Comes in the original box with manual and remote. I will also include a TiVo Wireless-G adapter.

I've included a photo of the System Information screen for reference.

I don't know what the Series 3 goes for today, so I will entertain offers. Post any questions and PM any offers.

New to Tivo need help connecting 2 devices

Please excuse my ignorance on this but I have an OTA antenna and a pre amp running to the existing CATV splitter on the side of my house going to 4 tv's one of which has a Roamio OTA. Wife is asking to add a Mini to the master bedroom tv. Roamio is connected wireless to my internet. What are my options to accomplish this request?

Bolt and Network Switch

Hi there.

A nasty surge must have hit my networking equipment, as I recently had to replace my Router and 24 port Network Switch. I've replaced each with the EXACT SAME equipment:

Prior to the surge, my TiVo Bolt had NO problem whatsoever auto-negotiating with the network switch, as the link lights on the switch and at the TiVo Bolt were always lit with blinking goodness. However, since the surge and the subsequent replacement of Router/Network Switch, the Bolt will NOT connect when patched into a port on the Network Switch. It ONLY connects when plugged directly into the Router.

I'm not dead in the water, b/c obviously the Bolt has connectivity w/ the router when directly plugged in - but should I be worried that my new Network Switch is faulty?

Other Tidbits:
> All of my a/v equipment throughout the house are connected to surge protectors of some sort - so I didn't lose any TV's, A/V receivers, or other devices/clients as a whole.
> Both of my TiVo Mini's are fully connected when patched into the Network Switch. They work.
> My two Apple TV4's must have also gotten nailed by the surge, so their Ethernet ports won't work, but I'm using their Wi-Fi capability as a backup. I'll worry about that later. I also have an Apple TV 3 that didn't get nailed. Strange.
> My laptop has full connectivity w/ the Network Switch when connected at the same physical location as the TiVo Bolt (using the same network cabling), which is located inside a cabinet next to my fireplace.

Spotify app stops streaming about 30 seconds into a song

Does anyone else have an issue with the Spotify app starting to stream a song, but about 30 seconds into it the streaming stops. No errors, just total silence. On screen, the app appears as if it is still playing the music.

If I switch songs it will start playing the new song I select, but that song will also stop streaming about 30 seconds in.

For what it is worth, I'm using a paid Spotify account, Tivo is hardwired into a hub that is hardwired into a router that is hardwired into a cable modem with enough bandwidth to handle music streaming. Tivo is a Premiere base model.

Screen goes to black when FF

When I fast forward, my screen flashes to black. As if the screen resolution is changing. I have the two 4k modes selected in allowed screen settings and tried have only 1 enabled but it didn't fix the problem.

I doesn't seem to happen on every channel. I'm OTA, no cable card.

How to fix? Will call TIVO tonight...

TiVo Mini Without Service

My brother has a TiVo Mini and is moving to a new apartment where he's contemplating cutting the cord. The Mini is currently on my account, but we could put it on a new account if necessary. To my knowledge, he's not planning on buying a "standard" TiVo (I.e., Roamio, Bolt). If he doesn't connect the unit with access to a cable subscription, will he still have access to Netflix, Hulu, MLB.tv, etc.? Or does he need a full subscription with activated service to access these services?

(Sorry if this has been addressed previously, I didn't search for it because I'm a terrible person.)

Suggestions Weirdness

I live in central New Jersey so my cable provider carries both the New York and Philadelphia CBS, NBC and FOX network affiliates (not ABC, Go figure). I normally watch the NY channels because they are in HD.

Frequently, when I have a recording schedule on one of the NY stations, the same program on the Philadelphia channel will be recorded under Suggestions.

Why would TiVo suggest a program that is already being recorded?

trouble with kttmg and mac

I downloaded the latest version of kttmg in order to offload files from a Tivo that's behaving strangely.

Using a Roamio plus with 3TB HD connected to network via MoCa. The Roamio's hardwired to a Fios Quantum router as is the iMac I'm using. Running OS OSX10.11.5 on the iMac.

I set up kttmg to save to an attached hard drive. kttmg sees the Tivo and shows the list of programs -

I set up a test with 1 program including metadata - the metadata copied to the external hard drive but downloading the .tivo and mpg files failed. Got the following error message:

Bolt and Premiere in same room

I have a Bolt and a Premiere XL in the same room. I'm trying to program a Harmony One universal remote to control each one separately. Can't figure it out. Also, both peanut remotes control both Tivo's. I have changed the access codes but I'm not sure I did it correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Tivo Less Likely To Reboot When In Standby Mode During PC Transfer?

Since you can't always have all tuners on a channel you don't receive when transferring a recording, this makes it harder to guarantee a sudden reboot won't happen while transferring a recording via kmttg. I have been experimenting with putting the Tivo in standby mode while transferring recordings to prevent this from happening. I was wondering if anyone was able to find any success with this approach, or if it didn't really make a difference for them with regards to sudden reboots.

To give you some background I have a Tivo HD and it has only rebooted once while transferring a recording via PC at the same time another show was being recorded. The other unused tuner may have been tuned to a channel I receive. I'm not sure though since I wasn't at home at the time. From my experience, a reboot usually only happens for me when a show is being recorded at the same time though. These sudden reboots have also occurred when I was transferring a recording while several other shows were being recorded on my Tivo Premiere XL4 so it's not only prone to Tivo HDs. In order to circumvent this issue on my XL4, I usually only transfer when no other shows are being recorded. That approach does not work as well on the Tivo HD since the transfers are much slower thus it is more difficult to find time to transfer the recordings when no other shows are being recorded simultaneously. I also notice that the transfers are slower on standby while being tuned to channels not received than when the Tivo is merely tuned to channels I don't receive.

Time warner tech blames stations for 480i on Tivo but 1080i on HD box

Long, bizarre problem full of conflicting stories from Time Warner and technical improbabilities:

I'm a new Tivo user with a Roamio Pro who has basic familiarity with various cable tech issues.

I've had an issue the last few days and excuses/ proposed solutions that make no sense.

Everything was fine for a week until yesterday - one channel (FS2 ) was "not available" and 2 others (FS1 and NBCSN) were being received at 480i (the previous day they were at 1080i). Called Time Warner cablecard/Tivo support; they had me reset the Tivo to 1080i only (it already was) and had me attach the USB cable, which came with my card/adapter but was not noted in the instructions.

They reset things on their end, had me tune one channel above the missing one and then back - voila! The missing channel returned and all involved channels (FS1 &2, NBCSN)_ were in 1080i. But they set a tech appointment for noon today to verify the setup was OK.

Got 2 automated confirmation calls.

...fade to today. 2 pm, no tech. Called in,. told tech scheduled for 4-5pm. NOT happy. 4:30, tech shows; I explained the problem, solution and subsequent reoccurrence - he immediately said "it has nothing to do with us. The stations determine what the boxes receive".

Uhh - what? Me - "So the stations decide somehow that the cablecard/tuning adapter/Tivo will only receive 480i - today -- but receive 1080i on these channels yesterday at the same time it's sending 1080i to the HD boxes?"

More runaround and changing excuses, then he changed adapter and card, plugged it in and said "I'll be right back" - knocking MOST channels down to 480i and nuking FS2 again. Finally returned 15 minutes later (no idea where he went) and told "I've been doing this 16 years - it's a station problem.". He had no solution so he called a supervisor - who showed up, pushed one button on the front of the tuning adapter and FS2 was back...at 480i, FS1 at 720p, NBCSN at 1080i (and all at 1080i on HD boxes in other rooms).

So HE said "it's a Tivo problem - it's not "locking" onto the channels. I looked at the now grinning first tech and politely told him to leave.

The supervisor wouldn't budge - blamed Tivo, repeating it's a "locking" issue". Asked about the "station" problem the other tech swore was the problem and he said ""i'll talk to him".

Meanwhile - yesterday I had 3 specific channels at 1080i - now 1 at 1080i, one at 720p, one at 480i.

So who DO I contact - or can I fix this mess myself? Is Time Warner just trying to duck something that's their problem?

TiVo Bolt 1TB model number question?

Hello All,

I just purchased the 1TB Bolt from Amazon, but I have a question. The model I ordered is the TCD849000v2. But I'm not sure if what they sent was the right one. The bottom of the unit says TCD849000, there's no "v2" in the model number. I know there was a previous version of the bolt, so I'm wondering if they sent the wrong one?

Can some please clarify what is the newest model of the 1TB bolt?

After reading around the forums, I am considering getting the newer version. I will likely go to Best Buy and ask for the Amazon price match. Is there anything else that I should be considering? Of course, I might actually buy it from Amazon. I think I have some money sitting in my Amazon account.

Also, it looks like it uses a proprietary cable for component and composite. Do those cables come with or are they an optional extra?

There was an add for the bolt on Facebook that made it seem like it had a bunch of tv channel streaming apps (fox, amc, etc) in addition to Netflix/Hulu type apps. Has anyone else seen this, or know if more apps are coming. That would be great if I had some of the tv channel streaming apps on my bolt like on my Roku

Upgrade Premiere with Premiere XL Hard Drive

The hard drive on my Premiere (TCD746320) w/Lifetime seems to have died (it is stuck in a boot loop). My thought was to purchase a used Premiere on Craigslist for ~$30. One of the listings I've found is for a Premiere XL (TCD748000). Can I simply swap the XL hard drive into my regular Premiere TiVo, clear and delete, and have it back up and running?

My end goal is to flip my TiVo and upgrade to a newer model so I want to spend as little money as possible. I also liked the idea of getting a second Premiere for its spare power supply.

Pairing Mode

I want to use my Roamio remote with the Mini in my bedroom. I purchased a Slide Pro for the Roamio and would like to use the original Roamio remote with the Mini because of the button layout. How do I get the Mini into pairing mode? There is no section 5 under Remotes on the Mini so I can't do what all my searches tell me to do. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Premier Not Recording Shows -- Claims Duplicate

The past few days I've noticed that my Premier wasn't picking up several upcoming PBS shows--looking in the TDL it says they're not going to record because they're duplicates, but they're not. Then today I noticed that it wasn't recording Red Bull Signature Series--and it wasn't in the TDL at all from any view, nor in History. Going to the One Pass it listed the currently airing show as upcoming, and though I noted the guide info said the show first aired last August when it's actually new, I have the OP set for new and repeats. Just for fun I tried deleting the OP and creating a new one, and now the program appears in History as not recording because it is a duplicate.

The PBS shows not recording due to being duplicates also happen to be repeats, when the OP is set to record new and repeats. It's almost like something thinks repeats are duplicates.

Xfinity On-Demand (XOD) App is missing

I started getting V301 errors when trying to play XOD programs. I followed the TiVo troubleshooting by forcing a connection and rebooting twice. Now I am missing the XOD App. I spent all afternoon with Comcast support. Everything checked out on the cableCARD side. I called TiVo support and they said I have multiple menu items missing and escalated the issue.

1) Does this sound like the correct solution?

2) When can I expect this issue to be resolved?

A few months ago you could easily find the Mini2 (RF version) on Amazon for $112-$113 and refurbs for $89. Now nothing for under $138. What happened?

Deleting folder causes reboot

I have a Roamio Plus that just recently has begun exhibiting this behavior (though since last couple SW updates). When deleting a folder from my shows, the TiVo reboots. That's it. It may not happen every time but is fairly repeatable. It can be a folder of 2 shows or 20. While I haven't investigated fully, it seems it happens with folders of all recorded shows or all streaming or mixture.

Anyone else seen this?

Issue with Amazon Prime and My Shows

Strange thing happened this week with programs I had listed in My Shows that were coming from Amazon Prime. All of a sudden, they're showing as unavailable, plus some that I had already watch and deleted from the list showed up again. For example, I had a OnePass for Downton Abbey which all programs were watched and deleted from the list. Every single episode is there again and showing as unavailable, except oddly enough, the current season 6

Video Providers: Amazon Prime and You Tube only

If I go into the Amazon app from Tivo I can still stream the prime programs - the same ones that are showing as unavailable from My Shows.

As a test, I added the regular Amazon provider to the list, and all the programs are now available except I had to pay for them. I removed Amazon Prime and it stayed the same. I added back Amazon Prime and removed Amazon and I was back to the same situation.

As I noted, if I go into the Amazon app, I can stream Prime for free. The programs, for some reason, show as unavailable when selecting from My Shows, or even via search.

I did force a connection, even though one took place yesterday, and nothing changed.

Anyone else seeing this? I'm thinking there may be something up with the connection from Tivo to Prime.

TIVO Premiere XL4 - network issues?

We tried to watch a show on our Roamio from the XL4, which is in another room, but the "play" option had disappeared from the options when we went into the shows. There was a notation on the side that said that the show could not be played due to copyright issues. I've never seen this before. We tried to access the XL4 through a Mini, and had the same issue. I went to the XL4 unit, and the menu looked smaller than usual (It was missing the "music and photos" option, as well as the "apps and games" option). I was able to access the shows on the XL4 itself. I restarted the XL4, but it didn't improve the situation. I unplugged it, and plugged it back in to restart... but no improvement. Now the XL4 isn't even showing up as an option on the Roamio. Any ideas what could cause this? The network appears to be working fine between the Roamio and the Minis.

Sub Account Availability ?

Hello,
I sent a message to support on availability of 'Sub Accounts'. Was looking for a way to give kids remote access to record/view while away at school. Local cable provider allows this. Was instructed to submit enhancement. Does anyone know if this is actually available, and i missed it ? Would rather not give user/pwd (with billing, etc information), but just an account so they can
watch remotely.

Pulling videos into folders with PyTivo

Hi

I have various videos that I've historically kept in a "Videos" folder on my Tivo. I've usually pushed them from PyTivo, which works very well.

I've recently upgraded to a Bolt and can't stream these movies from the Tivo to my android/iOS devices because the Tivo flags pushed videos as copy-once downloads.

The reference materials for PyTivo say that only shows with a program ID matching something in the current guide can be pulled to the Tivo into a folder.

But I seem to remember someone coming up with a workaround for this, either by figuring out some kind of generic movie identifier that the Tivo recognized or some sort of trick where you push the first movie and then subsequent pulls show up in a folder.

Can anyone refer me to a solution or workaround for this issue?

Well the tivo servers are down this morning. No network connections, no search capability, no video push etc.

Hope this is short lived. Tivo really needs a network status page on tivo.com. Should be on the support page.

I'm trying to connect to Tivo Service and getting a 'Failed while Negotiating' message. Just wondering if it's happening to anyone else out there.

Anyone watching? I watched the first episode last night, and was impressed.

Thirteen is a BBC mini-series (fictional). Already aired over there. On BBCA here in the US. Five episodes, one season only. It's about a 13 yr old girl who was abducted in 2003, and never heard from again. In 2016, she escapes.

closed captioning for the blind?

Just sent this to Starz:

I have difficulty hearing, and appreciate your closed captioning. However, the captions on some of your programs seem to be for the blind, not the deaf - and they're incredibly annoying. Example: The Girlfriend Experience episode 13 contains multiple captions beginning with "The sound of" - including "high heels on marble floor," "muffled footsteps on carpeting in hallway," "setting down glass," "kissing," etc etc. Those of us who cannot hear well can certainly SEE that these activities are going on - we don't need the captioned explanations, which just make the program more difficult to watch. PLEASE stop doing that!

Roamio Plus stuck on welcome screen

Within the last two weeks or so, we've noticed pixelating and stuttering when watching recorded shows. This evening, I rebooted the Roamio and then the screen stuck on the Almost There screen.

I have a Roamio Plus bought just over a year ago with a 3TB HD and 2 Minis. The Roamio is running the 20.6.1.RC14-USA-6-848 software. I've read a few threads here - the SNR has been at 41dB.

We've also noticed some error messages on the Mini indicating that it couldn't connect via the MoCa connection with the Roamio. The MoCa connection is thru a VZ Quantum router which I rebooted (that's when the Roamio began to get stuck on the Almost There screen).

If it is a HD issue, how can I download all the shows I have on the existing drive?

Very new Roamio Pro user with Tivo Mini question

Tivo Newbie here (but with decent computer and A/V experience) that's permanently disabled and trying to cut costs on a Time Warner system.

I lucked into an open-box Roamio Pro recently for an embarrassingly low price, which was both very lucky and a Godsend. Thet RP eliminated my Time Warner DVR.

My question - I had Time Warner's "whole house" DVR service, and it's priced ridiculously high - so now I have a better DVR for less money - but no service in other rooms. I really need it in 2 other rooms and have been researching used Tivo Minis.

I've been looking at the Mini's on eBay and Amazon (and understand the IR vs RF remote difference) and looked at dozens of sites, but I'm still confused:

If I buy a used Tivo mini (with IR or RF remote - not a big deal for me):


1. How do I activate it, and is there a monthly charge (read all sorts of conflicting info)?
2. Does the previous owner need to "release" it, aka "get a ticket number" for me (I'm concerned about buying something that turns out to be a brick and this is another subject that is very baffling).
3. Do I still need a cable box with each Mini...or a Cable Card/Tuning Adapter like I have for the Roamio Pro...or will each one simply use one of the Pro's 6 tuners? (again, I've read conflicting/confusing info).
4. The whole house is wired with interconnected Coax in each room, and the RP is on an ethernet connection along with the cable from the tuning adapter. Can I simply use splitters and hook the Minis up via Coax?
4a. Or - I have a "slave" router for better wireless connection at the back of the house using a different network name - can I plug an ethernet cable into that and 2 minis (TV's are on opposite sides of an adjoining wall)?
5. An afterthought - is there a huge technical difference between the IR and RF models other than the remote?

If I can eliminate the two additional HD boxes in addition to the DVR it'll save me a ton of money over short period of time, which I REALLY need (Disability income and high medical expenses just wreck my budget) - but TV and playing a little guitar are the only things I can do, so it's really important to have the TV rigged where I can access recordings from other rooms AND reduce monthly costs as much as possible. And cost reduction is why I'm looking at used ones - full retail is tough to handle.

Sorry for the multiple questions, and I really appreciate any help/advice in advance. The Roamio Pro is the best thing I've bought in years, and I'm really hoping I can afford to expand the system (and cut costs as well).

The code is JUN2016 if you are interested. It didn't say how long it would last. This is the first discount I've seen since the price drop to $199 without the free 1st year. I wonder if better deals are coming soon?

Bolt not outputting video or audio

Some kind of upgrade happened yesterday I think. My mom was at home and saw a message stating it had to restart, restarted and nothing coming out.

It powers on, records, even streams to 2 TiVo minis, but will not send video to the TV it is connected to. Any clues?

Series 3 fails to recognize WD20EZRZ - stuck with all lights on

I'm running into nothing but trouble upgrading my series 3 (premiere xl4 upgraded to 6TB without issue using WD60EZRZ).

My current issue is that the tivo fails to startup, all the lights stay on (indicating that the hard drive isn't recognized?). I can use the original drive or the dual 1TB WD10EURX setup without a problem, so it's not the power supply.

I've tried copying the original and the dual (not saving recordings), but I don't think the tivo is getting far enough to even boot from the drive. I've tried two different WD20EZRZ drives.

The drive does appear to spin up, but I can't eliminate the possibility that the drive doesn't have PUIS set. I've attempted to use the UBCD in vmware fusion to run 'HDAT2 /W', but I can't seem to get it to recognize the drive in the USB dock (tried loading all drivers, SCSI, USB, and none). I'm not sure if the issue is with fusion or the guest OS. The MFS VM has no issues with accessing the docked drives.

I had previously been successful upgrading from the original drive to a WD20EURX only to run into issues updating the channel lineup and eventually finding out the drive had a ton of bad sectors so I decided to try the newer blue line replacement (same one I used in the premiere just 2TB vs 6TB).

Is there any other way to determine the PUIS status of the drive on a Macbook or any way to configure HDAT2 running in fusion to recognize the USB controller properly?

Any other ideas as to what could be the problem?

Poor Glenn. Sucks that they cast only a single older person, and they are gone right from the start, not even because he got voted out. That did seem like a really close ending.

I am very glad to see that Nicole made it to HoH and Jozea is the target. I'd rather has seen her not put up Paulie, but we'll just have to see how that one plays out. Especially with what sounds like a new type of competition coming up.

WTB: Series 3 or Premiere era Glo Remote

Seeking a new remote to replace it our dying S3 era Glo Remote. Needs to be learning since our TV doesn't work from the lists on the Premiere, so no standard stock ones will do.

Is M-Card error 161-17 ever a Tivo Issue?

I am now getting locked tuners and errors. Twice I got Cable Card Error 161-17 and it said to call my provider. I have been also getting all 4 tuners to freeze, but recorded shows, when they were not frozen, are still good. The 4 tuner freeze gets cleared if I restart or reboot or power down, but is only fixed for anywhere from 5 minutes or 6 or 7 hours and then freezes again.

Frontier is sending me a new M-Card, but I wonder if this could be a TIVO issue or is it almost certainly a M-Card issue?

What's going on with HD recordings?

My Premiere XL4 used to record HD programs at about 1.5 Gb for a 30 minute program. Now, sometimes it will record it at approximately 90Mb per 30 minute program. My Tivo shows the program is an HD program, and it looks HD when played back. Under Info it shows the new, smaller "space used" of 0.87Gb.

The main problem with this is if I download a program to my computer hard drive I cannot watch it with Windows Media Player as I could with the original, larger format. WMP only plays the audio of these new, smaller recordings.

Is there a setting to insure I'm recording at the larger, full HD format?

No Signal

I recently moved and went to setup my Mini in our master bedroom. I plugged it in and saw the Tivo man, then shortly after that the screen goes to a moving "no signal!" all over the screen. Won't take me to any other screens but this. Just wondering if anyone knows why this is and/or where I could start trying to figure it out. It worked perfectly a week ago before we moved and now nothing. Thanks for any and all help.

Setting up MoCa network with Mini and Home Theatre Receiver

I am in the process of building out my tivo home and I'm not sure how I should connect my Tivo Bolt to be my MoCa bridge, and have my router connected? Ultimately, I'm going to have my Tivo hooked up to a home theatre receiver so I drew out a map of how to connect everything. Could someone please take a look at the two maps, and let me know which one is correct, if any?

Want to record two copies of the same show

Can someone please tell me the best way to accomplish this--

I'd like to record two copies of new episodes of a particular show.

I will be travelling a bit this summer and want to download a bunch of shows onto my ipad. My cableco (Optimum) marks almost all channels as copy-once, so I need to side-load them onto the Ipad (which deletes the original copy off of the Tivo Bolt). Since I would like the option of viewing the show on the TV (and since occasionally the downloaded show gets corrupted and can't be watched on the iPad), if I can record two copies of the show (most of the cablenets have multiple showings of each episode), I can sideload one to the ipad while keeping one on the Tivo.

I have a Season pass set up for the show to record new episodes. I can always manually search for upcoming episodes and record a second copy of shows that are already on my tivo. However, if I manually search for an episode that hasn't aired yet (and hence is not already on my Tivo) and try to select a second showing to record, the Season Pass will not record both copies, only the second showing.

Is there some better way with a combination of Season Pass and Wish Lists to automatically do what i want?

Best capture devices to record from Tivo?

I'm new to the forum and have been a diehard Tivo user since '98. I currently have a Tivo Roamio and a Tivo Mini which I love. I already transfer unprotected programs to my PC to save and realize there is no way to take the protected ones, hence this post.

I've got a splitter that removes HDCP but would like to know which capture devices people here recommend to capture video with.

Before I get comments about copyright infringement, the shows I'm trying to capture are movies I already own on DVD. Here's the backstory for those who care to listen:

I setup a Plex server to make watching my Blu-Ray and DVD shows easy to watch on my Tivos. Unfortunately, there are some movies that have never been released on Blu Ray. I own Mr. Mom which is only available on Full Screen DVD and looks terrible when I watch it via Plex. However, I've got a HD copy I've recorded on my Tivo that looks amazing. I'd like to dump the HD stream to my Plex server so I can then watch it in widescreen HD as it should be viewed. Again, I own the movie so I'm not breaking any copyrights.

The models I've been thinking of getting are the Elgato HD 60 Pro, the Elgato HD 60 S, and the Hauppauge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any Given Wednesday - Bill Simmons new HBO show (spoilers?) )

Maybe I'm the wrong person to have started this thread, but I absolutely HATED most of this show. The Barkley interview was good, but the rest just seemed like a guy rambling on about topics he likes. Maybe it works in a blog but on TV it was just REALLY boring. Afleck and him going on and on about deflate-gate was so painful to watch (to anyone outside of Boston I assume). It was also another show where the host, realizing he can now curse on TV, used to to excess. And maybe because I'm not a basketball fan so I hated all the NBA stuff (except Barkley who I find amusing).

I'll give it another couple of episodes to see if it finds its footing, but knowing what Simmons became after he moved to Hollywood, I'm not hopeful.

OTA - huge spike in ISP data usage

Set up Roamio OTA and two Minis at start of this month. Checked my ISP (Comcast) Data Usage and find I have consumed 300gb in 20 days - compared to average of 3gb per month before Roamio.

We are connected to Netflix, Amazon and Youtube but not watching more than total of 3 hrs per day for all 3 TVs.

Is this jump in data usage the norm for Roamio? Any settings or other ways to reduce this so I don't have problems with ISP/Comcast?

Missing images WTWN?

I have the latest update, but it seems there's an odd bug or problem.

When I use What to Watch Now, I used to see small images like icons for the popular programs, sports, movies, etc. When you highlight an image now, you get the textual information but no images. Instead, there's an icon with text title and some blue background.

Anybody else seeing this effect?

Amazon on Roamio keeps freezong

I used to get this issue a while back and gave up using Amazon on Roamio. Tried again recently and still have the issue.

I have a bolt (no issue), 2 minis (no issue) and a Roamio (freezes).

Once it starts to freeze it seems to continue freezing every 5 minutes or so. Tonight I watched a movie with no issues for about an hour, then paused it for a while, then came back to it and it froze about every 4 minutes.

This is not a bandwidth/network connection issue since all my Tivos are on the same (wired) connection and all other Tivos and even other apps on the Roamio work flawlessly.

Only Amazon on the Roamio is borked.

Anyone else have issues or thouhts?

Quickmode from Permiere

So I just discovered quickmode works on my TiVo mini which is connected to a premiere XL. Yet quickmode won't work from the premier directly. Has anyone else seen this?

Comcast & Viceland

I noticed a weird thing today. I have Comcast cable and a TiVo Roamio.
Viceland HD was channel 876 and the guide shows the shows coming etc.... It has been working fine until today. 876 now says channel not available.
I looked online and now see channel 896 as Viceland for Comcast and sure enough I see it as an available channel and it is the HD feed for it and it works. The problem is the guide data for it doesn't show up. Also channel name shows as viceh_viceland_hd where 876 shows it as Vicehd.

No idea what is going on but none of my seasons passes will work now. Is this a TiVo issue or a Comcast issue or both? Who do I contact?

TiVo Bolt MoCA setup, newbie....

Hey guys, sorry, I am sort of a newbie when it comes to MoCA, and this is my very first TiVo.

I tried doing some searches on the forum but I was not able to find what I needed. I hope someone can help me out here.
I am trying to set up a MoCA network with an indoor OTA HD antenna and a Mini with Charter cable internet. My router is upstairs and my house is fully wired with Coaxial cable (built in 2001) by the home builder.
Here are the components that I have purchased to far, a 5-2050MHz splitter, 70bB POE filter, and a few Rj6 Coaxial cables.
My Bolt is currently hooked up via ethernet to a Linksys MaxStream RE7000-AC1900 Wall Plug In Range Extender with MU-MIMO.

Where should I install the 70db POE filter exactly? I think I have to install it on the cable line coming into the house from the street in the box outside my garage.

Can I have my indoor OTA antenna plugged into the Bolt with the 5-2050MHz splitter with the other line plugged into the wall coaxial socket?

In my mind, I think I am missing something here, but I can't figure it out.

Need Advice on Bolt with Charter Cable

Hi all, I need some help. I have been living on the side of a mountain for the last 2 years with no Internet (accept my phone). I am now back in the land of the living and in Charter Cable territory. I don't currently have TV or WiFI and was thinking about just stopping by the Charter office to see if I could sign up and get what I need.

I'm clueless as to technology over the past couple years (and I used to be right on it). I already have a Bolt in my hand that I ordered. What specifically do I need to get now or what specifically do I need to ask Charter for? I have read conflicting posts regarding a TA or now one doesn't have to use a TA etc.

I am on limited data with my phone and it gets tedious only being able to do research on a little screen. But...I need to get this Bolt up and going soon because my husband AND I are dying for some TV. Right now we've been about 2 weeks with nothing.

So can you all help me out? Thank you.

Not getting lineup for some channels

Hey, gang, I've had TiVo for many, many years now (decades, actually :>) and never had any major problems. Lately, however, I'm having one I just can't solve: for some reason, without the channels changing, I suddenly don't get the lineup for two or three of the channels.

The channels come in just fine (so they are the right channels) and TiVo "knows" what channels they are (it identifies them correctly in the Channel list, like SyFy HD) it just doesn't get the schedule when it downloads the schedules for everything else. As a result I can't schedule any recordings for anything (well, I could do it manually but that's a PITA and hardly why I have TiVo in the first place).

Any ideas on how to fix? I've already gone through the setup again, and it *does* know the right channels, so I'm not really sure what can be done but I thought I'd ask. (I could try my cable provider but they are pretty clueless and I'm SURE they'll say it's a TiVo issue. Which it probably is, at least to the degree the cable company won't do anything to solve it).

why would shows delete with 70% space

i'm 70% full and virtually nothing set to record as its summer and i only use OTA so not much there to record anyway.

i do notice that there are things in the now playing list that have that icon as if i guess they can be streamed or downloaded? but they dont take any room do they?

i'm aware if theres X set to record and it will go near 100 percent it will delete some stuff but that definitely didnt happen here

only thing i can think of is i was using pytivo to upload a movie that was 3 gigs and maybe somehow it thought it had to clear out space for that ? i cannot think of anything 'different' i've done recently. actually i started 2 copies of that movie, was having problems uploading.

remote trouble

I have a TiVo Premier, and my remote fast forward button also changes my TV input every time I press it, also the skip forward button changes the TV resolution. I have tried to reprogram the remote to my TV with different codes, and reset the remote but nothing seems to work it even does this when not programmed to the TV.

Has anyone else noticed the program guide art is now generic? Is this part of the guide data conversion?

Bolt OOH iPhone w/ HDMI

On my first trip since Bolt got OOH streaming and wanted to share this info. Tried airplay through an AppleTV in my hotel room, quality wasn't that great. But I remembered I had an Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter, so I tried that. Fantastic! I highly recommend one for Bolt owning travelers.

Just plug the power and HDMI to the adapter, HDMI to TV, then last plug the lightning into the iPhone. Then launch TiVo app. Video on hotel TV really looks good that way.

Note that the HDMI adapter seemed to be marketed by Apple for the iPad. But I can confirm it works on iPhone, too. Plus, using an iPad, you don't get full screen HDMI due to the aspect ratio on the iPad display. Using an iPhone with the adapter gives you full screen HD.

Plus the adapter is a whole lot smaller to take on trips than an AppleTV is...

Person of Interest - S05E13 - “Return 0’ - 06/21/2016

It is with a sense of sadness that I approach the final episode of this wonderful, thoughtful series.
Part of me wanted to put it off but the other part wanted to see what happened.

We open on the Ice-9 virus reeking havoc across cyberspace and we hear the same speech that the Machine gave in the Season Premier.
We catch up to Harold, seemingly dead tired on the roof of a building, discussing life and death with the Machine.

We see Shaw at Root’s grave and she realizes that Root’s body was stolen.
The Machine starts communicating with Shaw and explains that Decima stole Root’s body for her cochlear implant to track the Machine and the Team.
In the throes of death, Samaritan wants to take out Team Machine and it’s time to rally the troops.

While we flash back to a memory of Harold explaining to Grace abut how his father learned about birds to calm him down, Reese and Fusco are captured by Samaritan duped police who have finally realized that “Detective Riley” is “the Man in the Suit”.

While being transported to jail, Samaritan paid goons set up to execute Fusco and Reese but they are saved by the timely intervention of Harold and a Thornhill sniper.

Our heroes reconvene at the Subway station and Shaw lays out the plan, Reese and Finch will break into the Federal Reserve to destroy Samaritan’s last backup copy server farm while Shaw and Fusco defend the Machine from the inevitable Decima goons.

Finch gets them into the reserve by telling the guard that he has a briefcase nuke.
Reese and Finch get to the server farm but Decima goons are hot on their tail and Finch takes a bullet while Reese fends them off.

Finch manages to infect the final Samaritan copy but it manages to get one copy out, set to upload to a satellite and out of reach of Team Machine.
The solution is for someone to go to a rooftop and use the antenna to upload the last copy of the Machine’s core code to the satellite but since Samaritan has launched a Cruise missile at that rooftop, it will be a suicide mission for whoever goes there.
Harold decides it will be him and locks John in the vault while giving him a very touching goodbye.

In the meantime, a Decima squad led by Jeff Blackwell attacks the subway station but Shaw and Fusco manage to escape by blowing a hole in the wall and riding the Machine driven subway car out.
Blackwell manages to get on before they get away and nicks Shaw with a shot

Fusco knocks him down and captures him. Going through his things, Shaw realizes that Blackwell is the one who killed Root.
The Machine orders Shaw and Fusco off of the subway car to save their lives but Blackwell stabs Fusco and manages to escape.

Harold is waiting o the rooftop for the satellite to get into range and is talking to the Machine (now visualized by Amy Acker) about life and death and the Machine explains that it learned that everyone dies alone. But if you mean something to someone, if you help someone, or love someone, if even a single person remembers you, then maybe you never really die at all.

Finch realizes that something is amiss. He’s on the wrong rooftop because the Machine deliberately sent him there.
Reese is on the right rooftop because he had a deal with the Machine that he’d take the bullet for his dear friend Harold as his way of paying Harold back for everything.
Reese uploads the Machine’s code and dies while fighting off Decima goons and then the missile hits.
(Noooooooooooooooooo! Not Reese!)

The Machine battles Samaritan in the satellite and destroys it while it triggers the tape recorder of it’s speech in the Subway hideout.

We then see Jeff Blackwell trying to escape the city but Shaw has tracked him down and kills him in revenge.

We catch up with a recovering Fusco and Bear a little while later with Shaw meeting up with him to get Bear.
Harold has tracked down Grace and we see a duplicate version of the Machine coming on line (was this Root's enhancement?) and “listening” the audio recording the Machine made.

As Shaw walks down the street with Bear, a pay phone rings and she answers it.


A very fitting end to a marvelous and highly underrated series.
Everyone had their moment and a touching goodbye scene, even Shaw saying goodbye to Root.
I also liked the description of Shaw as a straight line.

I’m going to miss this show.

SNR Levels

After working fine for five weeks, my Bolt stopped receiving any channels.

I tried everything, including running a new coax line, getting a new CableCard, etc.

Still no luck.

TiVo said my SNR levels are too low. QAM 64 they are between 9-15, and for QAM 256 they are about 19-22. At least according to what Bolt diagnostics say.

I had a Verizon technician come over and check everything. According to them, everything is fine. They put in a Verizon box and the channels came in fine. They showed me the SNR as per VZ box reading, and they were 40-41.

What do I do? My Bolt is beyond the return period on Best Buy. Is it a bad Bolt? Do I scrap Tivo altogether and go with Verizon boxes?

My initial impressions

I'm one of those guys who got forced to upgrade from my Original Series 3 due to the Comcast MPEG-4 issue. I've been running the Roamio for a bit and I've made a couple observations, still getting used to the new interface.

I've never had Comcast on-demand before, except on my iPad. I've watched shows by either watching on the iPad, but generally I like the bigger screen so I will cast them to my Apple TV. What I don't understand is on my iPad in the TV to go app, watching some movies is free, like Pirates of the Carribean but if I look on the on-demand menu on the TiVo, it's $3.99. What the hell?

I appreciate having 4 tuners instead of 2, but as I hit the Livetv button and flip through them, is there an easy way to tell what is recording? I miss the front panel readout. Ok figured it out, have to hit the info button...

Grrr, I miss my Series 3 a little.

Pixelated HD Content?

I've posted this on the weaKnees support forum and thought I'd post it here to see other opinions...

In 2013 I purchased a Roamio Pro from weaKnees upgraded to 4TB. I can't say whether it's exhibited this behavior since new, but it seems to "pixelate" recorded HD content. I have tested the following:

Recorded HD TV programming (Bachelorette): Pixelates
Recorded HD HBO series (Game of Thrones): Pixelates
Recorded HD Movie (Spy, recorded via HBO): Pixelates
Recorded SD Movie (Road House, recorded via HBO): Does not pixelate
Streamed HD Movie (Amazon): Does not pixelate
BluRay Disc: Does not pixelate

The more intense the on screen "action" the worse the pixelation is. For example, Transformers recorded via HBO was almost unwatchable during intense actions scenes, where the slower scenes were ok.

Would I be on base to suspect that the culprit is the hard drives not being fast enough to supply the needed data for intense HD scene display? If it was a memory or other Roamio electronics issue I would think I would see the pixelation in streamed content, and that doesn't seem to be happening.

HBO2Go stopped workign on my premiere

HBO2Go was working fine, until 2 weeks ago. Now I can't get it to activate. Using my daughters college HBo2Go account. Can log on fine, HBO2GO website activates fine, but Tivo reports "cant log in at this time try again later" (similar to that message). All other devices (PCs iPad) work fine. Tried restarting Tivo, that was their only suggestion in their help. Anyone else have this behavior?

Overlap protection - option to clip at hour mark if overlapping shows are padded

We extend certain shows (up to 5 min) because some tend to run over the allotted time. Since we also have overlap protection set to clip lower priority shows (instead of not recording them), when we have a lot of shows recording (using all tuners) in consecutive hours, this sometimes results in the 1st 5 minutes of a show being clipped because it happens to be lower priority than the previous show (which was extended 5 min).

I think it would be useful to have a 3rd option for overlap protection that would clip right at the hour mark (ignoring user-specified padding). Then we wouldn't have to think about show priority as much, which I really don't like to think about. I'd rather it just clip at the hour mark to get the most of both shows, ignoring user-specified padding. But if there's no reason to clip, the padding will still be there.

Showtime on Amazon Prime

So Amazon Prime offers an additional subscription to access all of Showtime for an extra monthly fee. Does anyone know if I subscribe to this, will the Showtime shows show up in the Tivo guide as being available through Amazon Prime?

Connect Roamio OTA and Mini via MoCA

It appears I could use the TiVo bridge device or equivalent between the Roamio and the Mini to get connected. I am not satisfied with the powerline adapter that I am now using.

I have an antenna in the attic that currently feeds the Roamio and another TV. I use a Channel Master CM-3414 4-port distribution amplifier to get a clean OTA TV signal to the TVs and the Tivo. I have heard others ask this same question, but have not seen a definitive answer. Will the Channel Master pass the MoCA signals both ways if I bridge the Roamio and use the RG-6 running into the distribution amp to send the MoCA signal to the Mini?

The specs for the 3414 say: 54-1002 Mhz Passive Return Forward Frequency Range, and a return path range of 5-42 Mhz and that it offers a return path for cable modem applications.

If someone has had either success or failure with this device, please provide the details. I want MoCA to work, but I also need to maintain a good OTA signal as well. Thanks in advance.

Can't watch shows at online.tivo.com

I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious but I can't figure out for the life of me how to watch shows that I've recorded through online.tivo.com. I'm using a Tivo Roamio Pro and have it setup to stream to the iPhone and iPad apps with no problem. But when I view the shows on online.tivo.com I don't see any sort of "play" or "watch" button.

Is there a reason I'd be able to watch on the apps but not through a browser? If it seems like I'm missing something that should be easy, maybe someone could take a screenshot of where the play button is?

Roamio Daily REboots

Sometimes twice or three times a day.

I did a search, but couldn't find any threads about this issue. Maybe the search term "roamio rebooting" isn't correct?

At any rate, I've been over it with customer service as this was an issue early on, but went away for about a year, other than an occasional reboot, which can happen for many reasons, one of which was that I had accidentally plugged the thing into the "power conditioner" side of the UPS rather than the battery backup side...duh.

I am a cord-cutter and use it strictly for OTA.

I tried direct connection to the modem, made sure the signal is as strong as can be, and all the other suggestions put forth by customer service, which by the way, is very good. One guy was on the phone with me for over an hour jiggling several settings, etc.

I think at this point I'm looking at a failing hard drive. Anyone else experience this?

Amazon app crashing

The last couple of times I've tried to watch an Amazon movie, I've gotten a low bandwidth message and whether I click yes or no, the screen blanks and the only way I can get the TiVo to work is by power cycling. Bandwidth is fine, other apps streaming just fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions?

Roamio OTA - Tuner Failing

Tonight my OTA tuner can no longer tune my local nbc and cw affiliate. I have rescanned channels twice and it still doesn't tune all of my local channels that it has been tuning successfully for the past six months.

I moved the antenna cable to the tv and all of my channels are coming in fine. I have a decent 75 mile arial antenna on my roof and only live 30-40 miles from the transmitters on a local mountain. My in laws 40 miles further away are able to get the channels I stopped recieving.

Guess I will give Tivo a call in the morning for a refurb under warranty.

My Shows - streaming

I've never used My Shows for anything but recordings, but I tried adding Comedians in Cars, figured that might be easier to navigate than the unusable Crackle interface. Got (sorta) excited when it worked, all seasons appear. But then I discovered that everything says Not Currently Available. Must be missing something, what's the advantage of adding this to My Shows?

Questions regarding overall tivo setup/investment

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the Tivo universe and I have a few questions.

Here's my goal: get OTA TV and DVR service to 1 family room tv and 1 master bedroom TV.

Questions:
1. Two rooms:
Tivo Roamio OTA w/lifetime service + Tivo Mini= $538
OR
Tivo Roamio without lifetime service + Tivo Mini = $208

That means $538 - $208 = a $330 price difference which would take about ~27 months to amortize.

Is this worth it? I've also been reading about the whole ATSC 3.0 (although I'm skeptical about it rolling out any time soon) and I'm thinking what if I need to change the hardware sooner than 2 years? Then I'm not getting much of a deal. So, is the bundled lifetime thing worth it at this point?

2. If I get a Tivo Bolt, can it stream my recorded shows or live tv to my second tv without a tivo mini?

3. This is slightly tougher one. I live in between two big broadcasting areas (San Francisco and Sacramento). I get all my stations right now from Sacramento BUT I would really really like to get the news from the local KOFY San Francisco station. I only want their 9pm news broadcast. Any thoughts?

None of my minis will tune in channel that comes in fine on roamio

So, this morning i noticed that i can't tune in to chanel 1915 on my mini. When i tune to it i just get a black screen. If i change away from it and back to it i get a black screen with the blue spinning circle and the mini is locked up and completely unresponsive until I either unplug power or the coax until it says it's lost connection. This happens on all 3 of my minis. The channel tunes in fine on the roamio. I've restarted the minis and the roamio, but the issue persists. Any insights or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Netflix missing images

Just got Netflix. When running the Netflix app I noticed about half of the show images are missing. The text is there but the space where the show image should be is just a lighter grey.

Tried wireless and wired connections on a 50mbps internet connections; seems not to have any effect.

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyway to download a new copy of the Netflix app?

Tivo Recording Every Show In Series

I have don't nothing special, yet my Tivo at times decides that it will record every show in a tv series. I end up with over 30 shows in a folder. I haven't set up season pass or anything like that. Why is this happening? I only want the shows that I select to record, not what Tivo decides I want.

S3 OLED power suppy rebuild

Anybody know of a reasonable and reliable service to replace caps on old S3 OLED power supplies? I've decided to gift the three S3s I have but the caps on two are bulging and one power supply no longer works. I'd rather not have my gifts turn into support nightmares so would prefer to get them fixed before setting them up for people.

For those who missed the "First Look" preview last week, now you know why the premiere was postponed. Situations in this ep were eerily similar to real life events.

I haven't checked to see if anything was actually edited compared to First Look.

There are a lot of changes this season. Sorry to see that some of the characters won't be returning. But, the series has lost none of its edge or pace. I'm eager to see where they go from here.

I really thought we'd have at least one more casualty on our side though. I really thought Tormund was toast a minute.

Grey Worm slicing their throats in one swoop was so badass. And was it just me or was Yara totally hitting on Dani? Heeeeee!

Also Davos is going to have her ass hung.

More as I think. I'm just too shocked and awed that this was a good episode. That makes me really fear for the finale!!!

HI - I've had my Roamio for a couple of months now - couple of weird things happening.

1) When a series is available on multiple streaming services on Watch Now - is there any way to have it default to the service I subscribe to (so I don't have to select down the menu every time). Hulu is at the top of every list, but I don't have Hulu - I have Amazon Prime. I -think- that it used to remember which service I used before - but it doesn't do so recently. So I if just hit OK quickly, it takes me to a Hulu signup page :-{.

2) Once, when watching a episode of a series in Amazon Prime, I turned on CC. Then after a while I turned it off. Now, whenever I watch a new episode of this series, CC is ON, and I have to turn it off manually, every time I watch an episode!

3) Usually, when I go to watch the next episode of a series (Netflix or Amazon Prime), the menu is teed up to the next episode. but once in a while it resets to S1E1. Any idea why?

Blue Colored Folder In Tivo Menu

Several of my folders are now colored blue. How do I turn them back into standard colored Tivo folders?

can't transfer from Premier XL to Roamio Pro any more; error message makes no sense

Just a month or two ago, I transferred a couple recordings from my Premier XL to my Roamio Pro, by going to the Premier XL entry in My Shows on my Roamio Pro.

Today I tried to do the same, and it shows a red X next to Roamio Prio, and when I click on it, it gives a message "V120" which claims I can only transfer from Series 4 and above. It tells me to go to tivo.com/help/V120 which just repeats the same nonsensical message.

But right below my Premier XL on My Shows list is my Series 2, and it does let me transfer from that!

So what's up with this message that claims I can't transfer from Premier XL because it's not Series 4 or later, when I can transfer from Series 2? :confused: It makes no sense to me at all.

Newbie to Tivo and Mini

Alright I have a Bolt(with OTA for now) and just added a Mini. I have everything hooked up via gigabit ethernet. I have all the streaming stuff working well on the mini.

On the Mini, Live TV and recorded tv stutters terribly. Everything is sitting on Gigabit networking. I have Apple Airport Extreme with 2 5-port gigabit switches one D-Link and the other a Netgear.

Any advice or direction would be extremely appreciated.

HBO GO - Activate Device

Seems like every time I try to use HBO GO since R14 update, I have to re-activate my Tivo Device to access it. Anyone else experiencing this?

RCA DTA-880 IR Codes

Just had to replace my OTA converter box with a RCA DTA-880. I'm not able to find the IR code that will work with my TIVO Series 2. I've tried Google to no avail as well as manually trying several hundred codes. Anyone have a code that's worked for them?

Moving to Kansas City

I am moving to Kansas City and need advice on tv/internet providers. I have two Roamios, currently connected to Xfinity, but Comcast is not in KC. I would love to subscribe to AT&T/Direct TV since they have a ROOT sports channel I like, but is that compatible with TiVo? Can I get cable cards and access On demand via TiVo menus?

I understand Google fiber is in KC, but is it true it's not compatible with TiVo?

Is Time Warner Cable the best option?

Roamio keeps canceling in middle of recording

Hi all, first post. Did a search, but didn't find what I was looking for.

I've been struggling with my Roamio for the past month or two when recording. I have a OnePass for a program (F1 Racing to exact), set to ignore repeats and only record new. Lately, without fail, the Roamio has stopped recording mid-program, sometimes after just a couple of minutes, sometimes after over an hour (usually, the recording time should be around 3 hours). When I go to the History list, it will inevitably list that the recording was stopped because it was duplicate, but that is simply not the case. Even double-checking the original air-date and time confirms that there isn't an error in the listing data (listing as a rerun, when it's actually new, for example).

I have now set the OnePass to record both new and reruns as a workaround, but since I record around 9 hours of coverage each race weekend (with planned overage for a live event), and the coverage is usually rerun at least once a weekend, I'd rather not have to keep up with erasing 15-20 hours of extra recordings each weekend.

I really can't figure out why the Roamio is acting this way with this program. Any ideas?

LOVED IT!

It's refreshing when a new show starts and you have zero idea about it going in and then find it actually good.

Ellen Barkin leads the cast as the matriarch of 4 (pretty hot) surfer-type crime dudes and her newly brought home high school-aged grandson.

Well done, well acted, well written - full of contradictions and "wait, what was going on there?" moments.

I'm looking forward to where this show is going to go...

Orange is the New Black - Season 4 - spoilers 06/2016

That was a surprise.
After Season 3 sucking Season 4 is back on par with how good Season 2 was.
It meandered a little in the middle (i thought some of the storylines were never going to end...), but I enjoyed it and they wrapped it up pretty nicely - in fact, I did not intend to binge watch it but I started and couldn't quite stop...

RF remote issues - Help needed!!!

Sorry for the long post but I have been fighting this issue for almost a year.

I have two Roamio DVRs (Pace Brand) and 4
minis. I oringinally had all the devices in a media room built specifically for
these devices, and although the Dish units I had in this closet all worked
perfectly, Tivo's would not work. I had to move 3 mini's to the TV's and use
IR. The two DVR's and one Mini in the closet, it still would not work
correctly. RF will work for 30 sec, then stop working, wait 10-15 seconds and it will start working again.

Two on the units are less than 20 ft from where the remote is typically used, the last one is out on a patio about 40 ft.

The worst part is that I get a "stuck Key" behavior that would act as if a key on the remote is pressed, this would happen for
sometimes up to a minute. Today it took almost 40 minutes to login to Spotify on the Tivo because of this behavior.

These are some of the things I have tried.

1. Reset all remotes and allowed Tivo's to re-discover them.
2. Changed the channel from 0 to 0, 1, 2 respectively
3. Turned off all devices to stop any interference.
4. I have replace Tivo's and remotes.
5. I added a RF dongle to the Tivo's to see if that would help
6. I have spent a lot of time on phone with Tivo support but the issues are still ongoing.

I found that when I separated the Tivo's by a few feet it worked a little better, but not much so I ran wires and installed a jack plate on the wall outside the media closet to separate them. This helped but it still stops responding after about 30 seconds and I still get the " stuck key" behavior every 3-5 minutes. The worse part about this is now I have to listen to the fan on the Tivo when I have a awesome climate controlled media closet.

My only conclusion id that RF on the Tivo's is terrible, or I am doing something wrong. I am a technical guy, but I am tired of trying to get this to work if it never will. Is there anyone with a similiar setup that is working?

I love the Tivo's and I really want this to work.

Mini to Roamio over VPN?

Any way I can get a Mini to recognize a Roamio Plus over a site-to-site VPN? The mini is already linked to the Roamio Plus on the LAN, I want to know if I can move it to another location and once there it would pick up DHCP and look for the Roamio at the same LAN IP which I can make reachable via VPN.

Assume bandwidth is apx 25 mb/s with 15-18 ms latency.

Youtube (Google Play Movies) Purchases no longer showing up?

Looks like a couple of weeks ago the Youtube app on the Tivo Roamio got updated, however, I now am missing the "Purchases" section which is where I was watching Google Play movies that I have bought.

Anyone know what happened to this and how I can view my Google play movies on my Tivo?

unable to play recordings on tivo desktop suddenly

I am on a trip. i have internet access and when I open tivo desktop my recordings are there but if I click on one and click play it says there is no application to play it on. any suggestions. It has always worked in the past on this computer. I don't know if I have used it since the latest windows 10 updatge however.

Roamio won't record one of my channels

I have a really strange problem. It only happens on one of my channels. When I watch it, I can't rewind on it. If I press record, it says it's recording but doesn't move. This only happens on this one channel that I know of. It works on all the other channels. In other words, there's no buffer before real time.

easiest way to transfer recordings to new TiVo?

I'm upgrading to all Bolts in my house, anyone know the best way to get all the recordings moved over? The OnePass Manager did the passes and there's an option to transfer the shows but I'm assuming that would be very slow over a network and a lot of stuff is transfer prohibited anyway.

Anyone try an SSD drive in a Bolt? Faster performance? Early failure from constant writes? Less heat?

OTA Signal Strength: Old Tivo HD Was Good / New OTA Roamio Sucks

I just purchased a Tivo Roamio OTA, to replace my old Tivo HD Series 3.

In 2010 I had a professional installation of a ClearStream4 Outdoor Digital HD TV Antenna along with a Channel Master CM 3414 Distribution Amplifier. The antenna was installed outside my house, on the attic level, with everything pointed and tuned correctly and connected to the existing cable wiring (yes there is a splitter there in the attic and yes it works fine). I had no problems after that 2010 installation.

Fast forward to now. New Roamio OTA installed in exactly same spot in my living room, using the exact same coax cable and my signal strength is now reduced across the channels by up to 40% and sometimes more. Same TV, every else is the same.

So for instance, one channel I used to get at 99% only comes in now at 61%. Another channel I'm only getting about 40% strength. The broadcast is pixelated and just not stable. I am checking signal strength through the Tivo antenna scan/display function in settings. :down:

I called Tivo Tech Support and they were terribly unhelpful. They claim they've not heard of this issue. They insist it must be the antenna or something not related to the Roamio. My HD antenna is securely bolted onto the house. I can't figure out a reason the old Tivo HD is able to bring in a good signal strength and then 10 minutes later the new Roamio cannot achieve the same signal when everything else except for the Tivo box is the same.

I cannot get to the antenna myself as it is 30ft off the ground on the side of the house, and bolted securely into place. As I said above, I've not touched it since it was installed. I took pictures of the loss of signal on various channels so I could compare them to the old Tivo signal strength to see how bad it is. This is unacceptable. (My old Tivo was on a monthly plan. The new Roamio came with 'Lifetime' Service and I really wanted the new features... :mad:)

What is causing this poor signal strength on the new Roamio? (Tivo doesn't know why).

ANY HELP or THOUGHTS on this?

Bolt w/ LG & Onkyo

Hi, I don't know if others have run into my same situation but I'll give it a shot. I have my Bolt connected to an Onkyo AVR and that's also connected to an LG OLED TV. Every time I turn on the Watch TV activity on my Harmony 700, something (don't know if it's the TV or Onkyo) is switching the input on the Onkyo to TV or Roku and not CBL/SAT so the TV thinks there's no input coming through. I believe I read that the TV has to turn on first for the HDMI handshake to occur but as we all know, the TiVo is always on. I've tried turning off SimpleLink on the LG and CEC on the Onkyo but this doesn't seem to help. Also, when you turn them off then you stop getting DD 5.1 on the built-in TV apps. This also seems to have gotten worse when I changed the Video settings on the Bolt to 2160 Auto. Has anyone been able to solve this problem as I've tried so many different combinations of settings that I've now lost track. Thanks!

Windows equivalent to cTivo or Archivo?

Is there a Windows 10 equivalent to the Mac apps cTivo or Archivo?

I've built a Win10 HTPC and need software to download TiVo shows. Previously I used cTivo on my Mac. I'm still learning what media apps there are for Windows.

I know there is KMTTG. And while it's the granddaddy of these solutions, I'm hoping there's a streamlined Windows app like on the Mac.

Problem with MLB app on Mini's when using AC routers

Hey tivo community.......I have a very aggravating and strange problem going on with my tivo network. Now this whole thing is very strange and I am going to explain it as well as I can and I hope there is someone here that can help me figure this out. Ok I have a tivo bolt and two mini's connected via MoCA network....here is how my setup goes. Main cable line goes to a 4 way splitter; one run to my cable modem/gateway; the other three go the bolt and two minis. I have a MoCA POE filter installed on the 4 way splitter as thats the only spitter used in my network. To create my MoCA network, I have the action tech MoCA adapter I bought from Tivo connected to my router and then the bolt and two mini's just join via MoCA via coaxial cable............for the last two years I have ran my tivo system with this setup and its worked flawless! then in April at the start of the MLB season the problems began. Not only did Tivo launch a new MLB app thats had problems but I was also looking to upgrade my network with a more powerful AC router.......I had been previously using an apple airport extreme 5th generation wireless N router.........what my main problems are is that my cable company forces their customers such as myself to use their Arris TG862 gateway and they don't allow their customers to use their own cable modems but they will put the gateway in bridge mode and allow to use your own router which is what I do. When I bought the AC router and tried getting things hooked up I noticed that for some reason it was extremely difficult to set the router up; it would set up fine until it had to reboot like if I changed a setting, etc ; when it reboot no connectivity so I thought it was just that certain Dlink router so I went out and bought different ones including the netgear nighthawk, Asus 3100, and a Linksys EA7500...........all of these routers were having connectivity problems and the cable company asked me to bring in my gateway and exchange it with a new one .......so I exchanged them out and they bridged the new one before I left their office and when I got home same problem! so I called and troubleshoot with one of their upper level tech support guys and oddly he asked me to trade out ethernet cables and when I did things started working but this is whats puzzling.......the cable I had been using was the CAT5E cable that comes with netgear routers and they had always worked just fine; I had even exchanged one I had used for two years thinking it could be damaged for a new one just like it that came with one of the netgear routers and it did not work.........so why would a certain ethernet cable that had worked perfectly fine for two years all the sudden become incompatible ? ok that was the first issue.......now the bigger issue........even though I am able to connect my router to my gateway with it in bridge mode AC routers are somehow not working well with my MoCA network; every few days or so when I check my MoCA details I am getting a few bad packet errors; not a lot but some when I used to never get any........and the problem this is causing is that for some reason whenever I try and launch the MLB app on the mini's ( not the bolt) it will not launch on the first try; I have to hit tivo central because it locks up then try a second time and it works? and this happened with me trying out at least 6 new AC routers from different brands........and here is the real kicker to it all.......I plugged my old airport extreme back in and wouldn't you know it no more packet error and the MLB app on the Mini's launch successfully the first time.........however this older airport don't have the cool cloud features like these newer AC routers do....I like to monitor my network when I'm away from home and use DDNS to access a USB drive , etc and the airport extreme is limited on these features but its the only router that is actually making my MocA network work without problems............so my question to you guys is do you think this is a problem with my ISP's gateway? maybe they have pushed some sort of firmware thats causing problems? they deny blocking any ports, etc because I have asked them if they have done anything different......I just find it odd how all the sudden that certain ethernet cable after working flawlessly for two years will no longer work with their gateway when its in bridge mode........or do you think its the AC routers? I would find it hard to believe it would be the AC routers causing this to happen because I haven't read of others having this problem......by the way my ISP is from a local cable company and is not one of the big boys such as comcast... I live in rural eastern, kY and we are monopolized by a local cable company...........I really wish I knew what caused this strange problem with my network and MLB app's on the mini's so I could use the newer AC routers... I know this was a lot of information but if any of you have any idea of what may be going on or what I should do based on what I've told you any input would be greatly appreciated..... thanks!
