TiVo Stream for Sale

Msg me with questions.

Added lifetime to roamio for 199

Not sure if this is a great price or not but i called a few weeks ago asking about a lifetime upgrade to my roamio basic and was offered $299 all-in-one plan. I called again today and was offered all-in-one on the same unit for $199.

I went ahead and took the deal. I also asked about Bolt purchase with and without all in one. The operator said if I bought a unit from a local store with Amazon price match i could wait 2 days after activation and call back to request $399 all in one add on.

Could SkipMode be made participatory?

(I'm just thinking out loud here; I don't know enough about how SkipMode works to know whether this is even remotely feasible—all I know is that it's regional, and makes some kind of very clever use of closed-captioning.)

Why pay people to mark the spots for SkipMode? I wonder if it could be made possible for any TiVo user to participate: I envision/fantasize it working by...
• fast-forwarding through a commercial by the means of your choice,
• going to a little extra trouble of pausing at a good spot to resume (perhaps including rocking back & forth with the FF & RW buttons during pause—their behavior might need to be changed slightly for this),
• dismiss the advert banner (Down-Arrow),
• and pull the trigger by hitting the Select button.

That could send to the mother ship your spots for SkipMode, and I don't know—I haven't really thought it through—maybe the first person's data arriving gets set for everyone in your region.... And I mean *immediately*: For those starting at 17 minutes after the hour, each spot you mark immediately becomes available for everyone else starting right then; no waiting until the hour is up, as present.... And for all the non-prime-time, non-prominent channels that people eventually watch, there probably wouldn't be a day or so at the most before your off-topflight program gets SkipMode.

Computers could automate all that, no?... Sure there would be some participants who wouldn't mark spots as carefully as I might, but for everybody else it would still be better than having to fast-forward through the commercials yourself, right? And not having to wait until the show ends (start at 17 minutes), and having SkipMode for off-topflight shows (sooner or later) would HUGE!

No doubt there are reasons for this not being practicable, and I'm sure you folks will leap in and tell me why. But I've been wondering & wishful-thinking about this for a while.

Watching TiVo Remotely

I currently have a Slingbox PRO-HD. For the past few years have used it for DISH Network. I recently canceled DISH, but I still use the Slingbox PRO-HD over the air tuner to listen to the local news on my drive into work. I have never been able to watch on-line at work, however, because Slingbox needs to download software and our work computers are locked down.

So, my questions are as follows. If I buy a TiVo Roamio OTA 1TB, can I watch live, over the air broadcasts, remotely on a computer? Assuming that I can, do I have to download any software or does it simply work from a Tivo website? Also, if I want to listen to the audio only remotely, without having a picture, is that an option?

A/V Pair-Mute Works Volume Doesn't

We had to redo the set up of our TiVo and receiver system recently, and when I paired the TiVo remote with the Yamaha receiver the mute function works, but the volume won't. It worked previously, and I don't think I'm doing anything differently, so I don't know what's going on. Any help would be appreciated.

5TB HDD in a Roamio?

Anybody successfully put a 5TB HDD in a Roamio?

The 3TB HDD I put in my Bolt isn't big enough for my OTA recordings and I seriously considering the new 1TB Roamio OTA with All-In for $299 (instead of buying All-In for the Bolt for $599) and swapping in a 5TB HDD (which I can strip from an external drive for $130).

Bolt and Premier XL Together?

I have a 1TB Premier XL but would like to purchase a Bolt while the price is low. Can they be operated together? I would assume no, and that I should give my Premier XL to a family member. Is that accurate?

What Roamio OTA looks like without the $15 Guide?

Looks like they are discontinuing the Roamio OTA. Like mine except the $15 monthly fee for guide. Anybody use it without the guide? Still able to surf the channels? May have to switch to Tablo.

Amang Race S28.E10: Monkey Dance OAD 4/29/16

Kudos to the editors for making it seem like Kurt and Brodie could still catch up.

Brodie's lack of focus/impatience/stupidity/<insert your own term> that resulted in having to use the Express pass came to bite them in the a$$.

If they had used it during the last leg (for example, to bypass the kite task,) they wouldn't have started last in this leg and they probably would still be in it. I'm sad to see Kurt go, but so glad that Brodie is gone.

Great strategy by Burnie and Ashley. They guaranteed that Brodie and Kurt would go home.

Cole is not very bright, but good for him for powering through tasks in this episode. As long as the tasks are purely physical, he'll do fine. It's also striking once he didn't have his overprotective mother, that he was able to do something that he was afraid of without any problems.

Dana treats chickens nicer than she treats Matt. :D

Bolts on Ebay

I quite regularly cruise around Ebay just to see if there are any deals, and it never ceases to amaze me what people will pay for a item that can be purchased new for less or close to it, a perfect example was a used Bolt with six months of the subscription left on it that went for 192.50 + 25.00 shipping for a total of 217.50, when you can pick them up for 232.00 from Worst buy or Amazon with free shipping and a full year subscription is it the thrill of bidding or just stupidity ?

Just thought I would share, Have a great weekend everyone:)

Give back cablecard?

My sister's been renting an inlaw building attached to the main house which has Comcast account and they got her a cable card for her Tivo preimer which has lifetime service. she's now moving out into someone else's house into a guest room. House has Comcast internet service only. we're considering adding Comcast TV to the account for her. Should she give the Comcast cable card from her tivo back to the people whose house she's moving out of? Could she even use the CableCARD if she kept it?

Upgrade to my current premier w adding additional one?

I have a premier that I want to keep but since it doesn't have any streaming ability over the Internet I thought I could get a new roamio or ?? To not only be able to watch shows between units in different rooms but online. So looking for the best option to achieve that goal.

Pioneer Elite TV

For some reason two remote codes out of 20 are not being read by the remote, meaning i'm not getting the flashing lights you would normally get when entering a code into the remote. I tried entering the code on three separate TiVo remotes and the same thing happens. Why would this be the case? Does anyone have a list of remote codes that I can try that's not listed on the TiVo?

Copy shows from Roamio to Mac

Hello,

My cable box is a TiVo Roamio (I think) leased to me by my cable company, Atlantic Broadband in Miami Beach. I have the TiVo iOS app to download shows to my iPad and iPhone, but I'm curious: is there a way to download shows to my Mac? Would be nice for my wife to be able to use her MacBook to watch shows when we travel, instead of sharing my iPad or using her iPhone.

I came across a couple of apps on the web like cTiVo and Kmttg, but those are 3rd party solutions. Are those the only ones available, or does TiVo provide a first-party solution I'm unaware of?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Time Warner going digital???

I thought everything went digital years ago? I just got a message from TWC saying that as of some date in June their signal will be digital and an adapter will be needed if you plug the cable directly into a TV.

Now I assume this will not affect the HD TiVo's with a cable card?

But what about the non HD ones? My parents still use an older one, series 2 I believe. Will they need an adapter or is that machine going to be obsolete after the change?

Thanks

Occasional "connection failure" when deleting a program

Is this a known bug? My connection is strong and I never lose the connection at other times, so it seems to be whenever the Roamio has some strange issue or another deleting a program it puts up the connection error and dumps you back into the program screen.

Anyone/everyone else?

Blot on Xbox One 4k passthrough?

So I have my bolt in my man cave with the xbox one and love using the xbox to voice control the TV. Will the XB1 pass through 4K from the bolt when watching netflix in 4k? Or will it only max at 1080p?

Alone - Second Season Thread *spoilers*

I could not believe a guy quit after only a few hours on the very first day!

Half way through the 2nd episode I was thinking that these people are all there for the long haul, and then that guy lost his farro rod and the girl cut her hand (I haven't learned anyone's name yet).

The guy who caught three fish seems like he's not going anywhere.

I'm enjoying this season so far.

Collaborative Scheduling?

Does the current software platform support collaborative scheduling? IOW, if there are two Bolts in a system, can a conflict on one box be automatically recorded on the other box, assuming a tuner's free?

I tried searching for the answer to this, but I can't seem to find a relevant thread. TIA for any pointers.

Anyway to Access Netflix/Amazon Fast

Is there any special way to access the Netflix or Amazon app at the press of a button with a Harmony remote...or any remote? Wife does not like how she has to access it now.

Enabling MoCa on Roamio - Does this provide MoCa data access from Router too?

Long story short, TiVo HD box in bedroom died last night, replacing it with TiVo Mini to be connected to my Roamio Plus. But researching brought up a couple questions.

I have my Roamio Plus connected via Ethernet.
I know I need to enable MoCa on the Roamio to provide network to the Mini.

Questions:
Does the Roamio Plus act as a full MoCa Bridge and pass all data packets that comes from my router (through Roamio) out through Moca. Or does it do some filtering and only pass out TiVo Specific packets (i.e. those which the TiVo is streaming from Recordings/Live Content/ and repackaged Streaming Content?)

In other words, can I buy a MoCa Adapter, put it someplace in the house and have use it for full internet access?

Note: I've already ordered a POE, so that I'm not passing noise back up the system (as well as potential security aspect that they above would potentially open up.)

MoCA setup

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been posted before but my searches are not coming up with anything useful.

I have Verizon FiOS. I have a coax going into my bolt with a cablecard. I have a wired ethernet connection hooked into my wireless router. I have one mini upstairs with wired ethernet as well. Everything is working fine.

I need to put a second mini in a room that only has coax. Do I need to enable MoCA on the bolt and then just get the Tivo mini configured for MoCA?

I feel like I am missing something or this is just too simple for me to comprehend. Am I reading too much into this setup?

Home data usage?

Hi-

I have a TiVo Stream connected to my home internet. If I use my TiVo app on my iPhone/iPad/Android device over my home WiFi to stream my content to my device, does the TiVo Stream still connect to my home internet or does it just stream directly to WiFi. Is there an easy way to test (e.g. just disconnect internet of my router?). Thanks.

Premeire and HD issue

Did a search of the forum and didn't see anything about this AND it's a recent issue so I'm wondering if some kind of update is the cause of my issue.

My Premeire can see the HD for MRV, but the opposite isn't true. I've turned off my DHCP linux server, set both TiVo's to static IP's via a DHCP reservation on the router, restarted everything, and even removed both TiVo's from the wireless network using powerline adapters. Both TiVo's can see my pyTiVo server so I know the network is working.

Any help?

Quick check of my network?

Hi...Verizon tech is here and I want to check before he sets up Ethernet for internet from ONT...

I'd like to have Ethernet from ONT to actiontec router, which will be connected to a gigabit switch. Roamio will have Ethernet to switch as well as coax for TV. To get my two minis connected should I also connect them to the switch or use MoCa? What will I set the roamio to for Internet? Will the actiontec take care of MoCa? Hope this makes sense.

Edit to add: can I have the actiontec provide Ethernet for data AND provide the RF signal over coax for TV? Is there a special setting for this?

Bolt- MOCA Setup with Actiontec- Which is DHCP Server?

All-

I have been racking my head on this. I've been having some serious connectivity issues, including devices (usually all Apple) having DHCP Conflict (multiple devices being assigned the same IP). I'm wondering if Tivo is issuing IP's via DHCP, and my router is also issuing IPs. Here is my config...

Office- Router and Cable Modem live here.
Coax IN->Actiontec -> Ethernet to Router
Actiontec Coax OUT (STB)-> Cable Modem

Kitchen- Bolt- No Ethernet, just Coax
Bed1- Moca Tivo Mini
Bed2- Moca Tivo Mini
Basement- Moca Tivo Mini

My question is this...

There is only one coax to Office. I'm assuming the Coax into Actiontec would receive IP that are passed through ethernet from the router. Since the Coax Out blocks Moca, it should be OK for the cable modem to sit behind that.

In the kitchen there is only Coax. Would I have the Bolt Connect to Moca or Create Moca Network? If Create, would it run DHCP and issue IPs, just like the router? Am I better to just use Connect to MOCA on the Bolt and all Minis? If so, the Tivo gives options for Channels, encryption, etc; but the Actiontec does not appear to have any configurable options.

Looking for some help!

Thx!
Ryan

The Blacklist - S3.E20 The Artax Network (No. 41)

So new theory. We know that Liz had been looking for her Mom or more precisely about her mom. My new theory is that the "baddies" are working for her mom and they drugged her to make her look dead but, we are gonna see her in the very last scene of the season with her mom. So I think her mom has something to do with her "faked" death.

Then again, she could be REALLY dead :)

One mini can't see plex server. Why?

Weird.

I recently bought a Samsung 4k tv and converted an old laptop into a plex server. Both work great. My 4 tuner premier can see the plex server and access it. So can two of my three minis. The plex server is connected via cat6 wire into the home network. All minis are connected to the premiere via moca. The network is commercial grade.

The third mini can't find the plex server. It otherwise operates fine. It updates with the tivo servers fine. It can go out to hulu fine. It communicates well with the premiere. I see tv with it and recordings just fine.

I tried all the usual things to get it to connect and the other two minis connected without issue.

Any ideas why one mini won't work with it but every other device sees the plex server without a problem?

Deadpool?

OK, why is my Tivo Central teasing me with a Deadpool star ad? I want to see this at home now. Please tell me how :D

Orphan Black 4/28/16 “The Stigmata of Progress”

Nice to see Rachel again. Especially nice to see her suffering. :D Not sure how I feel about the continued presence of the Castor clones...they were the weak link last season, I think.

I do enjoy Clone Club’s secret lair beneath the comic book shop.

When Allison thinks out loud, grown men tremble. “Maybe we should just buy one.” :D I wonder if Donnie will ever be able to go into the garage again without suffering flashbacks? And of course it’s Allison who has to perform the surgery on the corpse. But at least now Donnie has a good justification for his murder accident with Aldous!

I sincerely hope that’s supposed to be a fake southern accent...

Between this and Blacklist, it’s quite the night for pot-induced relaxation!

I love Tatiana’s brilliant acting job portraying Helena’s terrible acting job portraying Allison. I love that this is the kind of show where I can type that sentence. It’s interesting that of all the clones, Helena is the one who is most herself.

Not sure how smart it is for Art to put himself on Marty’s radar like that...

It seems to me that whenever James Frain shows up on any show, everybody should just run away screaming.

If you want to know about Helsinki, it is explained in the Orphan Black: Helsinki comic book series, the trade of which will be released in July.

Pytivo question: converting .tivo files

Good evening!

I am using pytivo again after about 5 year abscense. I remember I was able to transfer the recordings from the Tivo into a mpg or MPEG version that i could view on a tablet such as Android. I just downaloaded the newest version and I can transfer the videos from my tivo but they have a .Tivo extension. Do you know how i would be able to convert it into a mp4/wmv/flv/avi file or whatever?

Bolt, Black or White box???

I ordered a Bolt last week from Best Buy and received it in the mail on Tuesday. Unfortunately, they didn't double box it and the unit came with something rattling inside the Bolt. That outer cardboard box was black as were others I've seen at Best Buy.

I quickly reordered another for pickup yesterday and picked it up today. To my surprise, the box is completely white. Does anyone know about the white boxed version? Is there a difference?

The box says 1000GB instead of 1TB on the black boxes. I looked on the bottom of the units and the old one was also made in the fall of last year in Mexico so I'm not sure what the deal is?

Pc to Series 3 transfers

Using Desktop Plus, PC videos placed in the transfer folder for my Premiere, transfer fast & w/o error. Not so for my series 3. Used to function the same but in recent days, videos placed in the transfer folder just sit there. There is good communication (LAN) between the s3 and the PC so I am able to 'pull' from the PC but one video at a time as opposed to placing an entire series in the transfer folder.

TiVo Shares Rise as Rovi Delays Earnings

From Light Reading,

Quote:

TiVo Shares Rise as Rovi Delays Earnings

In a surprise move, Rovi delayed its earnings report today just hours before it was due to host a conference call to discuss results. The news sent TiVo shares rising as much as 10% in after-hours trading with investors placing their bets that a buyout of the DVR company could be imminent.

Reports surfaced last month that Rovi Corp. was seeking to acquire TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO), although the companies haven't commented publicly on the matter. (See Rovi Talking TiVo Takeover – Report .)

Bloomberg further reported two weeks ago that the companies have been trying to reach agreement on the valuation of their patent portfolios.

Back in February, Light Reading reported that multiple sources were predicting TiVo would be acquired in 2016. Three independent sources also confirmed at the time that Rovi might engage in M&A activity in the near future. (See Is 2016 the Year TiVo Gets Acquired?)

TiVo currently has a market capitalization of just under $922 million, while Rovi has a market cap of $1.45 billion.

Rovi has rescheduled its earnings call for Friday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Guide data not being kept current

It's less than 4 hours before the NHL game between the Pens and Caps starts on NBCSN. The local paper and NHL.com have shown the game as starting at 8pm EDT for two days now. The complete 2nd round playoff TV schedule has been on NHL.com for over a day.
The TiVo Guide both on my Roamio and online still does not show the games. Neither does a search for NHL Hockey. The Guide shows NBCSN having "Mecum Car Auctions" starting at 6:30pm and again at 8pm.
I have reconnected twice to the TiVo service and no updates. I've resorted to creating a manual recording so that I don't miss recording the game. It's ridiculous that a live sports event takes so long to appear. Not sure if the NBA playoffs are having the same issue.

mini a/v port --> bluetooth transmitter = lots of background noise... help!

I've hooked up a small bluetooth transmitter to my mini a/v port and paired it with my previously unused phone headset. Love it and the convenience, but while I'm watching TV, especially during any scene where there is a lot of white background, the humming noise is obnoxious.
I've read some threads that this is likely video bleed over from the video signal but I'd like to know how I'd need to make this work with my bluetooth transmitter, as I'd prefer to keep that setup.
Is it because the a/v port on the mini is expecting a 3 ring plug instead of the 2 ring plug that is on the bt transmitter?
If so, is there some cable I can buy that turns the 3 ring plug into a 2 ring receptor for my bt transmitter?
Is there a cheap solution at Radio Sh*ack that I can find?

The specs on the bluetooth transmitter are here:

Drive Upgrade and Keep Recordings?

Roamio Basic on OTA (500GB HDD.)

I would like to, upgrade the 500GB drive to 1TB (or more) and keep (transfer) existing recordings.
I am not seeking to off load existing programs to PC then reload to TiVo.

Has anyone figured out how to do this?

MoCA/POE problem??

For the second time in less than two years, Cablevision has left a note in my mailbox that there is "Return Noise" on my line. On a rare work from home day, I did have several internet outages this morning.

My POE filter sits outside, exposed to the elements. The last time this happened, Cablevision came to my house and just removed the filter while I was at work. I replaced the POE filter (I bought two last time), and just replaced it again. I ordered them from Amazon (http://ift.tt/1pKIZum).

I hesitate to call Cablevision as the last time I did this, their techs knew nothing about MoCA or POE. Again, they came to the house and just removed the POE filter.

Should the filter fail so soon, and should I be replacing it regularly?

Also I noticed that after replacing the POE filter and restarting the modem, the upstream light is (solid) yellow. All other lights green.

Audio/Video out of sync

I have been a long time user of TIVO, and the TIVO desktop to download shows to my iPhone.

I recently went over the air instead of cable, and bought a Romio since my old box did not support over the air.

Now, when I pull up shows on my iPhone, the audio/video is out of sync. Some downloads are worse than others, and it varies as to whether it starts out of synch or not.

This was never a problem before switching to OTA and a Romio box. I have validated that the file downloaded from the TIVO box before the IPhone converstion is fine, so it would seem to me it is in the conversion to iPhone that is the problem.

Anyone else run into this and been able to work through it? the audio/video is usually 5+ seconds out of sync, making the shows unwatchable.

Thanks
Mark

Possible to skip in 15 minute intervals

Occasionally I'll get near the end of a recorded show and switch to live TV or bring up the program guide and when I try to resume the recording, I'm back at the beginning. I'm sure this is "operator error." :D

Anyway, I see the recordings have 15 minute intervals marked. Is there a way to jump 15 minutes with one button click? My "skip to tick" button currently jumps 30 seconds.

Amazon not playing on TiVo help?

So I purchased some Amazon prime videos. And I don't do that often but I have done it before and watched it on my TiVo downstairs. The TiVo is registered with Amazon.

However I tried to watch an episode of a show i purchased last night and the when I clicked on Amazon it just comes up as a blank screen almost like I've got dead channel.

When I checked Amazon, it shows that both my iPhone and my TiVo are registered as players.

I am not sure if there is something to check on the TiVo.

fast forwarding on tivo bolt

I'm sorry if this is a real silly question, but I'm still new at this. Got the Bolt a couple months ago and I love it. But there's one thing I can't figure out. When I fast forward or rewind by pressing the arrow more than once and then I want to stop right at a certain spot, the tivo seems to jump a few seconds forward or backward. Is this just how tivo is or is there a way to have it stop on that spot?

On my old dvr,if I fast forward, for example, 4x or 8x, and then if I hit play, it will start playing right at that spot.

Remote Not Working after Changed to New Batteries

After changed to new batteries, the Roamio remote stopped working. The orange light above the TiVo button stays on after pressed the volume button a couple of times. I replaced batteries once again, and before pressing the volume button, I re-setup Part 1 (power, volume, mute) of Remote Control Setup. The power button worked so I saved the setting. But when I pressed the volume button several times, the remote stopped working again with the orange light at the top of the remote on. Can anyone help me how to fix this issue? Do I have go over Remote Control Setup Part 1 thru Part 5 each time I change batteries?
Thanks!

Bolt will not get Premium channels

I have been trying for two weeks to get premium channels working. I get v58 on all HBO, Show, Max, Starz. Charter has done multi cable cards and tuner adapters. Tivo says its the cable card is not authorized for copy protected channels and charter needs to fix it. Charter says it is tivo bolt known problem. Charter puts the cable card in a Roamio and all of the channels work. I have tried two bolts and both have same problem. Tivo points to cisco cablecard cp info and it shows "Auth Status: Waiting for CP Auth". So should i just return the Bolt and get Roamio or has anyone had this problem and found a solution.

Thanks

Mini no longer "fully" sees host

I have an XL4, a Roamio Plus and two minis. All connected via Moca- Actiontec at modem.

Out of the blue I fired up one Mini whose host is the Roamio and tried to play a recording and got a connection error. Tried Live TV and got same error. Switched host to the XL4 and everything worked fine. Rebooted the Roamio. Rebooted the Mini. Nada. Ran guided setup on the mini. While it showed both the XL4 and the Roamio as choices, it said no dice for the Roamio if I tried to clicking on it. With XL4 chosen as host, I can go to the bottom of My Shows and it shows "Roamio", but when I choose that it comes up showing the XL4 in an SD screen.

I'm kinda at a loss here. Obviously the MOCA is working; internet is working. All units are working fine on their own. It's just that the one Mini will not fully connect with its usual host.

Any thoughts?

Solved: I rebooted my router and the mini saw the Roamio once again. I really can't figure out why the router was the issue as the moca worked for all devices since the mini in question could access the Internet and see and play from the XL4.

Can you see why bolt isn't going to record a show

I record Mickey Mouse clubhouse for my daughter on Disney. I have a one pass set to record everything new and repeat. I noticed that it stopped recording. It said the previous episodes were not available which is why they were not recorded, but then I saw it wasn't set to record any upcoming episodes either. I can view them by selecting upcoming episodes and set them to manually record but the one pass isn't recording them. Is there a way to see why it isn't recording

Can a TiVo Series 3 work with both a OTA antenna and 2 cable cards?

So I have a lifetime series 3 and want to try cutting the cord from my cable provider.

But I wanted to "stage it" and see how I liked it before formally ending my cable subscription.

But it seems the unit won't let me use "both" at the same time. I get an error message saying it won't let me proceed.

I'm getting the impression I have to remove my cable cards and only use the antenna.

Is that correct?

What am I doing wrong?

I have two Tivo Premiers, and one is failing. The bad one still boots and partly functions. Live TV generally looks OK, but newly recorded shows have pixelations/dropouts when played back. An hour long show recording will only be about 52 minutes long. Shows recorded before it had problems playback badly. The video will pause for 5-10 seconds every 30 seconds or so. The menus work but are slow, sometimes very slow. It tends to work worse the longer after a reboot. When first booted, it almost seems normal for a bit, but it's short lived.

I already purchased a new Bolt, and tried transferring the recordings to it, but it (essentially) did not work. One program finally transferred over about 24 hours, and it played back with hesitations/pixelations. (Perhaps it was a recently recorded show. I'm not sure.) On whim, I connect up a USB network adapter and rebooted, but it made no difference.

I've read a few threads here, so I understand I can not move the drive from the failing Premier into the working Premier and watch the shows already recorded (or transfer them off to my new Bolt).

Where I need help...
- What is likely the source of the failure? HD? Main board? Power supply?
- Is there a reasonable path where I get the shows off. For example, if the problem is the power supply, I could swap it. Or do I just walk away? (I'd certainly like to have the shows, but it's nothing I can't live without.)

The HD is a 3 year old WD 2TB green drive.

Thanks.

Premere 4, updating info from new router

I have a new router with a new password but the TiVo can't find the router and I can't go in to change the password. Help, Thanks

Practical experience of Bolt v Comcast X1 and where to buy?

Good morning - I understand from reading through websites the feature differences provided by the Bolt - I am curious as to how people who previously had a Comcast X1 feel the Bolt operates in comparison? To the degree it matters this would be used in the SF bay area.

Also, is there any reason to buy directly from Tivo vs Amazon? I understand there is a $70 price difference on Amazon at present.

Amazon also has a 2TB Bolt - any chance anyone has any experience with that?

I appreciate everyone's time and comments.

Tivo with streaming devices and Sling

I have a TiVo Roamio, which I really like. I am considering cutting the cord with cable; I am looking into an Amazon Fire TV or Roku TV. I plan to keep my netflix, but I am debating between Hulu and Sling TV. I like that Sling TV has the ESPN add on, but does Sling TV work with TiVo?

Any insight or advise on how to cut the cable cord is appreciated. I feel overwhelmed with the options.

Tivo Online bandwidth - can we adjust?

When using Tivo Online via a Windows 10 computer for example, is there a way to fix the bandwidth at a certain rate, or does the Tivo Online software adjust dynamically based on what it gets back from the source?
I've found that software which gives you a choice tends to be more reliable when travelling to places where bandwidth fluctuates.
thanks

Netflix buffering on TiVo Mini

Having a problem with Netflix buffering, but only on my 4 Mini's.

Netflix plays fine from all other devices in my home - wired or wifi - including my Bolt. This is only an issue on the Minis.

Hoping someone out there might have ideas for how to resolve this issue.

- Bolt (Ethernet to router)
- 2 series 1 Minis and 2 series 2 Minis (Moca to Bolt)
- Bolt is the Moca injector (using the coax port)
- Arris SURFboard SB6183 Cable Modem
- Asus RT-AC68U AC1900 4 port wireless router
- Moca network is avg. 280Mbps, no errors, great SNR.
- Internet connection clocks in at 50+ down & 5 up

In my troubleshooting efforts based on multiple calls to TiVo, Netflix, and my ISP (Mediacom), ALL of my equipment has been replaced without resolving the issue with Netflix on the Minis.

The Minis have been reset and reloaded.

We have tried a direct Ethernet connection from both the Bolt to the router and a Mini to the router (to rule out Moca) and that did not resolve the issue either.

The wierdest part here is that at all of the Minis, the Netflix "connection speed" (accessible through the Netflix help menu) is showing just under 5Mbps. That's not fast enough. At the Bolt, the connection speed is around 30Mps. And when I connect a PC at that Mini location by Ethernet only, it gets the full 50/5 network. So I really don't know what could be affecting only the Minis.

Help!

New Roamio OTA - Does that mean no Bolt OTA?

Does this kill the chances of a Bolt OTA?

Roamio OTA 1TB

http://ift.tt/24kherZ

Didn't see this posted yet. Sorry if it is a re-post.

$399 with All-in

Too bad they did not go with a 3TB. Now it costs $100 more (than the best prior deal) and we need to remove a 1TB drive to add a 3TB drive.

Playlist

I think that it would be nice to be able to create playlists just like is possible on iPod,iphones and mp3 players. Some examples are the ability to make a playlist of all shows from the same channel, a playlist that consists of all of a same genre say reality shows or all news programs, or playlist by subject matter like dogs or the political race.

Virgin Media Tivos getting updated UI

http://ift.tt/1YTqakw

This week Virgin Media Tivos are getting a more graphical UI, and their own version of OnePass at some point. Curious to see what that GUI will look like, and if we might get it here one day.

It could be completely VM-specific, so who knows.

Late this year or early next they'll also have UHD boxes.

Roamio and directv

Not sure how long HBO Go has been available on my Roamio but I noticed it recently and tried to log onto my HBO GO account. Using my username and password I got to where it asked for my provider but and Directv wasn't listed but Directv Puerto Rico was. I couldn't get past this. Any suggestions or why/what is wrong?

thanks in advance

Just received my Bolt from Amazon, need to ask a few questions

I just received a TiVo Bolt from Amazon today. I do have some questions first, though.

How good are the factory seal stickers on the boxes? The one I got seems to have been opened before if I didn't know better. The adhesive on three of the four stickers was gone on the bottom half of the stickers attaching to the bottom of the box. The remote, however, was sealed in bag and appeared to not be tampered with and batteries were intact. The plastic looked undisturbed on the unit, but that doesn't mean much. Mind you, I got a HDHomeRun Extend from Newegg almost two weeks ago with the same kind of factory seals where the side on the flap was actually stuck under the flap intact. Given this, I have not yet activated the receiver with TiVo.

I am testing it though for signal strength on OTA channels and how it renders live tv with closed captioning. I have read several postings about this, but want to know how those of you with Bolts interpret the OTA signal strengths you get. I have 6 main channels, 1 of which is 18 mi away and the other 5 24-25 mi away in the same direction within 6 degrees of each other. I am on a hill and several feet above the houses behind me, which is where the stations come in from. The nearest trees are 1/4 mi. away. I have what you call a perfect unobstructed LOS to the towers. antennaweb.org shows these six stations all in Yellow. I use a top grade ultra flat antenna in the window.

Having said all that, I get a solid constant 72 on all six, with 2 channels sometimes starting at 85 and after a few minutes gradually easing back to 72. Is that a good signal strength? How hard would it have to rain to lose a signal that normally comes in at 72 on a clear day in the middle of the afternoon, which is the worst way to pick up a UHF channel due to the UV radiation (other than severe rain)?

Right now, my main concern in evaluating the Bolt is to make sure that the signal will be solid for the most part given what I have said above. I seem to get that impression from what I have read, but I want to hear from those of you who have had the Bolt for a period of time and watch/record OTA channels.

I have a feeling I might be sending this particular Bolt back due to the faulty factory seals, but I want to fully evaluate its live performance first while I have it.

My wife and I are trying to cut the cord and we have to have a good OTA dvr solution that will properly passthrough Dolby Digital 5.1 and render closed captioning properly (wife is hard of hearing in the vocal range). Other solutions I have tried fail to properly do one or both of the above, so I am thinking that the Bolt is the answer. I just want to make sure of what I am getting into.

If I get mostly good response, I'll probably have Amazon send me another Bolt with factory seals verified intact.

Please advise.

TiVo with Almond Range Extender

Hi - and Thanks in advance.

I'm trying set up my parents' Roamio with an Almond Range Extender. It gives a new SSID, but TiVo won't connect to it, it gives an N07 error. All other devices connected fine. I changed the encryption to WEP and still the same error. Any help would be appreciated.

The Night Manager (6-part miniseries on AMC)

Tom Hiddleston plays the Night Manager of where Hugh Laurie and his entourage are staying. What happens before they meet is pretty interesting and looks like Hiddleston is way in over his head.

Thought it was really good and set an SP. It's a short commitment, so why not.

TiVo logged into old Netflix account, now I can't log in with my account

I had my ex-boyfriend's Netflix account set up on my TiVo. Of course, once he and I broke up, he changed his password to his Netflix account. So I need to change my Netflix account on my TiVo from his account to mine.

When I try to go from my TiVo menu to Netflix, it says I don’t have anything in my queue. When I go to “Messages & Settings,” and then “Account & System Information,” there is no “Netflix” option.

This happened to me once before, on my old TiVo, and when I called in, they just had me give them my TiVo Service Number, and they were able to deactivate the old Netflix account.

I called TiVo customer service, and spoke to Kevin, who told me that the only way to clear the old Netflix information from the TiVo was to go into it from my ex-boyfriend’s account. (Of course, that’s not an option, since my ex changed his password.)

Since I had previously had someone from TiVo clear it for me, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and got Bryce, who told me the only other option was to completely clear the TiVo, and start over from scratch.

So, the question here, is... am I just permanently not able to use Netflix on this TiVo any more? Or is there some other option that I haven’t discovered?

TiVo was able to clear my Netflix login on my TiVo before, why are they no longer able to do so? Is it just me, or does that seem pretty shoddy?

Guide information different on 2 different TiVo's

I had a strange occurrence last night where the guide information on my Bolt was different from my Premiere. The information on the Premiere indicated that Gotham was a re-run so it didn't record this episode. The Bolt indicated that Gotham was New so it recorded it. As it turns out, the Premiere had the correct information because it was a re-run. Anyone know why the 2 TiVo's would have different guide information and why the Bolt (a newer TiVo) would be incorrect?

Tivo Stream to ios app producing empty videos

In the past few days, my transfers to the tivo app (on ios) have been producing blank videos. It was working fine last week, and then sometime over the weekend, it claims to transfer the video, but it is unwatchable.

Let me be more exact about what I do and what I observe.

So if I start the tivo app on the iphone, I can connect to my main tivo box and I can start a transfer of a TV show. Let's say its "60 minutes". This usually takes about 15-20 minutes. Once that's done, I can then watch the episode when I'm in offline mode as I watch it on the train while I'm commuting.

The transfer completes. But when I try to watch the stored video, I am presented with only a black screen. What's interesting is that I see all the usual video controls. I can see the fast forward button, the info button, the cc button, the volume control. BUT. The one control I don't get to see is the one that let's me slide forward and backwards in the video. The line for the slider is there, but the little circle that you drag is missing. Regardless, there is no actual video to watch. But the tivo app does seem to know how long it is. So its not confused about the length. Its like it has forgotten how to decode the videos. Also, there is no audio. Curiously enough, if i let it "play" for a bit and then exit, the main list of videos with the green bars that show you how much of a video has been watched appears to be appropriately updated.

All videos that I've recently transferred (~4/23?) are in this state. And it doesn't matter if I'm connected to my home tivo at home or not. I've restarted my iphone at least once to see if that would clear it.

In a moment of silliness, I decided to see if upgrading the iphone app to the latest that was in the store would rectify the problem, but that sadly has only made the problem worse in that all the videos I had transferred earlier (which had been watchable unlike the black videos created recently) are now no longer available to be viewed on the iphone app as they complain with "Unable to play this saved video when moved to a new device".

FWIW, I am now running v3.7 (887631) on an iPhone 6+ with ios 8.3.

Problem with Sunday night recordings on CBS

I like to record several consecutive shows on Sunday nights (from 7pm to 10pm) but have a problem with shows getting bumped anywhere from just a few minutes to as much as a half hour. This makes a mess out of trying to watch a show where there is no ending and has half a show from the previous time slot on it. This is on a Bolt operating on OTA and streaming only.

So what I thought I'd do is to record in parallel a manual recording from 7pm to 10:30pm....logic being that if the shows didn't get bumped, I could play the individual shows and if they were, I'd have the 3 1/2 hour recording to watch instead. For whatever reason, the TIVO didn't record the 3 1/2 hour manual recording. I don't know if there is something in the TIVO software where it won't do a manual recording if a repeat recording is going on for the same channel. Kinda make sense, though. I would rather not delete the individual show one pass and only use the 3 1/2 hr manual recording unless there is no better way.

In any event, has anyone figured out a way to set up these recordings so that you get everything when the whole evening is bumped?

Skip on Recorded Shows

Has anyone else had an issue with recorded ABC shows not having skip?
For the past several days none of my recorded ABC shows have had the skip option on my Roamio TiVo.

Romaio Plus / iDevices - issue streaming

Hi,

While I'm not a big user of the TiVo app, I do need it from time to time.

Tried to use it last night and got an odd error:

Streaming Not Supported

The version of software on this streaming device does not support out-of-home streaming.

This seems odd as I know the iDevice app is up to date and far as I know same on the TiVo.

I can see the shows, but can't stream them - watch now and download aren't selectable.

Anyone see this before? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

Is OTA possible for an XL4?

All my Tivos but one are OTA capable, I am tired of paying the cable company for local channels that come in fine over an antenna.

I have lots of recordings on my XL4 which is still under warranty. Is there any way with an add on device or tuner that I can convert the XL4 to OTA?

Disney XD show doesn't show up in partially watched

I recorded one show of all my many shows that even when I watch part of an episode, it does not show up in the partially watched group. The shows also don't show up in the Going Away Soon group. I have a TiVo Premier. The show is Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. As far as I can tell this is the only show that fails at this. I have Comcast cable.

TWC -> FiOS -- can I use my own router w/ my Roamio & Cable Card?

I am a current TWC customer with a 6 tuner Roamio. FiOS just came to my neighborhood and I am switching next week.

My question is, I don't want to buy or rent the Verizon router when I have a perfectly good ASUS RT-AC68P that I would much rather use.

I have read conflicting accounts of TiVo users being able to use their own router and still get TV Service. How I assumed it would work is I would ask the installer to run both an ethernet and coax cable from the ONT like this:

ONT -> Ethernet -> My Router (Internet Access)
ONT -> Coax -> My TiVo/Cable Card (TV Service)

In this set up my TiVo would pull TV Service from the ONT, but guide data from the LAN as it does now.

Can those that use their own Router & also have TiVo give me a couple tips so I can be prepared for next week? Thank you!

Playing Purchased Youtube content on TiVo?

I recently purchased a video from Google Play (Independence Day), and when I log on to youtube from a computer, it shows up in my Purchases folder and I can watch it. But, when I log on to youtube from my Premier and go to Purchases, it says "No videos are available." If I manually search for the video and try to play it, it says "This video requires payment."

Both the computer and TiVo are logged into the same account, but TiVo doesn't show any of my purchased content (I should have 4 videos total). Does anybody know why this is happening or if there's a way to fix it? Thanks.

HBO Go App NOT Authorized by Comcast Causing OnePass Problem

So first, this is not such a big deal, but a mystery. So even though I can sign on to HBO GO from my android fine, Comcast does not allow the Tivo HBO GO App to work on the tivo. I noticed this because I setup a OP for OZ (come on, it's fun sometimes) and the only option where to get it was the HBO GO app, which does not work because you cannot get an auth code! So I know all the episodes are on VOD and they all play, so I unchecked the HBO GO app in Settings (what good is it anyway?) and then the option for Xfinity came up in the OP setup, BUT even though all seasons/episodes were listed, most of them were dimmed out, meaning not available.

Hopefully some Tivo person will look at this post because I am not in the mood to type an email incident or talk to tech support about this, because all they would say is "PUT A FEATURE REQUEST IN". ARRRRGGGGG....LOL.

YES, I DID CALL COMCAST EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT WOULD BE USELESS, AND IT WAS... ALMOST ALL CABLE COMPANIES ARE IN THE LIST IN THE HBO GO PAGE...EXCECPT COMCAST. IT WOULD BE NICE IF TIVO CALLED COMCAST TO FIX THIS, BUT THEY WON'T, BECAUSE THEY ARE A SAD COMPANY WHEN IT COMES TO THINGS LIKE THIS. (THE 5 MIN SKIP STILL DOES NOT EVEN WORK WITHIN THE TIVO XFINITY APP AFTER COMPLAINING FOR YEARS, AND THAT HAS BEEN AN AVAILABLE FEATURE FOR 15 YEARS IN COMCAST DVRS...)

If you have gotten down to here and you are a Comcast customer and have experienced this, please post. THANKS.

Any previous hdhomerun users.....

Well I sold my hdhomerun prime for the bolt and I think I made a mistake the picture on my TV is not nearly as good and crisp. Or maybe I don't have the Upscaling set properly any thoughts......

OnePass "updating"

I have a OnePass for "Rock the Park". When you look at the OnePass screen it says "updating" to the right of the title; it's the only OP that's showing that message. If I try to click on the OP, it starts to go to the edit screen then pops right back to the OP list. If I go to the show (either in Now Showing or by searching) and select cancel OP it still doesn't delete.

I rebooted a couple of times and that didn't fix the problem. I let it sit overnight and it did it's connection to TiVo. I rebooted again and it's still "updating."

Any ideas? The OP wasn't working properly so I was attempting to delete and recreate it.

TIA,
Charlene

prompt to add extra time for live event now missing from wishlist

I have a Tivo premiere and record lots of sports. Now, if I go through my Wishlist to record, the prompt to pad with extra time doesn't come up. I have to go to "recording options", then click through all the times, starting with one minute, blah blah, until I get to one hour, then exit out, etc. It now takes 25 clicks to record a single basketball game. If I go directly through the guide to record, the prompt comes up as usual. But, obviously, I do not want to record from the guide. This happened when my software was updated on 3-28-16. I called Tivo, they confirmed the problem, and say that the software update was from 20.5.6 RC21 to version 20.5.9 RC15. They don't know if this was an intentional change. It's driving me insane.

Bolt Guide Info Qs...

Hi guys,

Got a new Bolt after problems w/ Series 3 HD :(
OTA only and I use phone as hotspot and manually "connect" for my updates. When just out of the box I was surprised when I didn't see programming info show up when I pressed "guide" until I'd connected a few or more times over a couple of days. (I don't remember if the HD was like this when new but I had a DSL on all the time then.)

After a couple weeks, connecting every other day my guide showed almost no info after connecting yesterday. I connected a second time and seemed to get info back. I noticed no message telling me I was running out of upcoming schedule like I would get when going on vacation and shutting off DSL for the HD.

I thought there should be up to 14 days worth of a schedule and would expect all to be updated in one connection, whether done every day or every few days. Is there any doc or page I can read to get a better felling for how the schedule update works when I connect?

Thanks
John

Fear The Walking Dead "Ouroboros" 4/24/16 + TD Spoilers

Stupid

I can't decide what is more stupid. Things that happened on this episode, or the fact that I will keep watching the show. :)

Thoughts?

Jeff

Help me figure out where we are in Game of Thrones (some spoilers)

I'm trying to keep spoilers to a minimum for myself - so don't want to read every episode description.

We stopped watching, and was behind at that, about a year ago. I am not sure if it was the previous season, or the one before that.

But here is what I vaguely remember...

Spoiler:
Arya is on some island washing dead people. Tyrion is on a boat with someone, he was kidnapped??? But then rekidnapped??? And they were attacked by the stone people - and the other person got scratched??? Jaime has gone to get his daughterniece from wherever she is - I think he and his buddy were attacked, but don't remember if that was resolved.

So, do you have any idea about what season/episode I'm on? If I could at least get close, I wouldn't have to read too many descriptions and run the risk of a spoiler.

Time Traveling Bong

... is a new Comedy Central show. I've watched the first two and it's pretty funny if you like stupid comedy.

Pot doesn't have as much of a role as you might think from the title.
I don't see it as stoner humor like Dude, Where's My Car or Harold & Kumar.
It's more like Sliders with people who make bad decisions.

It looks like there were only 3 episodes to this "season".

Mini Question on 30 minute buffer

Forgive my ignorance here but I recently got a Bolt and 2 minis and they are working great and I'm very happy with them.

My question is about the 30 minute buffer that would be available on each of the 4 tuners on the Bolt at any given time, and if they could be accessed by the mini, assuming I select one of the tuners that has been on "X" channel for 30 minutes or more.

I could swear I saw this one night in my home when going to my bedroom where the mini is, and switching between 2 channels that I left the Bolt on, prior to going upstairs. The mini maintained (I think, unless I am losing my mind) a buffer on each channel as I bounced back and forth with the enter button.

I have not seen this for about 2 weeks now, and have been very specifically leaving the Bolt on specific channels and then selecting them from the mini in the bedroom but I get no buffer at all now. I live alone so no one is changing the Bolt channels and I am trying this when no recordings are happening that might also change the tuner channels.

Any ideas? I really am sure I saw the buffers once, but none at all since. Time for a rubber room? And a nice new suit with sleeves that tie in the back?:)

Comcast X1 Roku app

http://ift.tt/231j5PU

Comcast and Roku announce an X1 app to be delivered this Fall. It will allow a roku to deliver X1 features. At this time the features have not been identified nor has the price or if any other conditions are involved.

This could be a Tivo killer. If Comcast charges $20 / month for a household and limits the number of simultaneously connected devices to a 'few', this is almost pure profit for Comcast. It's almost a no brainer for someone with a good internet connection.

Roku costs less than a mini. If it's a real live tv streamer and not a hulu competitor, then this will be a dog fight pretty soon.

Metrocast Guide

I'd like to hear from any TIVO users on Metrocast. I've only had my TIVO Bolt for a few months and just recently realized that some channels never display guide data, always displaying "To Be Announced". :( I submitted a form to TIVO to correct the National Geographic channel. I hope that TIVO corrects this, but wonder why I have to make a request. I am aware that TIVO guide is ZAP2IT. Metrocast does use ZAP2IT. I can see program information for National Geographic on the ZAP2IT channel, as well as on the Metrocast web site.

Cinemax HD no longer available with Comcast HBO package

Anyone else lose Cinemax this week on their HBO subscription?

For the longest time all my various Comcast offers and upgrades have included
the HBO package as an incentive to stick with Comcast. That HBO package also included the one main Cinemax channel as well.

I noticed TiVo trying to record this week's Banshee episode numerous times over the weekend. Getting the "Channel Not Authorized " message I checked other channels.

Also got "Channel Not Authorized " message for MGM HD. But MGM returned later in the day. I figured this was a temporary Comcast blip and would right itself.

Now I'm thinking it's permanent. Comcast seems to be tinkering with all their packages. Recently Comcast switched CMT HD to a Sports package.

Verizon cablecard problem

I have had a Verizon FIOS cablecard for about 5 years. Used it first in my TIVO Premiere and currently in my Roamio Pro. Tonight it de-authorized itself. Never have had it happen before. I have Verizon FIOS STB in another room in my house and there was no issue at the same time my TIVO stopped working. I called Verizon and their automated system was able to fix it. Took about 1/2 an hour. The weird thing was I recording on four channels at the time and even though the screen was black on the channels it recorded two of the shows in their entirety. The other two were partial recordings and no signal was getting through. The message on the TIVO was something in regards to #161, whatever that is. Anyone have any idea what would have caused this. I have had the cable go out at my house several times over the last 5 years but nothing as bizarre as this.

Well, that was unsatisfying. :( I'm glad it's back, but I wanted to answers to more questions. Well, one specific question I guess. :)

Splitter question

Setup is OTA. Question here is maybe splitter quality or lies in db reduction

So my main splitter is a 6 port Moca 2.0 11.5 db drop. No problems here

My splitter in my attic off the antenna.

Previously a standard antronix-3.5 db 5-1000. Worked fine Moca works fine across house

I changed it to a Moca 2.0 one. 5-1675. Still same db loss. Verizon FIOS model

However I noticed with this one I saw a 2 db drop on some of my OTA signals

Same Moca speeds also between the two. I put the old one back and signal came back up. All is good. This is the second though higher frequency splitter I put in that dropped the signal. Previous was a directv one I had

New Bolt from Amazon vs Tivo

The Bolt 500 is $299 on Tivo and $232 on Amazon. Is there any difference in what you get between the two sellers?

Two Season Passes for same show?

My family loves "The Middle". It's one of those that's both on network TV as an active series, and then also syndicated on other channels so it's on 20x a day.

I would like to setup a Season Pass for the new network episodes, first run only, keep until I delete, with a relatively high priority so I don't miss them, and then another Season Pass for the other episodes, way down low so I only pcik them up when nothing else is being recorded.

I don't seem to be able to do this on my Premiere. It will only let me create one Season Pass for a show with that title. I thought about a Season Pass, and then an auto-record Wishlist, but I think I'd end up picking up both the network and the syndicated shows in the Wishlist.

Any suggestions?

Failure to match format 1080i automatically

I have used my TiVo premier XL4 HDMI connection with Charter cable card for about two years.
Recently it simply fails to automatically recognize it should start up on 1080i.
I can press the format button on the front of the unit manually until it matches.
Once in a while it will stay in that mode but often it does not.
I rarely hard reset the system so this seems oddly inconsistent behavior.
Anybody recognize this behavior?

Grimm "Good to the Bone" OAD 4/22/16

Poor Wu. Why does all this bad **** keep happening to him?

Poor Adalind too. While the last season few seasons I found her character just "there" as in part of the show but really not important, I have grown on her while she and Nick have been playing "house" with their child Kelly. If anything I felt Nick needed some happiness after Juliette and his mom were killed and she provided it. However I have a feeling the writers never want Nick happy for too long, and her character is going to have to choose between Nick and Black Claw, or Nick and her daughter Diana.

I have a feeling Zuri is working with Black Claw. Either shes with them, or they have her brother who isn't really away at college.

I think Renard hopes to take his daughter from Black Claw, and Adalind might feel the same way. However I have a feeling Adalind might be fully indoctrined to their ideology and wont want to leave.

The motw episodes have been kind of snoozefests lately. While each has their own interesting bit I find overall they just fill the hour around the season arc stuff, do we need a "NEW" wesen every week?

Issues With Listing Continuity

I've started seeing issues between the Tivo listings for shows and Comcast listings.

Is there a way to contact Tivo so they can work on updating?

For instance, in my Seasons pass for The Night Manager, there is the Tivo listing for Episode 1, and then there is the recording of Episode 1 with no episode number and a slightly different description.

Also, my season's pass for Sherlock wasn't capturing anything, although I actually recorded some episodes of Sherlock in Masterpiece Mystery.

MOCA sanity Check

Hi,
I just installed my antenna yesterday and I am getting decent signal across the board. I am in a deep fringe area and needed somewhat extreme measures to get a good signal. I am feeding about 100ft of coax from antenna preamp to where the Roamio OTA is. I would like to preserve as much signal as possible to the Roamio, but still have MOCA to run my Mini's in different rooms.

The rooms off the 4-way I am not concerned about TV signal, just getting Mini's to work via MOCA. I think if I 6 way split the whole thing, I would lose too much signal. I may also consider a distribution amp.

In the room at the bottom labeled "office" there is no TV, just the internet connection.

Would this setup work for MOCA? Assuming of course splitting the signal in the first place doesn't harm the source signal too much!

thank you!

Time Warner in ZIP 90068 missing channels

Roamio Pro and Series 3 here both having 'missing channel' issues in 90068 on both sets I have. Both running a TiVo with cable card and Tuning Adapter.

Missing channels usually mean the TA channel mapping has changed, and it needs to be rebooted to get the new mapping. Tried that several times, no luck.

Sometimes, when the TA reacquires sync, I get NO channels, other times there are about 30 or so channels missing, including some (but not all) of the HBOs.

And weirdly, some of the channels I do get I know need the TA to work.

I talked to TW cable card/TA support yesterday, and they found nothing wrong, except one guy stupidly told me the problem was I was getting too much signal from them (I checked, and the signal levels on my Series 3 are in the normal 90-95 out of 100 range), and he insisted on rolling a truck a truck today but I know it's a waste of time - this has to be on their end somewhere. The missing channels had zero signal.

Anyone else with the issue?

Transfer Recordings: TiVos in Different Locations?

I received an email and probably didn't read the fine print...

Tried to transfer recordings between TiVos in 2 separate geographical locations. Logged on to the TiVo site, went thru the Manage>Transfer Recordings process for my 2 TiVos and never received a "No, you can't do that" message.

The recordings never transferred.

Can't skip to next episode in PLAY ALL mode.

Hey guys, as you know, you can play every episode in a folder by hitting the PLAY ALL button below, or simply hitting play on the folder. In the past, I was able to skip to the next episode by hitting the CHANNEL UP button. This no longer works in my Roamio Pro, or my Minis.

Have you guys experienced this?

When did the VUDU app get 4K?

It wasn't there in the beginning, was it? I checked when I got mine in November and it didn't seem to have it then. The app still doesn't show a UHD collection, as my TV's VUDU app does; it's possible that I merely checked for the presence of that. As of 11 March, VUDU's list of UHD devices still did not include TiVo (only Roku 4s, Roku 4K TVs and various Vizio TVs). I wanted to compare the 4K video of one of the 2 minute previews to 1080p (my 2014 Vizio P-Series TV's VUDU and Amazon apps give me scrambled video, except in 4K; a strange bug unique to mine ) and found that the title was available in UHD in TiVo's app.

Again, given the lack of the collection it's difficult to see what's available. You can see them on their website.

HBOGO with closed captions?

How do I turn them on/off? Tried about everything, but obviously overlooking something. I wish there was some standard button protocols for streaming media, but alas they all seem different.

TiVo HD Rebooting and Freezing

I have a TiVo HD, model no. TCD652160 (manufactured 30 July 2009), that is regularly rebooting and freezing, generally a few times each day.

I had wanted to increase the recording capacity, and I installed a Western Digital 2 TB hard drive, model no. WD20EURX, new from Newegg. The upgrade went fine, but since then the rebooting and freezing has continued, so the problem was not defects with the old hard drive.

A visual inspection of the power supply does not show any faulty capacitors, or any other visual damage. I do not have a volt meter, so it is possible that there is a hidden defect with the power supply.

I have read of a motherboard "problem" that exists with some TiVo HDs, see Fix my TiVo!, but nothing specific as to what exactly that "problem" entails, or problem can be resolved . . . other than shipping the entire unit to "TiVo repair experts" at WeaKnees.

Any ideas on what the problem might be, or how the problem might be further diagnosed? Are there are reasonably-priced and capable TiVo diagnoses and repairs centers in New York City, so that in the worst case scenario I would not have to ship the entire TiVo unit 2,500 miles to WeaKnees in Los Angeles, and at an excessive repair cost of $275 ($100 for diagnosis, $130 for the actual repair, and $45 for shipping)? If the problem is simply the replacement of a particular component on the motherboard, there should be someone here in NYC that can do that can solder in a replacement component quickly and inexpensively.

Channel label incorrect

I have a Roamio basic OTA and one station is CBS but the TiVo labels it as Fox. How can I correct this?

Fios frontier cable card cost

I am in Florida and was part of the change over from Verizon to frontier. I just got my first bill from frontier and saw it was much higher than Verizon. They have a few odd things on there, but I also noticed they have a $15 charge for a cable card. Does anyone else with frontier know if they really charge that for a cable card. Verizon charged $6, which was bad enough but 15 is insane.

iZombie - season 2 finale "Dead Beat" / "Salivation Army"

So these episodes were really entertaining! I like that Clive now is in on the action, and it was really fun seeing Liv convincing him. It was pretty much about time to change things up there.

But I'm not so sure about the Zombies taking over the world thing. It just seems like it could change up the entire premise of the show. I don't know how we could go on with the mystery/brain of the week and having Liv take on a different personality anymore. But not sure I want this show to turn into a zombie apocalypse show....since this was what made the show different. We'll see.

Really brutal that Liv had to kill Drake! On the other hand, Major letting Super Max guy die the elevator was great :)

Thunderbirds Are Go! again...

Anyone seen this yet? Anyone care? Amazon is spreading it's reach a little here, although I must say, they've upped Lady Penelope's game quite a bit from what I remember as a youngster. Maybe I just didn't notice her....

Implications of changing providers

There's some conflicting information out there about this:

When you change MSOs, can you still access recordings on a Roamio Pro?

What happens to OnePasses? All the channel numbers will change, so do you have to recreate them?

The Amazing Race | Salt That Sand! | OAD 4/22/16 *spoilers*

Wow, I'm surprised at how far behind Sheri and Cole were when they left the Pit Stop. The editing last week made it seem like they were at Atlantis at the same time as at least one other team and were not that far behind, but it appears they were nearly three hours behind the next closest team and almost four hours behind the leaders.

Lucky for the airport bunch up.

Those snakes were awesome! I don't know why so many of the racers were freaked out. It's not like the snakes were going to bite them. And Zach and Rachel even seemed to want to immediately wash their hands as if the snakes contaminated them.

I'm surprised at all the talk about how Kurt has done his full allotment of Roadblocks and now Brodie has to do the rest. In prior episodes they made it seem like Brodie was very capable and athletic, but suddenly the narrative is that he's a dunce and their team will be disadvantaged by him doing Roadblocks.

That Speed Bump soup looked yummy. I'm not sure why Cole was so convinced the meat must be something gross. But I was pretty impressed with their team overall in this episode, having to do the Speed Bump and still coming in third.

I didn't understand all the consternation about Rachel doing the salt task. Sure, it was difficult and took her longer than it would have taken Zach, but then he got to build the kite and I'm sure he built it much faster than she would have.

Those kites were super cool. And freakin' HUGE! I wonder how hard it is to get those way up in the sky and keep them there.

It will be interesting to see next week how close Burnie and Ashley really were to finishing first. Phil made it sound like it was close, but we never saw any camera shots of both teams approaching the pit stop together.

Would have liked to see Zach and Rachel make it further, but this was probably the right spot for them to go out, given that the remaining teams have all been consistently better than them. I liked their "walking the plank" exit.

I don't want to go into standby mode

For the last few days, when I switch over to the Bolt, it is standing by, and I need to press the Live TV button or the TiVo button to wake it up.

How can I tell it to not go to sleep?

Thinking of stopping my TiVo service and go streaming only. Anyone else?

I have been a long time TiVo owner, you can see from all my posts and how long I been a member here, and I am "kind of sort of" debating to stop using my TiVo and go streaming and OTA antenna only.

I had a problem the other day with my OTA setup and everything that was recorded was unwatchable. I still wanted to watch the shows and I found everything I missed online streaming somewhere.

That made me think and then I signed up for a trial of Hulu and just about everything, 52 out of 57 SP's, I have a SP for is there. Even complete seasons are there so I don't need to save everything anymore. One difference is you have to watch them 1 day after they air and that is fine to me. I watch 90% network shows and the streaming quality is good enough especially for shows like that. I know some want the 4k or higher quality and I can understand that.

It was almost like I have an unlimited space DVR and I don't have to worry about making SP's or forgetting to record something as its just there. I could watch the shows anytime I want, skip, rewind, pause and all that. I can also watch them from pretty much any device, HDTV or computer and anywhere.

I know if you lose internet you can't watch anything, but I can't think of many bad things if I do this.

I realize this is a TiVo forum and a lot of you are hard core TiVo people  but has anyone else done or tried this and what was your experience???

Tivo and Slingplayer

So, I use slingplayer app on a roku to remotely control my tivo.
I hate using my phone or tablet as the remote. Is anyone aware of a tactile physical remote that will give me my tivo functions through the slingplayer app?
Thank you

Mini remote control click stutters?

I just got a Tivo Bolt and a Mini and I have noticed something very annoying about the Mini: the remote "stutters". By that I mean two things:
no reaction from the Mini to a click (missed click)
and multiple reactions to one click (stuttering).

The stuttering works like this: I click, say, the "down" button once and the Mini reacts as if I clicked it twice. This is very annoying.

Now, I have a strange setup: all my AV equipment is in a closet, behind a closed door, probably 15 ft distance and one wall intervening. I know the Mini and Bolt use Bluetooth to communicate with the remote control "peanut" and the RF signal has limited range, especially thru walls. However, I have multiple other devices that use Bluetooth: Roku and Fire TVs, etc and I have NEVER had any of these exhibit this behavior. I suppose it has to do with the actual Bluetooth solution used in the remote/Mini combo, but I have to say, it is subpar.

Does anyone else have this experience? Other than rearranging my entire room to suit the Mini, I cant think of a solution to this. I mean, there is no such thing as a Bluetooth repeater, right?

Bolt and Premiere, Folders

I upgraded one of my two Premieres with a Bolt. But now when I am using the Bolt and connect to shows on the Premiere all the shows are just a long list. Between Premieres they were always in folders of the same show.

Thanks for any help.

SO3 Error Fixed and New 2TB HD EURX installed

First of all, Thanks to Unitron and SBL and others. This is all recent and redundant, but all in one writeup with links to more info. To update the drive you will need Winmfs, Ultimate Boot CD (if PUIS see below) and i did it on windows 10 machine.

Background: I had upgraded my tivo to a 2TB drive but using the old directions so it could only see 1.2 TB and the drive never worked right. I also had the original 500GB drive and a new 1TB drive that I had imaged and replaced. FYI the 1TB drive was a WD BLUE and seemed to work fine. Its this model

http://ift.tt/1VJgoUx

It shipped with intellipark disabled and worked fine out of the box.

I took out the 2TB drive and using the original 500 GB drive made an image and then restored that to a new 1TB drive (the blue) about a month ago and that all worked wonderful (Some learnings will be below but we are still on background) I also set aside the OLD 2TB (that was only 1.2TB) and it sat for a month.

So I started get S03 errors WHICH WERE NOT THE HARD DRIVE! Because I had used the old drive image from years ago, it had not run garbage collection and it had not run it for 2 years (since I used an old image to create) So basically it was updating the guide but had not cleaned up the garbage for years because of the old image. So what did I do but pull the new drive and put the old one in (the 2TB that was 1.2) and since the old but working when I pulled it drive had sat for a month or more, it also threw the S03 error. This was because it too had not done garbage collection in awhile.

Do NOT run Repeat Guided Setup. Do not run Clear & delete everything. You will get stuck in a loop. I verified this:eek:

As referred in this thread, because of the tuning adapter, the garbage collection had not run. You can check the last garbage collection on the system info screens.

The quick solution was to unplug the tuning adapter for several hours and not have anything record and that forced its own garbage collection, which cleared the S03 code and then it was able to update the guide data. I unplugged the tuning adapter from the tivo and from power. Some of that info is from this thread.

http://ift.tt/1VJgoUB

Another way to accomplish it as mentioned is to go to the settings, channel list and then hit enter. (this is some secret voodoo that I guess lets you keep your season passes and to do list maybe?) It will ask to reset up parts of guided setup but I don't think you will get stuck. Supposedly this works and does not reset your season passes. It just clears your program data and reindexes and such. You can also I think run Clear Program information and TODO list, but I think you lose all your setup recordings. I would recommend pulling the drive and backing it up Just in Case before trying the other methods. The best way to try is unplugging the TA completely and see if that forces GC. It worked for me!

Since I already had everything apart in troubleshooting, I figured it would be a good idea to update to a new 2TB since Unitron let me know we can now use all of the 2TB with the latest or at least 11-M version software.

I ordered the Amazon WD20EURX and details to follow, but when placed in the Tivo, it would not even spin up. Turns out even thought it is not supposed to have PUIS mode which means Power UP in Standby, it did and this causes it not to turn on in the Tivo. So it had to be turned off. I did this and then the drive booted perfectly. Note that the drive is not supposed to have that turned on, but it was not a big deal to turn it off if you have The ULtimate Boot CD. Mine boot cd was a few years old and it still had the required HDAT2 program. Here are some links...
The drive I bought...

http://ift.tt/1VJgqvB

Details discussing the HDAT2 on Ultimate Boot CD to check intellipark and Power Up in Standby. Basically boot the drive with UBCD and HDAT2 can be found on the Ultimate Boot CD under: HDD> Diagnosis > HDAT2
Thanks SBL for the quick directions....

Once HDAT2 is running, select the drive you want to check the PUIS setting on, then select command menu > command feature sets. You should see 'Power-Up in Standby (PUIS) feature set' listed at the bottom with a status of enabled or disabled. If enabled, arrow down until the feature set is highlighted then hit return. It will ask for confirmation that you want to change the status. Enter Y to proceed with disabling PUIS.

http://ift.tt/1VJgoUF

After disabling (If it was enabled of course Power Up in Standby, if it was not enabled, do not change anything) then I copied the 1.2TB (again was actually a 2TB disk) using Winmfs and expanded it and supersized it. I recommend deleting most recorded shows so the copy goes faster. It took mine only 30 minutes to copy what remained on the disk

The quick version is to insert both drives into computer. Click on winmfs (i think shift right click to run as administrator) You have to run it as administrator.

Select the from Tivo Drive. Use mfscopy to copy info to the new tivo drive. I selected 2000 as the swap file size. I think this is mass overkill, but its 30 minutes of video for insurance. DO NOT let it expand when the copy is done and make sure not to go to another window while it is copying because the timer will not work afterward. If you accidentally do, just wait till its finished

After it is finished, SWITCH to the new tivo drive in file settings, then check it out with mfsinfo make sure you have the right drive and then run mfsadd to expand it out to 2TB. It will tell you that the partition is larger than 1TB and will not work, but tell it thats okay and do it anyway and it should work fine (mine did)

I am not sure if it can go even bigger, maybe someone else can post if 3TB works. Anyway, then you can click supersize which also works fine and then you are done. Put the new disk in the tivo and boot up. In some expansions you may have to run the kickstart 57, but I think that is not with copying files, but only using images. My suggestion is after you boot succesfully with the new drive and netconnect a few times, pull it out and make an image. Never hurts to have a few images floating around.

Here are links to more details on copying and expanding using winmfs. When only using an image to restore, you can still expand, but you cannot downsize. I tried it several ways and it would not work. So either stay the same size or go larger if copying or using just the backup image. Restoring a backup will probably automatically do the kickstart 57 green screen and run for awhile. If it does not, you have to manually do it. (Only when restoring image, not needed for the copy option most times) On the HD tivo you boot the tivo and watch the green light. When it flashes hit pause immediately and hold it till the yellow and red lights come on. then hit 57 and I think they go out. Wait a bit and it will reboot and go thru a few screens and then the green screen. You should be good to go when it finishes!

Make sure to read Unitron post 7 for detailed info.....

TiVo warranty question

So, I bought a Roamio that had slight symptoms early on, but as I was getting close to the end of the 90 day warranty, they were too much to ignore, so I made a claim. (It was lifetimed.) They just sent me a replacement TiVo, transferring the lifetime onto it, but I see a letter attached saying that while this replacement TiVo also has a warranty, it's only a 30 day warranty.

Does that seem right, that it doesn't carry the same warranty as the original? That just seems a little irregular to me. Hopefully I don't get unlucky and have this one stop working 2 months into it.

SNL: Goodnight Sweet Prince 4/23

Saturday Night Live is airing a special episode tonight with Prince's performances, but the episode is still showing generic guide data here.

OnePass Out of Control

On my new Roamio Pro I got Cinemax. This is my chance to watch Banshee!

I set up a OnePass for the primary Cinemax channel including all seasons an all episodes. I was all set. It might take a few months, but I hoped to get many of the episodes.

I noticed only two episodes recorded after two weeks. Hmm.. I have like 10 Cinemax channels. Why am I only looking at one channel? So I specified "All Channels".

A week later I am excited to see page after page of Banshee episodes! Then I look again. The same two episodes I already had. 53 copies of Season 3 Episode 1 and 29 copies of Season 3 Episode 2. When I deleted them all I gained 5% of disk space back.

Where did I go wrong? How could TiVo be "dumb as a coal bucket"? (as we used to say about computers).

How do I setup the optimal OnePass? I think its one channel, or All.

Thanks
p.s. Looks like Amazon Prime video has season one, so I can get a head start..

Roamio Pro with Minis - Confusion

I recently purchased a Roamio Pro and three Minis. I had coax in the rooms where the 3 Minis were going to be installed but the Charter installer said that I had too much noise on the coax lines and he couldn't tell me why. I previously had AT&T Uverse that used those connections with no problems.
So, since I already had an ethernet connection in one of the rooms, I got my son (who installs & repairs commercial networks) to run ethernet cables to the other two rooms. My router only has four ports so I use a Cisco switch and we hooked everything up and it all works with no flaws.
Here's the problem: Last night, when I went to bed, I had 3 programs recording at the same time on the Tivo. My wife was upstairs, watching a live tv show via one of the Minis. I turned on the tv in my bedroom and it said that all the channels were in use.
*Since the Roamio Pro has six tuners and we were only using four tuners when I turned on the tv to use the fifth tuner, shouldn't there have been an available tuner?

One Pass no good on Night Manager

Since the Night Manager on AMC has been shown on BBC previously, my One Pass doesn't record the shows. I am doing it manually; but will be going out of town. Is there a way to just set to record a time slot for a particular day of the week?

Flaky streaming

Why is Tivo streaming so flaky? I have been a heavy user of this, but have found it to be extremely unrealiable. I've used it for months in Denmark while I was away from home. I've used it in hotels all the way across the country. I just never know when it will work. When I access Netflix it almost invariably works perfectly, meaning the network hosting the Tivo App is not the problem.

Just last week I was trying to watch from my daughter's house in MD. My Tivo is in Tucson. The network in Tucson shows upload speeds of 9 mbps on 2.4 GHz, 12+ on 5GHz, download speeds are 120 mbps. I have a new ac1900 state of the art router. In MD, I also upgraded their router to an AC1900. They have FIOS and so get 30+ mbps both up and down. The connection was pretty much unusable the whole 12 days we were there.

The one time I tried to stream in house, it totally failed. What? That's supposed to be the easy case.

I often see a pattern where it will fail, fail, fail, not connect at all for a few minutes and then all of sudden work correctly. As a software developer, this makes me think that the system has restarted. It is as if over time the running system accumulates problems (memory leak perhaps). Then the stress of trying to stream exacerbates the issue to the point where the system reboots. With a fresh reboot it works.

I have looked, but there is NO apparent way to remotely reboot the system. This would be a good addition as far as I am concerned. Yes I understand there are potential problems with programs currently recording.

Since streaming first came out it has improved enormously, but it still really needs work.

And why isn't Skip supported? That should be very easy to add.

Can anyone help me understand why the Tivo streaming is so flaky?

-Bob

Slow Roamio Pro?

Recently (last few months) my Roamio Pro has developed a terrible sluggishness. Whenever I select a new screen, it takes meany seconds for the screen to refresh. Often it leaves a black screen up during this time. I see no reason for this at all. As a software developer myself, I cannot imagine allowing this to persist in the software. I don't remember this happening before.

What might be going on here? Is it a bad upgrade? Something else?

Tivo Bolt with Esata cable added

My sister has been on me ever since see saw bpunc's post with his external hard drive enclosure. ( http://ift.tt/1To6OCE )
Well I finally got around to doing it and she was very pleased to say the least, I did order the cable that bpunc suggested and took it one step further and went and mounted the esata end of the cable into the rear of the Tivo.

It took me about three hours of fiddling around with the dremal tool and a xacto knife and it was done, I also ordered up the DVRdaddy enclosure and the WD 3TB Green AV-rated (EURX) on the advice of ggieseke and some others.
The end result is a Bolt with 478 hr's of HD recording space, needless to say my sister is now a happy camper :)

Just thought I would share my experience, and to anyone thinking of trying this mod take some advice, just take your time.

Tivo menu weirdness...

When I start at My Shows (Premiere at least, standard menus) and I choose a show to watch (pre-recorded), I hit the right arrow (or select I suppose) and it starts playing that show. When I hit left arrow, it stops playing that show, and brings me back to the My Shows menu... good, makes sense.

However, if in My Shows, I choose a show that is currently being recorded, it starts playing, I watch to the end maybe, and hit left arrow, I somehow get thrown into *another* currently-recording show, NOT back to the My Shows menu. That seems weird why it would jump into another show that is totally unrelated to the show I just watched...
