Two quick streambaby questions

New to Streambaby so hoping for a few small answers. Just discovered this and boy am I excited.

1) If I have a file that is at 1080p resolution does Streambaby play it at that resolution ? It seems to be close to some video files but, some files on my nas seem to be sort of washed out despite being HD.

2) Is there a way to prevent the long loading screens when folders have multiple files. I feel like I'm waiting forever?

does tivo roamio have better ota reception then tivo hd

I just got a 50.00 gift card for best buy so im think of getting a roamio to replace my TiVo hd. There are 2 channels I cant get on my TiVo hd. will the reception be better on roamio?

Major UI Change

Yesterday my TiVo UI changed significantly. It looks like the UI might have looked many years ago. The guide is now transparent and overlaid on whatever is playing instead of filling the screen with the PiP in the upper right. When I push the TiVo button I get a simple menu with no PiP and no suggestions along the top. When viewing the list of recordings it's also a simple list with no description and no PiP. The descriptions of shows have the cast members listed first and the original air date is nowhere to be found.

In settings it shows that my version is 20.4.5c. I have a Series 4 that I bought independently of any cable company.

I restarted it but that didn't help. I searched through these forums and the web but the only "major" UI change appears to be a new font.

What happened here? How do I get the "current" UI back?

Tivo Remote Codes

Ok, this is a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone knows if any of the Tivo remote codes uses the default address of 00 for its NEC IR format encoding.

Roamio Plus and 2 Mini - Resolution Question on both

Hi everyone, I received my Roamio Plus and 2 mini and completed the setup. So far so good, some getting used to, miss the lack of menu duration TWC offered but my main question is this.

My Roamio Plus is set to 1080p 60fps and that is the only option i have checked and it seems to be working fine even though i have TWC and they only stream in 1080i. I set it to 1080p because i use Netflix, Amazon and Youtube apps as well.

Now I noticed the Mini is completely different, it offers 1080 pass through only mode only which i can only assume it is 24fps not 60fps?

1. Is it fine to leave the Roamio to just 1080p 60fps as the only resolution?

2. I assume the best option for the Mini is to use 1080 pass through only mode?

Thanks

SAMSUNG Smart Media Player vs TiVo Roamio

http://ift.tt/1toEhyk

This Samsung Smart Media Player with cable card is $150, which is the same price as the 4 tuner Tivo Roamio (on sale).

Now the Samsung has no monthly service fee. But my question is if you purchase the TiVo without service fee, will it still work to watch Live TV?

I am thinking the Samsung may be a false economy since with the TiVo if you change your mind you can always activate the service fee (or pay for lifetime) and then you have a fully operational TiVo.

But if the TiVo doesn't work as a converter box then I am wrong.

Are cable company employees are trained to try to sabotage your attempts not rent?

About a month ago I picked up a used Premiere and went to my local TWC office to get a cablecard. They didn't have any, but she took my contact info to let me know when they could get one in. I didn't feel like waiting so I went home and ordered one online. It showed up in two days. After that, I more or less forgot about the interaction for a while.

Earlier this week a modem I had ordered arrived. I called to get it activated and after a while the tech said it should work. It didn't. I said that I would reboot it, tech support 101, and he said not to do that. Uh, what? Instead we would see if the TWC modem worked! I said okay, sat down the phone, and rebooted the new modem anyway. It worked, of course, after the reboot he told me not to do.

After that head scratcher, I took my modem back to my local TWC office. The lady there apologized to me for not giving me a cablecard as apparently TWC is just completely out of them. I calmly told her that I had ordered one online and it arrived in 48 hours. She shifted uncomfortably as I told her happy holidays and left.

Two employee interactions, one obvious bit of bad tech advice and one flat out lie. Are they counciling their employees to try to subtly sabotage attempts to use your own equipment or was it just two coincidental cases of incompetence? I mean fool me once...

How to get OTA w/Series2 TCD540040

I have to cut the cord with cable since I just can't afford it. I know beyond nothing about TiVo. Most of the acronyms I'm seeing are unknown.

I got a really cheap Series 2 box that supposedly has "lifetime" service. I have an internal antenna. I have an HDTV. I plugged the things together, and was able to do some of the SetUp, but it wouldn't do a "channel search."

Is there any way that I'll be able to see/save shows for free? Do I need an adapter? Which ones?

Also, how do I confirm if it really has no month fee required?

Sorry for the (probably) stupid questions.

Blacklist catchup question

Hi All,

I'm just now catching up a bunch of episodes and just finished the one where the poachers were being caught, killed and either taxidermy-ed or skinned. I had to read a recap to realize that the guy behind the locked door is Tom, our heroine's husband/spy. But I don't remember seeing how she captured him.

I don't want to go back and re-watch some episodes so if someone can give me a quick recap on how she got him I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Gerry

Roamio vs Premiere - OTA

I currently have a Premiere with lifetime service, and we recently ditched Comcast, leaving us with an attic antenna. This antenna works perfectly with the four big networks plus PBS, so we're happy with it--and it works perfectly with our TVs' internal tuners.

The TiVo Preimere appears to be VERY choosy about signal strength. I feed it from the 8 dB amplifier/splitter that feeds the two TVs, and it's overdriven. I install a 6 dB attenuator on the line to the TiVo, and I get the channels, but they're pixelated unless the antenna is aiming in a very specific, perfect direction--a problem I don't get with the [probably superior] tuners in the TVs.

Does the Roamio have a better tuner than the Premiere? Also, if I do this, I'd have an unneeded Premiere with lifetime; is there any market out there for these things?

Thanks!

Premiere No HBO, but Roamio ok

So, I upgraded my cable service with Comcast today to include HBO and Showtime. When I got home my Roamio (with Cable Card) showed the new channels immediately without any added pairing. My Premiere (with Cable Card) doesn't show the new channels. I'm assuming I have to go through the dreaded repairing on the Premiere unit. Everything else is fine. Any shortcut to this? Restart the Premiere unit??

3 Days to NFL wildcard and Tivo still does not have the right schedule

Kirkland, WA, Comcast

ESPN listing should show "Arizona at Carolina" at 1:20 PM Pacific (4:20 PM ET), but it doesn't show any NFL game scheduled for broadcast on Saturday.

NBC listing for Saturday should show "Baltimore at Pittsburg" at 5:15 PM, but instead it shows a wildcard game starting at 1:30 PM (teams TBA).

What the hell is this?

I have forced a connection to Tivo but the schedule is still out of date.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Horrible inaccurate data for show info

First I will say that I have noticed this issue for several years and occasional pops up on various shows.

The problem. Inaccurate show information. I don't mean that the info says that it's mythbusters, and it's something else. I am talking about where it says mythbusters episode "bug special" then the season and episode info is incorrect.

Science channel started a mythbusters marathon to run ever episode supposedly in sequential order, all 255 episodes.

yet there are huge errors in what is being reported in show info for season and episode number. They are horribly incorrect on 86.3% of the episodes. Sometimes the episode number is correct but season is off. Example it will say season 8, episode 1 when it's really season 9

Plus the listing is all out of order so some recordings aren't the actual episode at being shown at all. Without checking each of the 255 episodes it's hard to say which episode ur watching till you watch it.

I realize TiVo gets this data from tribune media, but we don't have a direct communication line with tribune media.

So I ask any other mythbusters fan to call in to TiVo and complain. Hopefully if their call centers get flooded with complains like this then they just might do something about it. Then again not.

If mythbusters wasn't copy protected and I could download it to my computer it would be an easy but time consuming fix.

Ugg... Sorry for my rant, I am just very OCD about having to watch series in the order it was released, broadcast, or sequential order.

Romio OTA AVR/hookup?

I am just now cutting the cord with directv..I have been using a new Denon E-400 AVR and have had great 5.1 surround sound..I bought a channel master dvr...it wont connect with the avr even though it uses hdmi out..so I bought a OTA Romio, I thought I read somewhere that it will go through the AVR Denon...then out to the TV so I can get my surround back..I did hook up a Digital optical out from TV to the Denon AVR and all I can get is stereo..no 5 channel sound at all..

Has anyone hooked up through their AVR for surround sound with the OTA Romio?...Help is appreciated thanks..

Mini stream question

Can the mini see recordings from a two turned priemer? I know it can't do live tv. I don't need that as I have two Roamios. But I would like it to be able to play recorded shows from it if possible.

Recording/taking TiVo elsewhere

Can I record programs on my TiVo and unplug it and take it to a mountain cabin and watch the recordings. The cabin does not have cable or direct TV or internet.

Cannot see Netgear ReadyNAS RN104 content in My Shows

I archived some TiVo shows to my Netgear ReadyNAS RN104. The shows seemed to archive fine and I can see them through the Netgear interface. But I cannot see the archived shows on the ReadyNAS in My shows. Also, I can't see the ReadyNAS as a device under My Shows.

I have Samsung Smart TVs on the network. They can see the ReadyNAS fine. They also see apps on the ReadyNAS such as PLEX and DVBLink.

Also, the cable modem/router is a Netgear AC1750. I have a regular harddrive attached to it as ReadyShare. Both of theTiVo boxes and the Smart TVs can see the Netgear ReadyShare, but only the Smart TVs can see the ReadyNAS.

I am running version 6.2.0. I had upgraded to 6.2.2, but it seemed to cause network instability with the ReadyDLNA Service. So I went back to 6.2.0.

Does anyone know why I can't see the ReadyNAS under the TiVo My Shows?

A modest suggestion for the "To Do" list

It would be nice if the "to do" list also showed a column indicating how many tuners are active. I know they show when scheduled recordings begin, but there is no way to assess how many are active at once since you have to remember when each program ends.

Barring that, then some visual clue when on the upcoming schedule you have reached or exceed 4 (or 6 tuners) as appropriate.

Right now, you may be bothered to see the priority took over and you lost a program you didn't really want to lose. With too many season passes you may screw up the priorities inadvertently.

Steaming and Tivo Premiere XL4s

I made a fascinating discovery today and one that I couldn't find supporting documentation for. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough?

Basically my understanding was that only the the Tivo Roamio Pros (and maybe Pluses) had built in streaming capabilities along with built in wii-fi. Lo and behold, as I was playing around with my iPhone Tivo app and my Premiere XL4, I realized that not only could I stream recorded shows from the XL4 I could also download shows to the device.

I now also own a Tivo Roamio Pro but as near as I can tell, the main advantage now is that the Pro has 6 tuners vs. the XL4's 4.

Am I missing something here? Was there perhaps a recent software update that gave the TiVO Premiere XL4's additional capabilities?

I had thought that only a TivO stream device would have allowed this kind of streaming from non Roamio Pros.

Wife Approval

I had the original TiVo's and, by the looks of the forum saying my last visit was 4/15/2004, I haven't had one in 10 years. I hated Comcast DVR/software. Dish was ok. I have been with DirecTV for almost 4 years now and I'm out of contract. In looking at going back to Comcast for another promotional pricing period, I started looking at TiVo and I want it back again so bad! I have a few questions first about my understanding of how the new system works:

- I plug in a Roamio Plus or Pro and it has the MoCA bridge built in. So if it has a live Ethernet connection, it will feed any Mini's I add to the system.

- I can now add TiVo Mini's to the system and they will function just like the main Roamio with only a Coax connection.

- The Roamio will need a CableCard from Comcast. I have read some ugly stuff, but overall it seems that they work, even with VOD. Does VOD also work on the Mini's?

- Do you have to pay a montly fee to Comcast for the Mini's, or does it look to them like you only have 1 TV? Or is there a slot on each Mini for a CC?

My last question is, how do I sell this to the wife? We currently have 3 networked DVR's and 1 HD receiver that can pull from all of the DVR's. So my upfront cost to get 4 TV's is pretty high. I'm thinking I ease into that. If my math is right though, it looks like the "investment" would be paid for in about 2 years. We currently pay $165 between DTV and Comcast internet. I would be locked in at $90 for 2 years with Comcast, plus the $15/mo for the TiVo service on the Roamio. I would be at $130 if I rented the boxes from Comcast, and that would go to $140 after a 12 month promotion on the X1 box.

Well I hope to be posting here soon as a "new" TiVo owner! Thanks for any help you can provide.

Premier Xl4 vs Roamio Plus

Premier Xl4 brand new is $200

Roamio Plus brand new is $320

Comparing the older and the newer model seems easy. Two extra tuners and built in streaming for an extra $120. If you want the extra capacity it is priced well.

Is there any other differences in specifications? Like download speed or remote capabilities.

Downloading TiVo Recordings

I am having problems downloading a show from my TiVo recordings. I have used TiVo Transfer to downloaded several 1 hr shows from a TV series and they are all 1.18Gb file size. There is one show, however, that downloads only 11 minutes and the file size is 220Mb. I have also tried downloading it with both cTiVo and kmttg, but still get the 220Mb file that is only the first 11 minutes of the show. The problem show does play completely on TV and streams to my iPad. Don’t know what is going on?

So, the mini is not wireless

huh, I guess I just assumed it was.

So, I need some help understanding. We have 5 TVs. I would like to possibly get one Romio and 4 minis.

We don't have enough ethernet ports for these so I would have to get more.

But the woman on the phone also said a coax cable would work. Does that mean only through cable or even through cable wiring (we currently have an antenna hooked up through all of our cable wires.)

How would it be hooked up differently if we were to get cable TV through a cable company?

Thanks

TiVo iPad App - captions always on

Love the iPad app when using with the Roamio Plus but I'm frustrated that the close captioning is always on on video playback. Anyone know how to turn it off? The "CC" button in the upper right has no effect.

State of Affairs

It's been on for 20 minutes and it's already difficult taking a Marilyn Monroe wannabe (however gentle on the eyes she is for you guys) seriously as a high level White House top "gal." Bad enough we have her pegged as an oversexed gal-typecast.

But I find her unbelievable as a serious contender for anything, thus, IMO, miscast. From what I've seen so far, it could be a good show with someone else in Heigl's part.

People in the White House and Senate are quite well-educated and intellectually competitive, so she really grates with her repeated "where you at?" I don't believe the writers put that in for her. But anyway, another unbelievability.

I'm not sure if I'll make it to the end. I will try to like it.

Broke HDMI Port Today - Can MoBo be swapped on a S3?

Bought a new HDMI cable today and thought it felt a little funny connecting. Once powered up, My Tivo would show the Welcome screen, then go to black. My Yamaha receiver interprets it is the Tivo powering down and goes to a screen saver.

I looked at the port carefully, and pin 17 (DDC/CEC Ground) was missing. Looking inside, I found it laying on the motherboard. There is no way I can resolder that pin.

Since the Tivo can clearly display HDMI output in the form of the Welcome screen, I assume there is some check of the HDMI that goes on after that point (?).

The power supply looks good (Capxon, but they look pristine). HD is a WD10EURX that has been acting up a little lately requiring restarts. I had put it into Standby before powering down.

So, what are my choices? Can the motherboard be swapped out? Will I have to pay Tivo $149 to do it in order to transfer my lifetime service? Or is pin 17 irrelevant and I have another problem on my hands besides the HDMI port?

TIA

Roamio and Comcast

I currently have Comcast X1 boxes. Probably paying around $50 a month for boxes and DVR service. Thinking about picking up a Roamio and a couple mini's instead. My house is already wired so the Comcast Boxes can all stream shows from the main DVR. Guessing this means it is already configured for MOCA, but I'm not really sure. Would I need to buy anything else so that the Minis can work?

Any other ideas of things I need to consider before taking the plunge?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

TWC and Cablecards: Why is it still hard?

I know it's crazy to expect, but why aren't we beyond the point where ordering cable cards is difficult? I decided to jump on a TWC promo for only $12 more add HBO and basic cable to my internet plan. Figured I might as well get some use out of the TiVo Roamio Plus is storage. Placed the order online via their website, selected the cable card option, the order looked good, it listed the SDV box and everything. This is going to be as painless as it should be! I noticed I hadn't gotten any confirmation since yesterday so I gave the online chat a shot:

Quote:

...

James: Ok, let me check the notation why it still here. I'll be pulling up your account please stay connected Chad.

You: Sounds good, thanks

James: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.

You: No problem

James: Sorry for the delay Chad, let me add it to your order now and generate the order number for you. Please bear with me.

You: Sounds good, thanks

James: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.

You: No problem

James: Chad I know now why your order did'nt push through. The Starter TV with HBO package requires a BOX, it won't work with just a cable card.

You: Why?

You: Especially since I was given the option of a cable card during the order

James: Because you need the box to receive the HBO premium channel Chad.

You: I have a box, that takes the cable card to decrypt the channel

You: I assure you it'll work with HBO

James: Roku box?

You: Nope. TiVo

James: Let me try for you okay?

You: Is there a number I can call to get this resolved, clearly this method isn't effective

James: I am now trying it. LEt me help you with this.

You: Alright

James: We're both Lucky Chad, my supervisor is here and we found a work around :)

You: Excellent

James: So you can pick up your equipment with the nearest TWC store in your area.

James: The nearest is tomorrow.

You: Nope, it's sadly not offered for pickup in WI

You: Which is why there's shipping on the order. Oddly enough I have to pay for shipping even though the local places don't have it

James: Okay let me check that option for your Chad, please bear with me.

You: No problem

You: I wish I could just pick it up

James: I'll be right with you.

You: No problem

James: Chad you're getting luckier, I was able to waived the mail out fees for you :)

...

I had hoped that it wouldn't take my "luck" to get it ordered and processed correctly and that by going online it'd remove the human component. Now hopefully I'll get the correct parts in the mail! :D Maybe one day getting cablecards will be as easy as picking up a cablebox.

1) TiVo Stream seamlessly delivers content stored on any 4-tuner TiVo Roamio or Premiere Series DVR to mobile devices such as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

2) Even when you’re out of the house, you can tap into your home DVR and stream shows to your devices.

3) TiVo Stream allows for simultaneous streaming of content to as many as four devices around the home.

4) It also lets you download shows to your iOS devices for viewing out of the home.

I am getting confusing instructions from RCN customer center. I have a, Samsung note 3 with Internal 16 GB, and 3 GB RAM.

It works in the house to for shows saved to DVR.

Out of the house I am geting "TiVo DVR is not set up to allow streaming".

A) From sentence 2) above it sounds like it should work.

B) The RCN rep says you must download all video files at the house as they cannot be streamed remotely

C) RCN customer service says they can't download to Android, only Apple products.

What is the correct scoop? Does Android only work in the house? Is this an RCN limitation or a TiVo limitation?

Series 3 HD roll back

TiVo S3 HD

A few years ago I upgraded my 160 GB internal drive to 1TB (supersized).

Now I am trying to go from the 1TB to a 2TB drive but I get errors like "Backup drive not large enough.... " and if I try a truncated backup other errors. (I've been through all the posts on only being able to expand once) See attached jpg

However with the mfs live CD I can backup my original 160GB drive to the 2TB drive and expand with no problems.

My question is: What happens if I put the 2TB drive in my TiVo with the (Old)160GB image on it?

Will the TiVo gods crap on me or will it upgrade and work happily ever after?

I have a lifetime subscription on this TiVo box

Best One season of any TV show

I pulled out my Seinfeld S4 DVD the other day and was looking at the list of episodes, and I realized this might have been the greatest season of TV I've ever watched.

What's your choice for greatest one season of any TV series?

Transfers not working

2 days ago I added a Tivo Roamio Plus to my account. Now I have a Premiere 4xl, Premiere, and the Roamio Plus.

I was trying to transfer 10 episodes of a show to the Roamio Plus using pyTivo.

It transferred the first 7 episodes then stopped. Now, neither the Roamio Plus nor the Premiere can transfer any shows using pyTivo or from another tivo. (Curiously the Premiere 4xl still works fine.)

Now if I try and transfer anything to the Roamio or the Premiere i get the message saying it will transfer later after current transfers have completed.

There are no current transfers though. This same behaviour occurs whether i'm hitting pyTivo or another Tivo box.

Transfers are enabled on all boxes.

I've re-booted everything, all tivos, the pyTivo server, and the router. I've cleared any scheduled transfers from the todo list. Still the same behaviour.

This started happening yesterday afternoon. Its almost as if there is something "stuck" somewhere that I can't see. pyTivo gives no errors... it shows the GET message correctly then does nothing.

What is my next step for troubleshooting?

Tivo Roamio Wireless Speed - Wireless-N Adapter compatible?

After having a premiere for a few years in one apartment - I got a Roamio almost a year ago for a 2nd apartment. In the past year due to work situations changing, I gave up the 2nd apartment and now have both Tivo's in the same place - the premiere in the bedroom and the roamio in the living room. The premiere has a Tivo wireless-N adapter attached, the roamio using the built-in wireless. The layout of the apartment does not make hard-wiring connections practical. The modem/router is in the same room as the roamio and the diagnostic screen shows 100% signal.

While using pyTivo to transfer files to the roamio - I would get speeds usually in the high 2's or low 3's Mb/s. I didn't think much of it -- just chalking it up "that's lousy wireless speed for you". A couple of months went by and my wife wanted something transferred to the bedroom (which we hardly ever do) and so I sent the files to the premiere via pyTivo. Expecting the normal transfer times - I was very surprised when I looked at the computer just a few moments later and saw the transfer was complete. The premiere received the file (while being in a completely different room from both my laptop sending the file and the router) nearly 5x faster.

Now realizing that what I was seeing from the roamio is probably not normal - I started doing some experimenting.

Send to roamio from laptop: Slow

Send to premiere from laptop: Fast

Transfer a show from premiere to roamio: Slow

Transfer a show from Roamio to Premiere: Fast

String ethernet across the floor from the roamio to the router: *Really* fast (as expected).

I've tried to eliminate all things besides the roamio (resetting the box - repeating setup, etc).

I even went so far as bringing in a whole new router/modem just to make sure that it wasn't the issue. No change. Everything behaves as described.

The only thing left is the Roamio. Everything else has been eliminated.

First - what are other experiences with Roamio transfer speeds? I'm assuming other people see at least speeds on par with the premiere, correct?

Second - because I am not looking forward to dealing with support and going through the pain-in-the-ass it will be to first get them to confirm that it is a problem with the wireless in the box .. and then the hassle of dealing with a repair - I'm wondering if I can use a wireless-N adapter on the roamio? Has anybody used the wireless-N adapter with the box? I read on their site that it is not officially supported (because you shouldn't need it with the roamio) - but that it *should* work.

Error 51

I would like to confirm that once you have an error #51 there is no other option but clear and delete everything or 51killer if the box is already modded.

C&DE - all recordings lost but unit will work again

51killer - recordings will work if previously modded

My kids said their Tivo didn't work so trying to solve the problem with a quick 10 minute swap, I took the drive from their S3 OLED tivo and transferred it to another S3 OLED tivo before backing up or looking online to see if there would be a problem. :(

After getting the error 51 on the drive with their shows, replacing it in the original has resulted in the same error 51. I don't recall if I modded either unit although I think both drives were upgraded previously.

What is the easiest way to see if the unit was modded so 51killer can save the recordings?

Can the recordings be saved externally and replaced after the C&DE? (I think I already know the answer but figured I'd ask)

Is there any known way to see the recordings again on the original box if it was not modded?

I don't see any newer similar threads on a search, the last few are several years old now.

Thanks!

Fire TV stick from Amazon - will it work with Tivo

There was another thread about this but it derailed and I couldn't really find an answer.

We have two Tivo boxes. One new and one a little bit older. I used to be able to access Amazon and download movies onto the older box, but it has disappeared in the interface for some reason. If anyone knows why this happened let me know please! It's still on the new box but the new system is horrible (I think in terms of interface) so our main tv has the older box.

Being an amazon prime account holder, I went ahead and ordered the Fire stick.

Does anyone know if it will work with Tivo? New and older boxes?

Amazon Prime won't launch

Anyone else? I can't get it to launch ony any of my Tivo devices

Sounds

How do I mute the clicking noises that happen when you utilize the TiVo remote? I read through the posts and did not see this question posted so I apologize in advance if it has already been addressed.

I don't watch much broadcast TV anymore

I was just pruning my Season Pass Manager of canceled shows. Out of curosity I counted the ones on network stations and those on cable channels. I have 97 total Season Passes, only 37 of them are for shows on broadcast channels. So about 2/3 of what I watch is apparently from cable now, and that doesn't count the stuff I watch on Netflix, Amazon or Vudu. So apparently cutting the cord is not really an option for me.

Anyway just an observation.

Guide data for NatGeo Wild HD?

This is not a channel we watch with any regularity, but during this weekend, we've stumbled on a couple of shows that we might want to add to our season passes. We have also noted that the guide data for this channel has been completely wrong during this weekend. Not merely time-shifted, but the TiVo Live Guide shows a bunch of programs that are not on the NGW web site schedule at any point in the near future, and likewise the shows that are currently being shown are not anywhere to be found in the Live Guide.

I checked on zap2it to see if the guide data there was equivalently corrupted, and they don't even acknowledge NGW as a channel!

So I'm wondering a) where the TiVo guide data comes from, and b) how can I ask them to sync up with the actual program schedule, so my season passes for NGWHD actually wind up recording the programs I want to record?

I did submit a report on the TiVo.com web site, but that promises a "response" within 5-7 days, and I would like to see resolution sooner than that.

Music

TIVO Romeo button for Music and Photos now only shows 5 options (Pandora, Spotify etc) with no link to add more services or a link to my NAS which was there last week.

We have rebooted Tivo and the NAS to no avail.

Note HD Tivo in another part of the house does show NAS.

Suggested fixes please.

Premiere with increasing pixelation, cancelled recordings

We're having pixelation problems with our Tivo Premiere that have bene increasing in severity over the last couple of months. The recorded picture is unwatchable with pixelation, audio dropouts and jumping around. This Tivo is connected to Verizon Fios.

What's starting to happen now is that if the pixelation is really bad, we lose the recording completely -- gone from the Tivo, history, to do list, deleted items, everywhere. Football on Fox seems to be particularly prone to this vanishing recording problem.

I did notice today that while watching live, there didn't seem to be any pixelation. That same program when watched off the Tivo recording had heavy pixelation. So, wouldn't that suggest that the Tivo is the problem?

I'm running the Tivo Kickstart 54 hard drive test right now -- everything OK so far.

I've used various attenuators to bring the SNR to 31-34 or so. The Verizon Fios tech has been here and checked everything on Verizon's end.

What's really strange is that the bedroom Tivo HD hooked to an OTA antenna has similar problems to a lesser degree. Verizon definitely isn't the culprit there, as that TV doesn't have cable hooked up.

Roamio Plus Bandwidth Limitations?

I setup a Roamio Plus and 3 Minis a few days ago and noticed some stuttering video on two of the Minis while transferring shows from a Permier. Was wondering if what I was experiencing was a bandwidth or processing power limitation of the Roamio? Here is my setup:

- Verizon Fios service. Coax connects from ONT to the house's coax network (hooks up to the input of a 4-way splitter). Cat5 from ONT to Linksys AC1900 router. MI424WR Rev I router reconfigured (DHCP disabled, etc) to simply create a Moca network and is on the same subnet as the Linksys. Coax from splitter to the Fios router. Cat5 from Fios router LAN to Linksys LAN.

- One Roamio Pus and three Minis, all connected over Moca and utilize the MI424WR's moca network (Roamio is not creating its own Moca network). The Roamio and Minis are the only devices on the Moca network

- Roamio and Minis all report Tx/Rx rates from 240 to 260 from the Tivo network status menu

- Basic Premiere model that is being replaced is also temporarily connected to the Linksys LAN over cat5 in order to transfer 30 hours or so of HD programming to the Roamio.

- All splitters in the house are new and from Verizon with a frequency rating of 5-1675mhz

While transferring the tv shows from the Premiere to the Roamio, I noticed that I could not have more than two of the Minis streaming live tv and not have stuttering video (Roamio was also playing back live tv). If I started live tv streaming on the third Mini, that Mini and one of the existing Minis that was already streaming would start with stuttering video after about 2-4 minutes of streaming. If I stopped streaming live tv on one of the Minis, the stuttering would also stop and live tv would stream smoothly on the other two Minis. This was not limited to a specific channel and rebooting the Minis did not solve the issue. If I chose to stream Netflix, for example, on the third Mini (instead of live tv), the other two Minis would not experience the stuttering video. Again, only live tv simultaneously streaming on all 3 Minis would produce the stuttering (while shows were transferring from the Premiere).

So basically, no more than two Minis could stream live tv smoothly while shows were transferring to the Roamio. Once all the shows had been transferred, then I could stream live tv to all of the Minis simultaneously without any stuttering. Does this sound like normal behavior, a network bandwidth issue, or a Roamio bandwidth/processing power issue?

I also had a weird experience with the Roamio that after several hours after the shows had transferred and was watching live tv, the Roamio all of a sudden rebooted and went into a reboot loop. The only way I could get it out of the loop was to disconnect the coax, let it boot up, settle down, then reconnect the coax. Everything seems to be working fine now but was wondering if this was something that I should be concerned with?

thumb up to record strange happening

anyone notice the thumb up notice to record a program that is already recording? There were no pop ups either that advertise shows

TiVo Roamio OTA and Roku streaming stick

I have these 2 items.

LOVE the Tivo! Never have a buffering or connection issue. Love that the remote controls the TV.

Meh on the Roku. Worked good for 1 week, now I can't get thru any show without it buffering every min or so. Called Roku, unplugged router and stick. Didn't fix the issue.

Contemplating taking it back and getting the Fire stick. I do want a remote. I'd get a mini but that would require a wired connection in some way.

Anyone have an opinion on the Fire stick?

Guide update defect - READ IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO RECORD AFC GAME!

Also put this in the season pass area, but since it's not just for season pass thought I'd put it here as well....

Confirmed today with Tivo. NFL game (Cincy at Pgh) rescheduled from 1pm to 8:20pm on NBC today (28 Dec). NFL changed the time/network a full week ago. Tivo.com shows guide correctly. TVGuide, and Zap2it shows it correctly. Verizon DVR has no issue whatsoever with it.

Tivo Roamio Pro (both) and Tivo Premier as well as Minis all show Cincy at Pgh still playing at 1pm. Shows NFL "TBA" in program guide on NBC at 8:20pm.

Checked Tivos - all had already made successful connection earlier today.

Forced connection with all Tivos.

Restarted Roamio Pro.

Finally, with support, cleared program data and went through guided setup all over again on Roamio Pro.

No change in data. Had I not manually checked, the game would NOT have recorded - period. Tivo validated that there is apparently a defect in the guide update process and cannot explain the issue. This is not the first issue by far, but is the first one I noticed in advance enough to create a manual recording.

Want to transfer Tivo recordings to DVD

Since I use Tivo Roamio with Time Warner Cable and am not able to save some if not all of my movies to mp4, DVD or other format, if I purchase a VHS to DVD recorder, can I transfer all my recorded VHS movies that I record to VHS to a DVD?

In other words, though I have the above setup, I also have a Analog TV (Toshiba Model No MW24FNR3) that records my VHS movies.

So can my recorded VHS movies be transferred to DVD? If so, what is a good VHS to DVD Recorder to purchase?

Thanks

Is there a remote control hidden in the Android app?

The Android app isn't too bad. I find it quite handy. But if there is a standard remote control in there I can't find it. Is there?

Netflix experience faster on Mini as opposed to Premiere?

My current setup is a Premiere 4 with 3 Tivo Minis. I immediately noticed that the Netflix app loads considerably faster on the Tivo Minis-- so much so that I am thinking of putting the Premiere 4 in the basement as the recording hub, and just using the 3 Minis throughout the house. Has anyone else noticed a peppier Netflix experience with the Mini? Also, it stumps me because I was told by Tivo support that the mini pulls the Netflix app from the host box (in this case the Premiere). My experience would seem to indicate that this is not true.

New remote(s) barely working

I have the Roamio Plus and use a cable card. I purchased the Roamio when it first came out and the original remote still works. However, I dropped the remote countless times and it's difficult to access the buttons. Therefore, I bought a new remote. Actually, I ended up buying 2 remotes.

I bought the first one on eBay from a reputable seller. It would work for a moment or two and then not at all. Only the IR controls worked, volume and on/off. The light by the TiVo button flashed amber for about a minute. When I pressed other buttons while amber light was flashing, the light by the TiVo button would go red. A call to TiVo support determined that the remote was defective.

So, I bought remote #2, this time from WeaKnees. I didn't have as many problems with this remote at first, but now I do. Again with the amber light blinking for about a minute at times during which time the remote was inoperative. After it stopped blinking, at first (day one) it would work as normal with one exception. It took a while to get a reaction after pressing a button or I would have to press a button several times. It is now day 2 and it rarely works. It seems to only work after taking out and putting back in the cable card. And then, only for a few moments. I've also tried rebooting the Roamio to no avail. The IR controls work OK, i.e., volume and on/off.

I find it hard to believe that the remote is the problem. What are the chances of getting 2 bad remotes consecutively? Meanwhile, my original remote still works.

Thanks for any suggestions.

PyTiVoX with Roamio and Yosemite

Has anyone gotten PyTiVoX to work under Yosemite with their Roamio? I looked for my Mac under both Apps & Games and My Shows to no avail. I have also tried restarting the Roamio as well as manually entering in the IP address all to no avail. I saw something where you can edit a "beacon =" value in the pytivo.conf file but I am unable to locate that file on my Mac. Any ideas?

Controlling Slingbox Player with TiVo Bluetooth Remote

This may be more of a Sling/Windows question than a TiVo question, but I'm hoping someone else here may have done what I'm trying to do, or something similar.

I am setting up my laptop with the new Slingbox desktop application which controls a Slingbox M1 with a TiVo Mini connected to it. I have the app working as intended.

When I am watching through the Slingplayer app, I would like to control the TiVo with a real TiVo remote. So far, I have almost everything working. I have a TiVo bluetooth remote configured to press the correct keys that the Sling app expects for most of the buttons. I used a freeware app called "LM Remote Keymap" which lets me intercept the button presses from the bluetooth remote and send the key that the Sling app expects.

The problem is that there doesn't appear to be a keyboard equivalent for the "TiVo" button on the remote, or for a couple other buttons. Most buttons are a simple letter equivalent: P for Play, R for Rewind, L for Live TV, etc.

Does anyone know how to change the expected keyboard key in the Sling program? Is there a remote control keyboard map file somewhere, or some other way to modify it? Or does someone know what key the sling app wants for the TiVo button or the thumbs buttons?

Other than a few buttons not working, this setup has been great so far. I can connect my laptop to an HDTV in the hotel room, place the sling app in fullscreen mode, and use an actual TiVo remote to control it as if I were sitting at home. (It has to be in fullscreen mode for the remote to work; I think this is a bug in the Sling software.)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Which division of TiVo is most profitable?

I think as we all know that Hardware is the loss leader, and the attempt is simply to break even. There was a small (3.5%) drop in hardware sales.

-----------------

But in comparison to last year, service costs went up 27% while revenue service revenue only went up 7%.

Average TiVo-Owned subscriptions per month 930K 974K

TiVo-Owned ARPU per month $7.82 $8.03

So they lost 44K subscription over last year, and the Average Revenue Per Unit dropped 21 cents. The decrease in TiVo-Owned ARPU per month for the three months ended October 31, 2014 as compared to the same prior year period was due primarily to a percentage increase in sales of service for TiVo Mini, which have much lower average revenues than DVRs.

While the above quote is true, the company probably makes more revenue with monthly payments, their costs go up as well. The monthly payments are only 20% of service revenues, as the rest comes from lump sum lifetime, the cable companies that use TiVo and Media services. So it is hardly a make or break issue for the company.

-----------------

But the Technology department showed meteoric growth and reduced costs.

2014 2013 (first 9 months only)

$76,656 $79,487 Hardware revenues -3.56%

$70,464 $73,470 Hardware Cost -4.09%

$6,192 $6,017 Hardware Revenue minus Cost 2.91%

$109,509 $102,518 Service revenues 6.82%

$42,570 $33,446 Service Cost 27.28%

$66,939 $69,072 Service Revenue minus Cost -3.09%

$151,182 $117,914 Technology revenues 28.21%

$16,780 $21,190 Technology Cost -20.81%

$134,402 $96,724 Technology Revenue minus Cost 38.95%

Technology revenues for the nine months ended October 31, 2014 increased by $33.3 million, as compared to the same prior year periods primarily due to the settlement and license agreements with Verizon and Google/Motorola Mobility and Cisco, additional licensing revenues in excess of contractual minimums, and to a lesser extent the timing of revenue recognition related to various technology related projects.

Revenue and cash from the contractual minimums do not include any additional revenues from our AT&T agreement .

Reset of To Do List failed

I have a SP for The Late Show with Seth Meyers (and the other late night shows) and it's set for "new only". But it recorded. So I may have a bad guide or To Do List. I tried to reset it and nothing happened. I don't expect anyone to try to duplicate my issue, but tomorrow I'm going to wipe everything and see if that works. FWIW.

Firefox problem with Forums

I started having a problem accessing the forums from Firefox starting around 12/15/14.

Since that evening, I can enter "http://www.tivocommunity.com" and the Home page displays correctly, but when I the click on Forums, the page showing the list of Forums starts to display and then the following error page is displayed

"Not Found

The requested URL /tivo-vb/tivo/misc/logobg.gif.png was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.42 Server at http://www.tivocommunity.com Port 80"

I can access the forums with no problems using either Safari or Chrome, but Firefox displays the error page every time.

I have tried clearing both the cache and history in Firefox without success.

I have also tried doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of Firefox, which does not solve the problem either.

Just to make things harder to track down, I have since discovered that the Forums page does display correctly using a different mac mini than the one on which I am having the problem.

New router. UPnP enabled. Tivo TCP port 8081 failure

Tivo reporting TCP Port 8081 failure.

Have new router. Linksys WRT1900AC. Latest firmware. UPnP enabled.

Any advice from you pros? Hate to manually open port. Shouldn't have to, never had this issue with router I just replaced.

EDIT: Tested again from Tivo and now it's working. Looks like sometimes it works and sometimes it fails.

Transferring Lifetime Service

Does Tivo Do this anymore?

I'm thinking about dumping DTV for cheap basic cable and want to get a tivo again.

Frustrated with iPad App and Roamio

I've posted about this before in the Roamio forum. Still having issue.

I have a Roamio Plus and iPad with Retina (iPad 4 with latest firmware)

Using a new solid router that I hoped would solve the issue. (Linksys WRT1400AC with latest firmware.) I was hoping my previous router was to blame, but 2 routers and having the same issue, not sure I can blame router anymore.

On my router, I have given Priority to my Tivo Roamio, both IP's, the regular and the stream IP, and priority to my iPad.

When I use the Tivo app on my iPad to download a show, it loses connection. I have to babysit the download and resume it over and over to get a show completely downloaded.

I always download the smallest, basic.

Does anyone have any suggestions to making the downloading of shows to my iPad more solid.

It's very frustrating.

Tivo XL4's won't transfer recordings

Hello,

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I can't find an exact replica of my situation. And I have tried all of the solutions that I have found here for similar situations, with no success.

I have 2 Tivo XL4s, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. They are wired to my home network with Powerline adapters. I use KMTTG to transfer my shows to my PC, and there is no issue there. I am successfully transferring as I type this. The issue I'm having is transferring between the 2 Tivos, and from my PC to the Tivos. I use Azureus Vuze on my PC, and have successfully transferred hundreds of shows, movies, etc to my Tivos with no prior issues that I can recall. I've successfully transferred movies as recently as last week, but this week it has not worked. Nothing on my computer or network has changed in the last several months. When I initiate the transfer, the Tivo shows that the transfer is starting (not that it will start later), and it will show in the To Do list, but the blue light does not come on the front of the Tivo, and the movie does not show in the MyShows list, although when this issue first started, the movie would show in the MyShows list, but it would not make any progress in the transfer. Any following transfers will show as "Will start later", but they never start transferring.

What I have tried:

-Restarting the computer, the router, and each Powerline adapter.

-Unplug the Tivos for over 5 mins, and restart.

-Disconnect the Ethernet cables for over an hour, and force a connection to the Tivo service upon reconnecting (I read this was supposed wipe out any "phantom transfers")

-Wishful thinking.

-Cussing and throwing things.

Any other ideas?

Anyone encounter this recently?

Received a mini as a gift from my husband

How do I change the Mini over to my Tivo account, because the rest of the Tivos are linked to that account. He bought the Mini from Tivo, so I'm guessing they set up a Tivo account in his name, but he has no idea what it is. I'm guessing it's in his name because I haven't been able to set it up yet, waiting for the new TV it goes with.

It would be much easier to manage if they were all tied to my account and I know there has to be a simple way to do it, just don't know what that might be. I was hoping I could do that in advance

Publish video files to My Shows without software

Does anyone know of a way to publish videos (a folder) to My Shows? I know TiVo Desktop Plus and PyTiVo can do this but I do not want to run software. I would rather just setup a network drive and eliminate the need for a HTPC.

Anyone know of a way?

Thanks!

(First time poster)

Where transfered vidoes wind up in "Now Showing" menu?

I'm confused. I copy a video file from elsewhere on my PC into the folder designated by my TIVO Desktop Plus, i.e. copy it into My Documents, "My TIVO Recordings" folder. After copying, the TIVO Desktop Plus software confirms that they are in that local PC folder. Perfect. No problem. Not confused yet.

I can then use the TIVO box's "Now Showing" menu and those files are indeed now in the "Now Playing on Gateway" folder [my pc's name is Gateway]. Perfect. Makes perfect sense. That is, these are files are now on my PC available and ready to transfer to the TIVO box using the TIVO box menu. I'm not confused yet.

I then select one of those files in the "Now Playing on Gateway" and instruct it to "Transfer this recording." Still making perfect sense and it acknowledges the request and says it will be in the "To Do" list to be transferred when it can. Still not confused because you can see in the To Do list that it's scheduled to transfer and, in fact it does transfer and can then be watched.

But after the transfer takes place, when checking "Now Playing," the newly transferred video is listed up along with the listing of all other regularly recorded TV shows.

Why isn't the video located in the "My TIVO recordings" folder? It seems to me all ALL transferred videos (from the PC to the TIVO box) should land in the "My TIVO Recordings" folder of the "Now Playing" listing. At least that's what I'd like. Oddly there are some older videos I've transferred that ARE listed in the "My TIVO Recordings" folder. But I don't remember when/how they got there.

So my questions:

1) Is there a way to always make transferred videos (from my PC to the TIVO box) always land in the "My Tivo Recordings" folder on the TIVO DVD?

2) And/or is there a way to move videos in the TIVO "Now Playing" area into the "My Tivo Recordings" folder?

Thanks.

Bose cinemate 15 with tivo

I have a tivo series 4 and the cinemate 15. The Bose remote is supposed to be able to control the tv and tivo but after hours of work that just isn't happeneing. I've seen a few posts on othe forums that had similar issues md said they just programmed the TiVo remote to control the Bose. Sounds like a plan but I can't find any how to on doing that.

Anyone else had the same issue and have a solution?

Nothing at Weaknees or on ebay...

Same file from Roamio multiple times

I was transferring a show from my Roamio Basic to my S3 using the S3. I selected it. Then I went further and chose shows from my PC (using pytivo) to transfer. Two hours later when I returned home, I had 3 copies of the same show from Roamio. I checked - they are the same file (not as some have had happen same name but different shows). I deleted one of then stopped the transfer of the same. The S3 then showed it was downloading again and again it was the same show. And then over and over till I guess I finally caught up with the 10-12 transfers I had arranged. I checked, and it was the SAME SHOW (and not that terrific to warrant 10 or 12 copies).

Ideas? I don't recall this happening before when I've cued up a few shows for transfer.

Tivo Mini - high frequecncy noice (buzz/hum)

I'm trying to determine if this is normal or if there is an issue with my new Tivo Mini.... Just got a new Mini for XMas and its pretty awesome. However, it produces a high pitch frequency (buzz / hum). It's not super loud, but can be heard as far away as 15 feet. This is for the bedroom and its pretty annoying. I was hoping my wife wouldn't hear it, but she already has....

I did read on this forum that Moca can cause this, but I disconnected the coxial cable as a test and it did not change anything.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Free HBO Go for cable subscribers

Since amazon fire and roku boxes alraedy support free HBO Go for cable subscribers, when is tivo going to add this feature?

Premiere 2 tuner with lifetime (evaluation)

Looking to sell my 2 tuner premiere (746500). Comes with remote, power cord, and lifetime service. The caveat to this is that it was acquired through a contest (game show giveaways show up as status 11:evaluation); it shows on the Tivo online account as lifetime. Only shows as Evaluation on the box itself. The risk is that Tivo can take away the lifetime at anytime-- kind of ironic. It has been in "lifetime" status for 4 years, so I doubt it is going to be pulled anytime soon, but it is a risk. I am selling for 225.00 shipped in the US. Paypal only. Message me if interested. Thanks.

Tablo vs TiVo OTA

The Tablo 4 tuner DVR costs $300 + $150 lifetime support + cost of hard disk drive.

So that seems to compare almost exactly with the TiVo OTA $50+$500 lifetime support which includes a 1/2 terabyte drive.

In addition the Tablo has no HDMI plug so you must stream to other devices. It cannot stream to phones (only talets). The TiVo OTA has a choice of HDMI or streaming to either phones or tablets.

So as far as I can see the Tablo is a more limited product for the same money. Is there any counter arguments?

Installed the new sound bar, hooked up the digital lines and it works great with the sound bar remote. Just cannot get the tivo remote to do anything with it. Seems like only buying a new remote as a true solution, but of course TIVO has them out of stock if this would REALLY fix the issue.

Any updates from others that have crossed this bridge later in 2014?

Thank you

Alan

series 1 and comcast infinity

I have a Philips series 1 with lifetime and Comcast xfinity cable service (just switched from uverse) I hooked the TiVo up and was able to program the remote to power up/off, volume, and mute. However it wont change the channel. The TiVo banner says it does but on the actual tv it does not. I do have IR blasters that I've never had to use and have no idea where on the comcast box to place them (if needed). I also don't know how to set up and program them if needed. Any help would be appreciated since I tried using their dvr but I miss my Tivo too much! :)

Remotes and Premiers

Is the remote on the Premier boxes RF or IF? I know there is a setting that says to turn the network remote on, but I assume that is for remote apps on phones.

It seems like I can change channel without pointing at the box, but it doesn't go through walls. Do I need a special remote? There is no serial number on mine.

pytivox has empty music folders

I'm a total newby at this. I installed pytivox. I do see the music folders on my tivo but there is no music in them. The folders say they have 0 music files in them. I copied the music from CD's using iTunes and can play the music on my Mac (Mavericks). Any suggestions?

Doctor Who: Last Christmas - 12/25/2014 - Spoilers (obviously)

Hmmm, Alien meets Inception meets total silliness and butts heads with Nick Frost.

Cheap production values, too.

Can you tell I wasn't impressed?

TiVo seems to ignore my thumbs up and thumbs down

For some reason, my TiVo Roamio Plus seems to ignore my thumbs up / thumbs down. Whenever I look at it, it's more likely to have one or more of the tuners set to something I've already thumb downed than something I've thumbed up. Can anyone help me change this or at least understand why this is happening?

iOS App outage

For the last hour or so I've been unable to use the iOS TiVo app on either my iPhone or iPad. I alternate back and forth between getting connection errors from the app and an error message saying my login credentials are wrong. However, I can verify that the login credentials are correct (by logging in with them at TiVo.com) and that my devices have great network connections. So I'm confident this is an outage on the TiVo server side rather than on my end. But I don't see any outage listed on status.tivo.com. Anyone else having a problem?

EnterWebz.tv apps on your TiVo

Today marks the official release of Enter Webz, the Internet Apps server for your TiVo DVR.

The website EnterWebz.tv has simple instructions to show it on your DVR with your "Add an App" (or "Manually Add a Server") feature.

I'm directing you to the website to ensure you've read cautions and notices before using it

If you remember apps.tv (R.I.P. 2012), http://EnterWebz.tv is similar.

Enter Webz (EWz) provides a variety of "thumztaks" (Internet-based services and custom apps) just a few remote control clicks away.

Once you've added EWz you'll get 4 app entries under "Music & Photos" and 6 app entries under "Showcases & Apps" plus an entry to change which apps show up and a help page.

These include thumztaks for Video On Demand, News & Weather, Social Networking, Internet Radio & MP3s, Pictures, Comics, Games, and even this very forum!

It features a quick-loading YouTube alternate interface, and a first-of-its-kind multi-TiVo game.

The full list of thumztaks is below.

A unique feature of these apps is they support the Picture-in-Picture Live TV mode like TiVo's latest user interface (or alternatively, custom PIP content).

EWz also works with older TiVo models (which may not support video streaming and/or may show all entries under "Music, Photos, & Showcases")

You can change which thumztaks or groups show up as apps or under which group, what order they're in, or just remove the ones you're not interested in.

On occasion, new thumztaks will show up and broken thumztaks will be removed/replaced.

NOTE: EWz uses TiVo's HME app technology to create a simplistic interpreter for web pages and tries to present them to you with no support for JavaScript, Flash, large images, or many media and image formats. The provided list of pages are reasonably compatible, but clicking links to other pages is likely to display something too complicated or incompatible resulting in an app crash or even a DVR reboot due to a bug in TiVo's HME technology.

If you are concerned about privacy or security while using EWz, you can download a version to run on your home computer, instead.

If you have a custom app or website you would like to feature to TiVo users, I can display an ad to help pay for my costs and further development.

(FYI, EWz has been operating in a "beta" status on another server for the past year. If you added it before, you will have to add the new server now, but your thumztaks and configuration were saved)

Here are the apps and thumztaks that you'll start with currently...

  • Internet Radio - a directory of tons of Internet radio stations. The MP3 format stations should work.

Watching Vimeon on TiVo

By doing a web search I found results directly from TiVo saying that you can watch Vimeo videos on your TiVo Premiere or Roamio using "Hotlist" which my Premiere XL does have. However, Vimeo is not in the list of items to watch under "Hotlist". Did they remove it at some point? Is there any other way to get Vimeo? I have a smart TV as well.

Thanks

Reecording videos from Youtube?

Is there a way to record videos viewed from Youtube? I see Sony has released The Interview on Youtube. I'm thinking of renting it but I'd like to record it for later viewing. Is this possible?

CBSN 24 hour news feed

A couple of months ago, CBS offered a streaming live news feed. This new news live feed is now available on Roku and other streaming products with the exception of Tivo Box (Roamio).

When can we expect this Live News Channel on Tivo?

Move shows from Series 3 to Roamio... WITHOUT using ethernet?

Merry Christmas! I just got a TiVo Roamio Plus to replace my old Series 3.

The S3 had to be replaced because the network adapter in my S3 stopped working. That means the direct wired connection to my home network isn't working anymore. Which means I can't use that wired connection to transfer shows from the old DVR to the new DVR.

I was using a wired ethernet connection from my S3 to my home network. I'm not sure if getting a wireless adapter will work, because it's not the ethernet port that's dead, it seems to be the internal network adapter. If the network adapter was working, the transfer would be a piece of cake. But because the S3 seems to be locked in, salvaging my shows is becoming a bigger task than originally anticipated.

So... the mission, if you can help out, is to transfer a handful of shows from a network-denied TiVo to my brand new network-enabled Roamio.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Warranty voiding excursions that require advanced technical skills?

I had two potential thoughts:

* If I pull the hard drive from the S3 and put it in an external storage device, can I just straight connect the old hard drive to the new TiVo and browse it for the shows I want?

* Or might I have to dust off my UNIX skills, pull both hard drives and do a massive file copy from hard drive to hard drive?

Any other suggestions?

C133 and V87 Errors on Mini

Getting the above referenced errors.

I can connect to TiVo service and ping the Mini from a laptop. So it's attached to the network and can send/receive.

When I go into My Shows I get a C501 error-'Unexpected Problem'.

First time this has happened since I purchased the devices over a year ago.

how to connect a Roku box with tv when a tivo DVR is using the ethernet connection

How do you connect a Roku box to the HD TV, when the Tivo DVR (Roamio) is using the Ethernet connection? Can I split the Ethernet connection to support both the Tivo and Roku Box?

Also, I am using a Powerline connection (Ethernet) between the Modem, Router, Tivo (Roamio) and a Tivo Mini. The reason for the use of Powerline is because I have no Coax connection in the location of the Tivo Mini.

The streaming service seems to be fine on the Roamio with occasional glitches at the Mini.

I have not attempted the use of WiFi due to potential problems.

Please advise as I am at a learning stage in the Tivo world having just cut the cord from Comcast.

Will DirecTiVo SAT-T60 work with Genie setup?

I am staying at my daughter's house for a month. She has the DirecTv genie set up & I brought my SAT-T60 with me & want to record my regular shows while I am here.

I screwed the coax that went in the back of the Genie box into the satellite 1 input on the SAG-T60. It shows that it is getting 100% signal but won't let me watch live TV.

Will this work & can someone tell me how to do it, please?

Quick InstantCake Question

Is the InstantCake CD for TCD649xxx the same as the one for TCD240080 models?

What about Amazon prime music?

OK so amazon prime on TiVo is excellent, movies and video streams beautifully. But my question is whether we are able to listen to amazon prime music on the TiVo like pandora. Or if it may be an option in the near future.

Comcast VOD problems

I have seen many post for people having issues with the Comcast VOD video not playing or freezing but those were several months ago. In the beginning the video would play for a few seconds and freeze so figured it was a bill coding issue and contacted comcast to change it. They verified it was wrong and changed it but now I am getting a "contact your cable provider" error message when trying to play a show and comcast says every thing seems ok.

Any suggestions on what to tell comcast other than suggesting I get their equipment. Thanks

Roamio OTA (pennywise pound foolish)

So a Roamio OTA ($50) looks like a regular Roamio ($200 now on sale for $150) which is partly disabled. Both cost $540 ($15*3*12) over 3 years or $500 lifetime. The extra price of the regular Roamio will probably be recoverable if you resell in 3 years, and the OTA will be useless if your situation changes and you want cable.

Am I missing something? Is it just pennywise and pound foolish?

No Audio Feedback on "Replay" or "Advance" Button

I have to Tivo Minis installed. On one I get Audio Feedback on the "Replay" and "Advance" Buttons on the other Tivo Mini I do not get any Audio ("Click") feedback. Where to I go to fix this so I do hear the "Clicks"? I do get audio "clicks" while navigating menus or lists on both Tivo Minis.

Roamio Plus rebooting randomly

Good morning all,

I had a Tivo Roamio Plus. The box was rebooting constantly and randomly. I called and had a warranty replacement shipped out. My warranty replacement is doing the same thing. This is something that has been happening over the past 2-3 months and it is extremely aggravating.

Tivo is going through an Xbox One and the Xbox One is going through an Onkyo receiver.

I have Verizon FIOS.

Anyone have any suggestions?

WTB: TiVo RF USB Dongle

Mini lost DVR

So I have a Roamio Plus and two Minis. Roamio Plus is working fine. Mini 1 is working fine. Mini 2 was working fine until this evening, when it started telling me my Roamio Plus was not a compatible DVR. I tried connecting to Tivo service and that went fine. Still get the error. I tried guided setup, and I get V70 errors and cannot finish. I tried connecting the to the Tivo service from the Roamio and that was fine. I tried power cycling the router (which does the MoCA). I tried power cycling the Roamio and the uncooperative Mini. Still not working.

What do I try next?

Tivo Mini out of the box setup fails to find DVR

I'm in the process of setting up my 5th and 6th Tivo mini. On my 3rd mini setup it ran through the guided setup did the download did the software upgrade and then told me it couldn't find the DVR. I got into a chat with Tivo support and they killed me with their script read responses. My Mini's are on the same physical ethernet switch as my Roamio with the router being somewhere else in the network. The mini is able to contact TIVO and perform the download just fine. The tech just kept telling me to reboot my router. I tried explaining I was on a much larger network and rebooting the router shouldn't make any difference. Eventually my 3rd Mini connected to the Roamio and all was fine.

Now I'm having the same problem with the 5th and 6th mini. Both failing to see the DVR. I'm going to reboot the Roamio as soon as I can get it away from the family but I was wondering if anyone else had seen a similar problem. As a matter of fact I'm going to reboot my router and see if that clears it. Wouldn't that be a hoot if it did. Being that the router is not in the path of the MINI connecting to the Roamio it really shouldn't be the problem. Lets see what happens.

Nope, rebooting router had no effect. I'll keep at it until it works. Just wondering if anyone else had similar results.

Best way to get rid of 2 Tivo Premiere Boxes?

I recently bought and installed a 6 tuner Roamio and 3 Tivo Minis - now I have 2 dual-tuner Premieres and a Tivo Stream to get rid of.

Neither of these have lifetime service. Lifetime would cost 400 for each of them, monthly service is 13.00.

What's the best way to get rid of these, or the best way to use them? Can they be donated? Would anybody want them?

I don't think they're worth anything without service, and I don't have 2 more tv's to use them on here.

Thanks in advance.

Add NFS and iSCSI support for expanding recording storage

I would be nice if I could mount NFS or use iSCSI to expand recording storage my high performance QNAP NAS.
